_____ *Pros: -Relatively quiet swirling operation during mopping and vacuuming. -Great suction power. -Self-emptying dust bin feature is a great time saver. -The LiDAR navigation did a great job mapping the rooms. -Images of your home doesn’t get sent to a cloud server – great for privacy. -Good battery life. -Integrated well with Google Home for voice commands. -The app is easy to navigate and responsive. -No-sweep, no-mop map boundaries actually work. _____ *Neutral: -The map editing screen could be better labeled and more intuitive. -The Edge sensors get dirty too frequently, setting off a notification in the app. -The Dust bags are proprietary and cost $18 for a 3-pack at regular price. -The water reservoir must be manually drained and refilled each time. -Only two pairs of mopping pads. _____ *Cons: -It got easily tangled by cords on the floor. Throughout the years, I’ve mostly used low- to mid-range robot vacuum and mopping machines, and among them, the bObsweep Dustin Combo is the best one yet. What elevated the Dustin Combo apart from the others for me was its relatively quiet operation, great mopping and vacuum performance, a powerful and easy to use app, the convenient self-emptying dustbin feature, and a geo-fencing feature that actually works. On the topic of design, the Dustin Combo is like many other robot vacuums on the market – round shape, a spinning side brush, mopping pads on the bottom, and a port on the bottom for filling and draining the water used for mopping. Compared to older machines, the Dustin Combo is a bit lighter. There are three buttons on top – Go, Charge, and WiFi – and they are used to start cleaning, send the robot back to its charging base, and to initiate a Wi-Fi connection to one’s home network, respectively. Setting up the bObsweep was a quick and painless process - turn it on, press and hold the Wi-Fi button on top, and use the app to connect the Dustin Combo to the home network. After that, you let the robot roam the house while it creates a map. The bObsweep initially creates partitions of the house into different zones but if you don’t agree with the layout, you can always jump into the Map settings and draw your own partitions. And that was the first thing I did – teaching the robot where the kitchen, the living room, the hallway, the bathroom, and the bedrooms are. I appreciate that my home layout is not uploaded to the cloud and the data stays local. Once the map was set up, I filled up the water tank and let it vacuum and mop the kitchen and the living room (all hard flooring). The bObsweep did an excellent job picking up dirt and debris as well as hair from our five pets (one Goldador, one Maltese, and three cats). The dual mops also did a great job, removing the dark streaks and blotches from the kitchen as well as making the living room floor look shiny and clean. The Dustin Combo did experience one mishap, and it was when it sucked in a laptop charging cable and it got snagged by one of the spinning mop pads, causing the said mop pad to come off the machine. Fortunately, it was smart enough to detect that something went wrong, and it stopped functioning shortly after. Once I pulled the cable out and popped the mop back in, it automatically resumed its run. Lesson learned – don’t leave any cables out because the bObsweep does not know how to avoid them. What I really liked about the app was all the customizations options available to me, such as setting vacuum power (low, medium, high), self-empty interval, mop intensity (off, light, medium, deep), auto-resume, edge detection, FloorSense (automatically lifts the mops when carpet is encountered, and a mute toggle for sounds and notifications. The bObsweep is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, and I have added it to my Google Home. Now, onto a little bit of criticism. Although the app is powerful, snappy, and easy to use, there was one setting, the Map setting, where things could’ve been executed better. When you tap into the Map setting, you’re presented with a whole bunch of icons with no labels next to them. In order to find out what they do, you have to tap each option first then the following screen will inform you what that option is about. I find this to be un-user friendly and a bit tedious and annoying. I also found the frequent notifications about the Edge sensors needing cleaning annoying. They supposedly need cleaning once weekly, but I’ve been getting alerts about them at least once a day. I don’t know if it’s a false alarm or they really get dirty that frequently. Besides these two things, I’m otherwise very satisfied and happy with the Dustin Combo. Thanks to the big dust bag, I don’t have to empty the machine after each vacuum cycle and just do it like once a month. And thanks to the dual spinning mop pads that apply pressure to the floor, the cleaning result is far superior to robots that simply rub a mob pad back and forth over the surface. And the app and the robot are smart enough to actually remember and enforce the NoSweep and NoMop boundaries that I’ve set, which all of my other robot cleaners have repeatedly failed. After all things considered, I give it 4.5 Stars. It does well at what it was designed to do and saves me lots of time so I can focus on other stuff.

Alright so before we get started, let me give you some background so you can decide if you are on the same boat as me. My house has both hard floor and carpet, although I only used this in the hard floor area (it struggled in carpet so I just decided to vacuum myself in the rooms). I also own a golden retriever and have two toddlers. So suffice to say, there’s a lot of pet hair and dirt that needs to be cleaned. The first day I used this robot vacuum, I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was. It took it a bit over an hour to clean all common, hard floor areas and it did it quite well. Even the self emptying wasn’t as loud as the previous Roomba I had. The problem was what happened after. Problem 1. And again, if you are not on the some boat as me (pet owner) this may not apply to you. The roller/main brush was constantly tangled with the dog hair. So every two days I had to open the Dustin and manually clean it. was quite annoying as if I didn’t do this, it would not clean as well and would even get stuck. This is supposed to be a “hands off” type of thing but if I wasn’t constantly on it, it would not do its job properly. Problem 2. It’s mapping software is the easiest thing to get confused. Again, check if you are on the same boat as me (I got 2 toddlers). Whenever one of my kids would leave something out of place, say a shoe, a big toy, or whenever we would move a sofa by a couple inches or something, the robot would get confused. When it does, it doesn’t know where it is so it either just stops cleaning altogether (super annoying) or tries to find its base. It was hella funny (and annoying) to see it run pass its base a few times while searching for it. It would eventually stop altogether and then I’d have to rescue it and take it to its base again. If you are not on the same boat as me and your cleaning is minimal/ have no pets (or wife lol) shedding hair and don’t mind having to rescue your robot every so often, then yeah by all means, if you get it mad cheap like I did give it a chance. PS. If you are currently having the navigation problem, I found that eliminating the map helps. You’ll have to eliminate your map every so often though… I added a picture of all the times it has given me an error this week..

This was purchased as Deal of the Day sale. The item arrived as new but has scratches under the protective film on top of the sweeper. It's intriguing to watch it map out your home, hugging the walls and going between legs of furniture. Unfortunately it doesn’t sweep cleaner than a broom. Walking in bare feet shows its flaws. Even at the discounted 1 day price, it's not worth it.

This little robot vacuum is fun to train, watch and use. Everytime I use him he learns more and more...and so do I. I am sure the more I learn the better he will get. Just love working with Dustin...and do not regret the purchase at all.

Great Vacuum Bot Not for Mop

This robot vacuum, Dustin from bObsweep, is very well made with a soft and smooth texture. It actually feels premium and is one of the quietest robot vacuums I have used. This robot vacuum both vacuums and mops. It has a small onboard water reservoir with two mopping pads. The reservoir is removable, although it does need to be refilled often. The charging base has the same smooth finish as the robot and features a compact form factor, which makes placement much easier. It works over Wi-Fi, so it can be controlled remotely, and it also supports Alexa and Google Assistant. The setup process was straightforward. You simply download the bObsweep app and follow the prompts. Once setup is complete, send the robot to create a map of your home, and by far this was one of the fastest mapping systems I have seen. It completed the mapping process within minutes and did so very accurately, which genuinely impressed me. Using it is very simple, whether through voice commands, the app, or by pressing the Go button directly on the robot. Performance-wise, the suction power is good and can be adjusted through the app. One of the standout cleaning features for me was the cleaning pattern. It first goes around the edges of the room and then works its way through the center. It was actually pretty cool to watch, especially because it does all of this with minimal noise. The robot is also smart enough to accurately detect both hard floors and carpets. Once it detected carpet, it automatically stopped the mopping function and lifted the two mopping pads. This is a combo vacuum, and while it does an excellent job vacuuming floors, it is far from perfect as a mop. In my opinion, the mopping feature should not have been included without proper water cleaning equipment. The reason is that the “mopping” is really more like lightly wetting the floor. I have owned several combo vacuums that include systems for collecting dirty water and automatically cleaning the pads during mopping sessions to avoid spreading dirt around. This vacuum does not have a dirty-water collection system or an automatic pad-cleaning feature. As a result, spills or heavily soiled areas can simply be spread across the floor by the wet pads. That, for me, is one of its biggest flaws. The pads also need to be manually washed frequently, which adds extra maintenance. The app itself is functional but not very intuitive and definitely comes with a learning curve. The UI feels outdated and lacks a more modern, refined design. Navigating some menus requires too much tapping back and forth, and many options are represented only by icons without proper labels, especially in the map editing tool, so you often have to guess what they do by opening them. Creating and editing rooms also requires too many steps, and there is no option for custom room naming, you are limited to preset names only. The good part is that most of these issues could likely be improved through future software updates. Although this is one of the quietest robot vacuums I have used, I cannot say the same about the dust extraction system on the base. While self-emptying bases are usually loud, this one is easily among the loudest despite having one of the smallest bases I have seen. Overall, the Dustin robot vacuum performs extremely well when it comes to vacuuming and does so very quietly. It is well constructed, smart, and easy to use. While the included mopping pads technically work, this robot clearly feels more designed for vacuuming than true mopping. As for the pricing it is definitely well priced for what it offers, specs found on high end vacuums and great vacuum performance. In the box, you get the Dustin vacuum, charging station, station pad, mopping pads, cleaning brushes, dust bags, vacuum and mopping rollers, and manuals.

So, Dustin, or DB as I call him, has been doing okay since I purchased him. One major thing that keeps happening is he loses his brush a lot, I'm not sure what it is but his brush will not stay attached. DB actually does a good job of sweeping, he gets ending little piece of dirt, dust bunnies, and little debris. I have not utilize the mop attachment, but that'll be next. Mapping out his field is not bad, I need to tweek his path some more. Now, when he empties his canister, it is very loud and still startle you. For now he is learning, i just need that brush to stay attached, I just might have to get a replacement, we'll see.

The robot works very well, the app is very intuitive and makes it easier to locate it around the house! Task planning works as it should and the robot easily avoids obstacles! cleaning the container is a bit high and there should be an option to not do it at night as it ends up being a bit scary if you put the robot in for nighttime cleaning. but I am very satisfied with the purchase.
