Only thing better than Bose is bigger Bose !!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the first set of PC Bose speakers and they were awesome, so when they came out with the new Companion 20's, I just had to up grade. I am glad I did, the sound is much much much greater, and I was happy with what I had !!!

Simply Amazing!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these for my iMac and I am amazed. I did not read any reviews because I wanted to get what I thought sounded good. And these do! The bass is amazing for just 2 speakers and the sound, crystal clear. I listen to hard rock music and I found no issues that the "1 star reviewer" reported. If you want high end sound from your computer and media, get these. Bose has proven again they are the leader in sound.

Ok speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to try Bose out for the first time. I listened to many of the Demos, read reviews, etc. These speakers sounded nice, rich, and full at the store. They were also in my price range. I also considered the Companion 5, but those were not in my price range. When I got them home, they sounded great at first. However, it's not uncommon for me to listen to music while I do a project around the house. This is where these speakers have serious limitations. Up close, they sound great. Take a few steps back, and the base drops out. Move a few steps over and the base kinda comes back, but something else drops out. It's really obvious. You can even test this out in the store. Play the demo and take a handful of steps away. It's not that music is all about the base. But, taking a few steps back from the speakers, the sound quickly goes from rich full sound to tin can really super quick. If you need just some general computer speakers to listen to while sitting in front of the computer, I think these would work great. However, if you need speakers that can fill the room when you need them too. These do not fill the room at all. My previous speakers were a pair I bought for about $30 8 years ago. Those speakers fill the room. The $60 speakers that were next to the bose speakers... those filled a good portion of the store. These bose speakers couldn't fill an area a step or two away from the desk. I ended up taking these speakers back. I'd probably check Bose out again, but it will be quite a number of years before I do.

Great desktop speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Speakers deliver good sound for desktop speakers without having to deal with components below the desk. They can be loud without distortion. Also, you can plug in other sources such as portable players.

Love these speakers!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE Bose. The same day I found out my Bose Companion Series 2 were giving me problems I knew immediately I was going to replace them with Bose. Although I was disappointed my speakers were acting up, I went right to Best Buy and decided to upgrade to the Companion 20 speakers. I'm so glad I did. I love them and I noticed immediately that there is enough of a sound quality improvement to justify getting the $249 speakers instead of the $99 I originally bought. So far, LOVING them!

the Bose companion 2 series 3 for 99$ for the win
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried both with my back turned , Ill add my laptop has an Asus 300$ sound card / E.Q that is amazing but the speakers suck. So the test I played mostly hip hop as to test the bass parameters. So lil Wayne Uproar was 1 .then some Drake , some big Sean and g- easy . the 20's had ear pricing treble with the eq presets with bass at 65% treble at 90% wide or virtual at 100 and loudness at 100 and 4 modes . 1 music ,2 movie, 3 game 4 speech . I demoed all 4 and the bass and mids were A LOT I MEAN ALOT better in the 99$ speakers and that was with the laptop at only 35% volume as the laptop volume goes up so do the bose speakers . With the companion 20's for 250 i was amazed that people were suckered in by a light and a volume disc .Because the sound is not better they both have a 3.5" speaker Bose calls it a woofer, both are 120v (that's all Bose supplied ) and both have a back bass port but the companion 2 series 3 (99$) actually has a dedicated hole /port where as the 20's do not , they just have a square where all the wires go and some air comes out if you can get any deep or punchy bass out of them . Some people complained that with the 2/ series 3 the left speaker is hardwired in . To me that's a plus as there is 1 less cord to look for if i move it around (which will not happen but other people may ) in conclusion if you waste 250$ you will be disappointed as they are all treble and lacking bass in a big way . When for 99$ (i didn't even want to spend that as i have a lg sk9y i can Bluetooth to but had a 60$ gift cirt. so for 44$ otd they are great the series 3 companion 2's ... Save your money for better things

I knew better....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a small set of computer speakers. After reading a lot of reviews, I found two relatively small desktop speakers (no sub) around $200 +. These and AudioEngine 2+. After reading all the positive comments about the Bose, I got them. As soon as I plugged them in I was disappointed. Not that clear and the bass was weak and the highs were weak. Listened to them for four days. Ordered the A2+'s and there is just no comparison for the same price. A2+'s sound so much bigger and better. Sorry Bose. But hey, the volume control disk is really cool!!! 5 stars for that.

Not Too Thrilled
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I bought the Logitech Z625 and it ended up being defective, and when I returned it, it was no longer in stock, and seeing that this was 100 dollars more, and from a brand I'd heard so much about, I decided to pull the trigger on the Companion 20 and was instantly let down. I knew Bose was overpriced, but I expected great sound quality. Yeah, the bass was really nice for two small speakers with no discrete subwoofer, but it was also loud, and the mids were such a muddy mess. I even installed an EQ to try to mitigate it, but it didn't help the sound much. Unless you've got money to blow and have always dreamed of having speakers that would be at home on Jerry's computer desk on Seinfeld, then I'd look elsewhere; you can get much more for much less.

Typical bookshelf speakers - no bass whatsoever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read through the reviews and was impressed by the reviews praising the bass from these speakers. So, I ordered them with immediate pickup. I drove to my local Best Buy and they had people standing out to intercept you. I gave them my last name and turned around and pulled back in front of the area there and within about 3 or 4 minutes, a rep was putting them into the trunk of my car and I was heading home. Within 45 minutes of ordering them, I had them in my hot, sweaty hands, and was hooking them up to my desktop computer. I listened to them for about 5 minutes, trying different songs, and within another 20 minutes, had them all packed back up, ready to go back to Best Buy tomorrow (too late for today). They have zero bass, and distort at full volume, which isn't much. I am replacing a Cyber Acoustics CA-3602FFP 2.1 Speaker Sound System, that cost $39.99 but blew the subwoofer. When the subwoofer worked, they sounded better than the Bose, and were a LOT more inexpensive. So, I give Best Buy high marks but Bose low marks.

Good, but pricy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You have to give it to Bose, what makes Bose systems sound nice is there concentration on producing superior upper midrange frequencies...that's it, though. Everything else is below average, sad really. But that is Bose, trick the ear on a few superior frequencies and add $$$ to the tag. The set up is pretty simple and audio is brought into the system through a 1/8 audio jack (provided). The system comes with a separate audio pad with a touch sensitive mute bottom on top. I like this feature, for I put my speakers out of reach. The separate audio pad lets me control everything remotely (wired). The sound that comes through is some what special. Like I said before a few frequency levels are superb, but the rest is below average. The result is crisp highs fighting through a muted and echoed midrange and base frequencies. It really just sounds a little better than $70 Logitech computer speakers. My recommendation, save your money and buy another brand for under $100. Unless you like jazz or have a big ego...like me, so I'm keeping them. :D

Over-rated and way over-priced!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought from reading the reviews on here that these speakers were going to wow me, but I was really quite disappointed. These speakers have a very clear and detailed mid-range response, but I don't hear much of anything below say 90hz or so. They get quite loud without much distortion, but there really is no sub-bass. They are perfectly adequate for casual use, but don't expect them to sound anything like a good home-theater system or even a mid-range 2.1 set of computer speakers. If you really want a 2.0 though, you can do a lot better for the price. I've found some name-brand, low-end, much less expensive studio monitor type speakers that are just as clear and detailed with bass response that blows these out of the water.

Not enough value for price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got these because they sounded amazing in the store. Was willing to pay the premium for the BOSE name and the control pod feature. Would have given 1 more star if the price was lower. The sound quality while good and better than most speakers, is not phenomenal. The aux cable that comes with it is really short so had to buy an extension aux cable cable. In addition, after 2 weeks of operation, the right side speaker is not working properly and i have to keep adjusting (pulling out partially) the aux cable. Hoping that this is only a defect with this unit. Also, hear some crackling sounds when playing (happens intermittently). Will be returning this one today!!
