Sound You Can Feel
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have the money, this is a good investment for entertainment. For PC gaming, the onboard sound card does a very nice job making environments come alive (not just footsteps by tiny details I missed that truly add to the immersion). The biggest qualitative difference to me is that sound becomes so much of an experience with this setup. I'm not audio junkie but tell the difference from my previous 2.1 setup and 7.1 headphones. Very happy thus far with the quality though the price to bite the bullet on big purchases never gets easy to swallow. Did a lot of research and review reads prior to purchasing and not looking back now.

Definitely Bose!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality is great. Deep bass, high highs, crisp mids.. Off 2 speakers and the subwoofer I get much more sound clarity than my old speakers. Definitely worth buying!

Works like a Bose Should
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pricey yes, works as well as you would hope a Bose would...Definitely! Was a little trickier than I thought it would be to get working via it's special hookup for a computer but was definitely worth it. Also be aware that it becomes the prime sound output device for your computer. If you are a gamer or music enthusiast who uses headphones then you will have to mess around with your sound setting to get them all to play nice with the bose.

Excellent Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this bose companion 5 as gift to my younger brother for his birthday. He likes it so much and had been used it for daily music entertainment. The only thing I want to complaint is not the product itself but bestbuy.com. I pruchase it on 12/31/2014 and my credit card is charged on 1/3/2015 which makes me not to qualify the 5% cash back from the credit card calender.

I'm not totally a Bose fan but wow

These are a tad expensive but superb quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers are expensive in comparison to other computer speakers but deliver truly superb sound for the price. They do not have the cheesy appearance that many computer speakers have. I find that the performance they deliver is well worth the premium price they command. Sadly, many people will look at the price and reject them on that basis and so will pass up what is in reality a good bargain because of the quality they deliver.

The great sound you expect from Bose
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bose Companion 5 Multimedia Speakers are a luxurious addition to any computer system used for listening to music, watching TV or movies. As expected, this speaker system delivers rich, exceptionally clear, Bose-quality sound. I use my speakers with a Dell laptop through a USB port and use Windows Media Player (WMP) as my primary music player. I save all of my personal CDs in high-quality WMP files and the results from the Bose speakers are crisp, clear, deep, rich sound. The volume/mute control pod is a great feature for adjusting the level for different music types, and the quick Mute allows for fast response when answering the phone. I keep the control pod right next to my phone which reduces fumbling when I receive a call. The USB input allows for clear, digital sound signals to be processed by your Bose speakers. This is particularly useful when your computer is not well shielded internally causing whirrring or whinig noises in your sound output. The passing of the digital signal eliminates these noises. Alternatively, you can plug your iPod or other MP3 player directly into the system through your control pod, using a stereo mini-plug. If you want the best sound from your computer system, this is the best computer-based system to purchase. Sometimes when booting up my computer the USB signal gets "stuck" which generates an annoying mid-level tone from the speakers. Once the Windows system is fulled booted, the problem automatically goes away. When Windows Vista was released, the Windows Control Panel functions for the speakers changed and Bose was very responsive to assisting me choose the correct settings for my speakers.

True surround
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first set of speakers that actually connect through USB and have drivers on the computer to have the best sound. Also The sound is unmatched by the other cheaper companies. Word to the wise: The 2 speakers need to be 24 inches apart or closer for best sound, meaning that if you have 2 monitors side by side, you might run into some setup conflicts. Overall best speakers I have heard in quite some time.

Just buy it already!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you can afford it stop comparing and just spend the money. I love music and I DJ. They are more expensive but you get what you pay for. No need to buy the 2 year warrantee. Bose does not break often!

Sound Quality vs. Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Haven't had speakers for a while. I wanted something simple, that sounded good. I listened to the other options in the store, and these were stand- out, the best sound of the rest. And for $359, they better be. I took them home, and hooked them up. The speakers are small on my desk, and while I don't keep them the recommended 24" apart, they still sound awesome at 48" and tilted in a little. ( I have a dual screen setup). I realize I may lose a little surround sound clarity as a result, but I didn't need the surround sound anyways. The audio quality is superb. Bose is a ripoff, though. So, if you're rich, or you're splurging like in my case, you will be treating yourself to an un-replaceable audio experience! nuff said!

This is the BEST Quality Speaker System for a PC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Companion 5 in 2007 for twice the price as it states now. This is a great price for such a superb product. Before I owned the Companion 5 I was running a Logi**** 6 speaker surround system on my PC which had a 15in. sub. When I replaced my PC surround system and had friends come over they didn't even realize where the sound was coming from because it fills the whole room up with State of the Art Technology.

the most amazing speakers avilable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.these speakers are the most amazing speakers avible, they are awsomefor gaming, music, and video. Sure they're $400, but they're woth it and you have to consider that they are surround sound which is not a bad price. seeing how it is only two speakers you dont have to wire spreakers around your room. their sound is very clear and can get extremly loud

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased speakers for xmas present for husband after he looked at them extensively. He thought I might purchase the mid priced ones and I surprised him with the best as the price was well worth it. Solution=Bose
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow, I have never heard speakers like these, this was a true compliment to my new computer. I have a blu-ray drive in my computer and with these speakers it felt like being in a theatre. I recommend like any other speakers that you gradually raise the volume to let them warm up before you blast them. Worth every dollar, I will not be replacing these babies for a long long time.

It's a Bose
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is amazing. Paired up with my Soundblaster X-Fi sound card, you can pretty much completely customize the speakers to sound the way you want. Like your at a concert hall, or in a movie theater or just to get great sound while playing a game. It's expensive...but it's a Bose. If you want the best, you pay for the best and the money is well worth it.

Not what I expected from a Bose product.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first time buying a Bose product and I am not impressed. After spending $400 for a 3 speaker set you would think they would offer some type of software to support the product but they do not. There is no way beyond the little bass knob on the back of the base speaker to adjust any of the sound. I quite honestly expected much more from Bose and even contacted them to ask about any software or different connector so I could hook the speakers up to my sound card or audio output jacks. There is no such thing available per Bose. Speakers are going to be returned and I am purchasing a real 5.1 set of speakers.
No, I would not recommend this to a friendBrand response from Bose support
Posted .This speaker system uses USB audio, which is a common solution for digital sound from a computer. Sound adjustments are intended to be controlled from the computer/program you are using, so there wouldn't be Bose software involved.
In addition, we do offer a 3.5mm jack on the control pod if you prefer to use the headphones or soundcard connection on the computer instead.
If there is a specific audio issue that you are trying to address, we'd love to take a closer look with you and maximize your enjoyment of the system. You can reach us at 1-800-379-2073. We are open from Mon. – Fri., 9 AM – 9 PM and on Sat., 9 AM – 7 PM ET.

Great for movies and games but not music
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned Bose products before, mainly home stereo speakers. This system is good for everything but music. I could see someone without a dedicated sound card using these but they lack mid range. The music sounded like it was missing something, "muddy" may be the correct term. I returned them after a couple of days for the Klipsch system and I was pleasantly surprised at how much better the Klipsch sound. Too many people automatically associate Bose with great sound, unfortunately that is not always the case. TLDR: These are good some general purpose for someone without a dedicated sound card but for music they lack quite a bit.
