    Borderlands Greatly Improved

Played the game about 8 hours and up to level 7. As has been mentioned in most reviews, Borderlands 2 is better than Borderlands in just about every aspect. These aspects are better - graphics, story line, leveling up, humor, interface. Have only noticed a couple of negative things. On a couple of occasions charter comments were either cut off in mid sentence or there were two characters talking at the same time. So, in both situations information was lost. Neither problem has been big enough to affect the game very much. The story is much, much better. A lot of neat characters. Clap Trap is a hoot and always saying funny things. The graphics are better all the way around, the game is a bit more colorful which I like. The shooting mechanism is about the same and is enjoyable. Always fun finding new weapons, but I must say a lof of the time one weapon is only slightly different from another one. So, although there are a ton of guns the fact that they are so similar detracts from the quantity. If you liked the original you will like this game. Haven't played it on Co-op yet, but I'm sure it will be as fun as ever.

Yes! Another chance to shoot things up in Pandora

In many ways it's better than the first, yet in some ways it falls short. The Game is fun to play solo, not so much on split screen as it hard to see the menu in split screen. Considering you will be comparing stats on guns a lot that's a bad way to go. Also can't save the game to the hard drive for the PS3. Not a deal breaker but I should be given the option. So load times are not the best and it takes a bit before the images get clear. But Overall it's still a fun game. I'm on Level 22 now with one character and on Level 16 with the Mechromancer. She is a cool character to play and worth the investment if you didn't already get it as the pre-order bonus.

Best game I've played since Tony Hawks Underground on the PlayStation 2. Borderlands 2 is packed with a ton of action and enough humor to keep me laughing even when I have died four times in 20 minutes. Each character brings a unique personality which is felt through the game play. I absolutely love this game and the best is yet to come! The co-op is amazing! I've never been that hooked to keep playing in a long time. 2k has done an excellent job!

The game is meant be played with others, so grab some friends to play it or just skip the game. The story is quite interesting and brings in some old friends from the previous game. While playing you are always looking for better weapons, which they many standard types and even weapons which you throw like grenades when you reload. If you liked Borderlands, it's more the same and refined gameplay.

    Great Sequel to Borderlands

Borderlands 2 is a great continuation of the first installment. Like its predecessor, the story follows 1 (or several if online) vault hunter. This time, instead of finding the vault, your goal is to destroy the criminal mastermind named "Jack" from destroying Pandora. Like the original, you slowly progress up in level and that determines your skill set, what technology you can use, your weaponry, and your class abilities. regarding the technical aspect of the game, I feel the graphics were..stagnant. meaning, there wasn't much if any progression over the original game. It felt even more cartoon-ish. Perhaps that was 2Ks goal. I dont know. The interface, especially your inventory, seemed cluttered and not well laid out. Gun and item management gets to be a headache and sometimes confusing as the colors get too saturated. The game play is pretty much the same. Although the car controls were moved around a bit. The enemies seem stronger and smarter which can be a challenge but you learn how to deal with different enemies with different weapons. The Robots are a cool addition, but they get to be boring once you level up so far. A legendary corrosive weapon can kill them in 3 or 4 shots. I do like how the 2nd installment build on the first story line and incorporates characters from the 1st story into the second. Im assuming there is going to be tons of DLC for this game and that gives this installment, much like the 1st, a second wind as DLC can double the game's life. As to my glitchy reference.. There are times when the game bogs down to the point of driving the player crazy. Especially when switching from one area of the map to another, or when you open a crate and it has an enemy inside, the game will pause briefly then resume. I have had a few issues where NPGs take forever to acknowledge i finished speaking and to begin the quest. perhaps its just my copy, but its annoying and it doesnt happen very often; maybe 3 times in 2 hours of playing. All in all a well-crafted and enjoyable game.

    Great gameplay, but repetitive

This game is just fun to play. I found myself playing for hours, and enjoyed hunting for better equipment, and the Shift codes you can obtain online (just google them) enhance your ability to fight. But, it is held back by the same gameplay over and over, which can get old. The graphics reinforce this too. I love the style of the graphics and the scenery, but it never changes. The platforms and rocky crags just repeat throughout the game. The enemies are varied, but repeated over and over again as well. Overall, it is a very shallow game but fun to play. There are some good story elements and voice acting. Seeing the same thing over and over though, with a few exceptions, just gets old after a while.

    I can't carry anymore stuff!!!!!

If you enjoyed the original Borderlands, than this game will take you to the promiseland. Borderlands 2 makes the first game look like a beta test. The world of Pandora is huge in Borderlands 2, and feels more connected than in Borderlands. The storyline and side missions are greatly improved. This is a real game now, with real narrative. The first borderlands was thin in this area and kept most players engaged just on the loot system alone. Borderlands 2 will keep you hooked on story, even though your weapons may be getting a little stale on you. But when that happens(i still don't know how they pull this off), just when you feel your weapons are underpowered, stale, and useless, the game has a way of dumping the goods on ya!!!! All of a sudden your picking up weapons with hundereds more of attack damage, better elemental effects etc.... This system is what makes Borderlands 2 great. Just when you feel on top of Pandora, the game finds a way to rip you down, and just when you feel hopless, the game has a way of making you feel on top again. Now, the multiplayer, is a different demon all together. All the same things apply except if you are the weakest party member of a team that has already played through an area, your going to feel like a baby brother just along for the ride. Try to snipe an enemy, OH someone already got him. Let me melee that gu.....Oh nevermind someone got him. Let me deploy my assassin ghost and.......Oh no need to there are no more enemeis. Wait!!! a tiny spiderant, BLAM 1exp! sweet, i killed something. The bottom line is that, the game is still fresh enough to start at level 1 with a group of new players and experience the whole game with them from the ground up, which is the optimum way to play the co-op. I personally like single player and the challenge it brings. Overall, I have no bad things to say about this game. I mean, there are occasional glitches, nothing that breaks the game thank god. Some of the side missions send you to multiple map locations, which when in the same location isn't a bad thing, but when you have to start fast traveling all over pandora to finish a quest, it can become a little redundant. The good part is, that there is great mission variety and Gearbox has a way of dangling the never ending carrot if front of your face to keep you playing. I can't tell you how many times I play and look up at my clock and say," Holy S! It's almost 2 a.m. on a work night and I'm married with 2 little kids. I didn't think I had time to play a game like this. Now I know, I haven't found a game that's made me want to play like this. This game will probably get game of the year.

One phrase: this is a must buy game! This is not a Call of Duty or a Halo, Borderlands 2 is the perfect blend between a MMO and a FPS. The story and the characters are funny, but playing online or locally with a friend is the best part of the game. However, if you are the kind of person who likes to play games by yourself, then Borderlands 2 is an OK game. You have to play it with more people to fully enjoy all the potential this game has.

Everything the previous game did, this game did better. The interface is tighter, the colors are brighter, the game is more challenging, money doesn't become a virtually obsolete thing in the second playthrough, and the story is no longer something forgettable. Also, this game - unlike its parent - allows for simultaneous split-screen and online play. I absolutely would recommend this game for anyone who enjoyed the first game even a tiny bit. I don't think I'll ever regret the money spent on this.

    Not a typical shooter

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is definitely not a typical shooter. In normal shooters today, you have one objective typically and around 6 weapons to use during your mission. Think of Borderlands 2 as a more sandbox type of shooter. It doesn't feel constrained like CoD games, which tend to feel like on-rail games to me. You can head from story mission story mission and complete the main story line or you can take your time and play out side missions. Side missions add depth to the game world. Completing side missions and finding slightly hidden audio logs adds so much to the principals of the story. Plus, the humor is completely off color and irreverent. The coolest thing about Borderlands 2 is the loot system. Loot comes in such a wide variety with differences in elemental effects, rate of fire, reload speed and magazine size. Add to this that loot behaves in drastically different ways as well. Maybe your grenade keeps bouncing until it reaches a bad guy or maybe your nifty new high powered rifle shoots bullets that are slow in reaching the target. There is so much that you can tailor to your own specific style. The four character classes add a lot of variety to the game as well. Each class has its own set of skill trees that allow you to customize skills to your liking from three different paths. No class feels like you have to play it a certain way but their abilities will have you changing your style accordingly. The game is a lot of fun for playing multiplayer as well. It allows split screen for two players and has online multiplayer. Bad guys become harder and more numerous while loot becomes better as well. I have had a ton of fun playing Borderlands 2 and I have even purchased DLC to add a fifth class to my selection. This is coming from someone that has played a lot more Final Fantasy than CoD. That may add to my interest in this game versus other shooters.

My wife and I loved the first game. This is the same game with a lot of hoped for improvements including: The game has an overarching story, split screen works with multiplayer (yes!!!), and much easier to connect with friends (drop in and out any time). We are really enjoying it and looking forward to the DLC.

What?? You're still reading this? Hmm, okay well ... why? You are wasting your time reading this! No, really, you are. I'm not going to tell you anything about it. Why? Because it's so darn awesome! If I told you how awesome it was you wouldn't believe me. Okay, stop reading this already...really, I promise you that if you read on you will be sorely disappointed with what I am about to say. I might have to elaborate on why it is that you would be unhappy with the outcome of what you think will be a very incredible epiphany of what I am about to say but come to find out that what I am going to say is really just another generalization of how this game will amaze you after you finish playing it, which you can't if you're still reading this message because you haven't gone out and bought it yet, which you should because it's worth your time, it was worth my time, but not the time it took to write this nonsensical piece of ramble that you really shouldn't be reading in the first place because you were warned from the start that it would be bad for your psyche.

This game was fun, addicting, and even funny. Although, it didn't live up to what I though it would be...the acclaimed "bazillion guns" is somewhat true, but unless you find an awesome gun safe, or you kill a high level boss, the guns are AWFUL. Even as a level 45 I was stuck using level 30 guns because the random loot system apparently hated my guts. Despite my complaints, the gunplay was addicting and the graphics were top notch for a AAA Shooter/RPG such as this, and I will be looking forward for the next project that comes out of Gearbox studios.

Picked this up shortly after isn't release. Up to level 12 with 2 different characters. Been a lot of fun, game makes you chuckle from time to time because of the storyline and the people you run across. The new BA ranking system is cool and it crosses to all your characters. You can also share items between characters too. It has all the features from the first game if i recall right, i liked that one too. When in coop the enemies get tougher, so it adds a level of difficulty to the game.

What a time sink! I have played this game for countless hours and still get endless joy from it. From the many different classes to the crazy amount of different equipment to find and equip Borderlands 2 is a fun time to be had. Do yourself a favor and invest in the season pass which rounds out the adventure by adding new quests, storylines, playable classes and maxes out the level cap

I spent several hundred hours playing Borderlands, the second play through was a blast due to Willow Tree modded weapons, unfortunately there is none of this for Borderlands 2. I dislike co-op or multiplayer, this game is too hard for the single player. I would give anything for one of the modded weapons I had in Borderlands for this game. I have come across several timed missions, something I really abhor in games. They really miss the mark with sniper rifles in both games, they should have a silencer like the Z93 in Far Cry 3. You can only get one head-shot, then everyone knows where you are. I hope the developers allow Willow Tree and modded weapons soon to help the single player mode. I am only a fraction through with the game, so my opinion may change later, I really wish they would of left timed missions out of the game.
