I picked up the new Bose Frames - Rondo and after using them for a little bit, I wanted to share some comments. First I want to say that I love the idea of them. I’ve had my eye on them for a while now, waiting to get them. I went with the Rondo style, but either style will function exactly the same. It just a matter of your personal preference. Unboxing: in the box you get the frames, a carrying case, and the charging cord. The carrying case is kind of bulky but serves its purpose. The charging cord is kind of short, so you’ll have to charge the frames close to your USB port. The cord is USB only. Bose does not include wall charger, but if you’re like me, you have plenty of spares around thanks to multiple iPhones & iPads. The frames are cool looking. Both styles are made of the same materials, they just have a different shape. The frames feel durable. Turning on, connecting, & turning off: the frames connect very easily to your phone via Bluetooth. You can connect directly via your phones Bluetooth settings. Bose also has an available app, Bose Connect, to assist with connecting and to give access to additional apps that work with the frames. At first, I could not get Bose Connect to recognize the frames so I had no choice but to connect to my iPhone’s Bluetooth directly. After an update, the Bose Connect app started to see the frames as expected. After the initial set up, turning on the frames is as simple as a button press on the right arm of the frames. You’ll hear a voice that tells you are connected to your device and also tells you what precent is remaining on the battery. To turn off the frames, you simply turn them over for a second or two. Using the frames: You would always have the option of just wearing the frames while they are turned off, but what fun would that be? They work just fine as a normal pair of sunglasses but that would not take advantage of the frames. The magic happens when you turn them on and hit play. I am quite impressed with the sound that these frames can produce with these tiny speakers! The sound is exceptional, especially considering that there is nothing in your ears. The more impressive part is that the sound is not overpowering either. People around you have no idea that music is playing unless they recognize the frames. Since nothing is in your ear, you also can continue to hear everything going on around you. This is very cool and important if you are with a group of people. You can listen to music and still be as a part of any conversation as you want to be. I wasn’t expecting this until I used them myself. In addition to music, the frames work very well as a mic and speakers to answer phone calls. Hearing others is fantastic and anyone I spoke too told me that they could hear me crystal clear. Battery life: the battery life is ok, certainly nothing special. With constant use (music and/or calls), I think I got about 4 hours of use out of a 80-90% charge. With sporadic use (1 hour commute to and from work), the battery lasted a week and half. This involved wearing the frames while turned on but not listening to music and making a few calls. What’s not so great: The Bose Connect app serves the purpose of helping make the connection, but doesn’t really offer anything else that worthwhile. The Bose AR apps are new and neat little tricks, but i didn’t see anything exceptional. I played with Bose Radar one time. It’s neat, playing different parts of a musical score depending on the direction you look. It’s neat once, but I haven’t thought about opening that app since then. The other available apps feel like they’d be the same, use once and then forget about them. Here’s the bigger issue, the frames only come in one size! In addition to that, the frames are not the most flexible things either. This feedback will be extremely personal, but you have to try them out and make sure they fit comfortably on your head/face. For me, they simply do not. The arms squeeze the sides of my head, not like a vice grip, but enough to make them uncomfortable. They also would give me a little bit of a headache if I wore them too long. It’s a deal breaker for me. While it would be convenient to only carry one item, it looks like I’ll have to go back to carrying a pair of regular sunglasses and using my AirPods. Conclusion: I’d highly recommend Bose Frames to anyone looking for a product like this. I highly encourage you make sure they fit comfortably before committing. If they do fit, they would be awesome. Unfortunately that is not the case for me.

At first the glasses were great then after only a month they stopped working. When the arm is bent it says charged 100 percent then as soon as I straighten the arm to wear the power turns off. I am currently waiting for the Bose store to open to exchange for either another product or another pair of glasses. I only wore them 5 times and treated them with care.

It’s not the most comfortable pair that I’ve ever owned but it’s okay. The nose piece is not so comfortable especially when resting it on top of my head and it’s not because I don’t have hair. The edges of the nose piece was a bit rough. As expected, it is heavier than my plastic Oakley sunglasses. It’s not the most attractive pair of glasses but hey, I’m listening to my tunes while keeping me very aware of my surroundings and that’s important. I like the fact that I can talk on the phone without nothing in my ear or having to hold my phone. Easily interact with SIRI or whatever your phone uses by holding down the button a few seconds. However, I don’t like the placement of the button. Often, I’ll accidentally push it when I adjust or remove the glasses. Automatically connects to my iPhone when I power it on. When you power it on, it will tell you the battery percentage and what device it is connected to. The battery life is about 3.5 hours per Bose but I’ve been getting more than that with the volume set to a little more than half of max and that’s plenty loud for me. Open ear designed miniaturized speakers directs sound directly to you. Not very loud but surprisingly clear. Well, it is a Bose. No bass; Like listening to a transistor radio with better audio quality of course. Whenever I needed to hear something louder I would cup my hand over my ear to direct more sound towards my ear. The shatter and scratch resistant lenses blocks up to 99% of UVA/UVB rays. Not as dark as my Oakley but it does the job. Bose does offer interchangeable lenses for $20. It has Bose AR for audio augmented reality and it works. You can download AR apps from the Bose Connect app. I used the Bose Radar app to test this out and ithe experience is pretty amazing. About the cloth bag that comes with it. This is not for the glasses but for the charging cable instead. Just in case you were wondering. Overall, I really like this. Walking around (haven’t tried running with it) with this on while listening to music and still have attention to my surroundings. This works well when I drive a vehicle that doesn’t have a radio and that’s everyday at work. I would've love to see this at a lower price point but again, it's a Bose.
