For the money you get a nice package with a very cheap 5" woofer inside. There is no appreciable bass below 80hz and virtually none at higher volumes since a driver that small cannot physically produce deep bass at loud volumes. It is very easily outclassed by everything else in it's price point. I do not recommend this unit unless you are hopelessly married to Bose products.

Poor quality for Bose

Owned for 7 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Bose Soundbar 500 initially, paired the Bass Module 500 to bring out the best in the system. Everything works well when watching movies or tv at mid to low volume. But don’t jam out to music at mid to high volume as the Bass Module cant handle it. I was listening to music pretty loud for no more than 10 minutes with the Bass slapping when I smelled burnt electrical/wiring smell. Come to find out it was coming from the Module. Sent to Bose and they replaced it thankfully, tested out the new one the same day I got it and it did the same thing! Extremely disappointed in what I thought was a high tier product, especially when spending $400 for a Bass Module that couldn’t even do what my $150 Samsung setup did. As I said if you do nothing but watch tv and movies with this setup you should be fine, but I recommend not using it as your source for music at anything other than low volume. I won’t be purchasing Bose products again.

This certainly is not normal behavior and it is very concerning you had the same issue with the replacement unit. The type of audio should also not have a major impact in the performance of the product, especially to the level you have described.
If you haven't already, please get back in touch with support to discuss further service. Our team will be more than happy to help. WIth regard to setup, maybe connect the bass module to another outlet.
