Great Headphones. Disappointing Headset.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is sadly very disappointing. There is no-one that can question the quality and sound of the headphones, but this isn't a headphone review since these were sold as a gaming headSET. The addon headset microphone sounds worse than the built in headphone mic. The cheesy plastic mic clip and the fact that it doesn't all fit into the provided case are real negatives. It all really feels like it was an afterthought to add a cheap mic and call it a gaming headset which really takes away from the top quality type of products you expect from Bose. It will be returned tomorrow because while I don't mind paying these prices for quality, this product missed the mark as a headset.

Returned - Will Try Better Suited Headphones
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product quality seemed solid but rating is a combination of not being able to connect to my work laptop for use on various remote calls. Now, not what the product was designed for and the connection issue was perhaps more related to the laptop setup.

So light and comfortable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was pleasantly surprised to learn these can be used wirelessly as well as connecting to my gaming controller and my gaming pc with the included cords. These were smaller and lightweight, perfect for long hours spent gaming. I tested these out with several console games and my favorite pc game, great sound quality all around. The noise canceling works very well and is easy to change with the companion app. I've also used these for podcasts and watching movies on my phone and enjoyed that, the only thing I didn't love them for was just listening to music as I prefer other headsets for that. The storage case is very nice for keeping the cords organized until I need them and makes it easier to swap between pc and console. If you're looking for something to use with all your gaming that is comfortable long term I'd highly suggest these.

Horrible in-game adjustments
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’re looking for an easy to use headset for gaming on Xbox, this isn’t the one. The sound adjustments on the headset do not work when you plug in the microphone. The only options you have to change volume/chat is through the Xbox itself. Personally very disappointed for $330. Save your money and get the Astro A-40 or 50 series. You won’t be disappointed!

Very Good Noise Cancelling Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initial setup was easy and straightforward. I have these will the sole intention of using them for gaming, so the first thing I did was plug in the desktop controller. Windows recognized it immediately and it was usable right away. The volume dial turns smoothly, and the puck is heavy enough that it doesn’t move around on you. I do like the fact that Windows lets you control the volume independently of the system volume. With the desktop controller plugged in, you can raise or lower the headset volume separately from your audio volume. Next, I connected the headset to my iPhone via Bluetooth, and that also took no time at all. Within 30 seconds of downloading the Bose Connect app, I was streaming music and listening to podcasts. There was a firmware update available right away, so I queued that up for installation, which took about 45 mins. I was shocked at how long it took to install a firmware update, so just be aware when you take them out of the box. Fortunately, you are not required to connect to Google or Alexa. The app does try and force it on you, but that setup section can be skipped. But how do they sound? Music sounds good over Bluetooth and I never noticed how much Pandora will boost the bass and treble frequencies, this headset will accentuate that. Using on device music (same song), there was a definite difference. I will say that they sound very good, but I think the selling point on this headset isn’t the audio quality but rather the noise cancellation and the gaming integration. Noise cancellation works well, though I find the AirPods Pro’s implementation of noise cancellation to be more aggressive. That’s likely due to in-ear vs over ear. Noise cancellation affects everyone differently, and while the AirPods feel like my ear canals suck them into my skull when turned on, the Quietcomforts feel as if they are pressurizing the cups. The Bose noise cancellation gives me a headache without constant audio playing, the AirPods do not. YMMV of course. For gaming: While gaming I use Discord exclusively for voice chat with my friends. They were able to notice a quality difference from my previous headset (a well known brand), though I do need to move the mic closer to my face to get the same level of output on their side. Likely that is due to Bose using a less sensitive mic to prevent background noise. This is a big deal and you don’t really notice it since the boom is pretty short. Gaming audio, they work well. I play mostly Warzone (I use the Home Theatre preset), which is known to have pretty bad audio, and the the QCs handle it as well as they can given what they have to work with. Footsteps are audible (when my teammates shut up lol), and they work well at deciphering direction, better than the headset I was using prior. The levels are well balanced, and not overbearing. Thankfully Bose doesn’t seem to aggressively boost bass frequencies like they used to be known for. I did experience some annoyances though, that I will explain below. For reasons unknown to me, when the boom mic is plugged in for gaming you lose the ability to check battery level AND the noise cancellation button changes. For wireless audio noise cancellation is the button on the left earcup (unless you changed it to a virtual assistant with the Bose Connect app), for wired gaming it becomes the power button slider. Bose only has a small note in the Owner’s Manual about NC while the mic is connected, “When the headsets is (sic) powered off, noise cancellation is disabled.” It should say “To turn off NC while the mic is connected slide the power button to the off position” because it is not at all obvious that’s how to control noise cancellation when in gaming/wired mode. It took me way longer than I’d like to admit figuring out how to turn it off. It’s a bit backwards that turning the power button to off disables noise cancellation, BUT still allows you to use them as a gaming headset. I’m not sure why they went that route, but they did. Which also means the only way to turn actually turn them off after gaming is to unplug the mic. I’m not certain if the standby setting (in the Bose Connect app), has any affect while not using a Bluetooth connection. Here’s how I’d rate them: Ease of setup: 4 Audio: 4 Ease of use (if you’re a typical man that doesn’t read the owner’s manual): 3, otherwise 4 Mic quality: 5 Comfort: 5 Final thoughts. For strictly a gaming headset, unless you absolutely need noise cancellation, there are better options out there (Penrose come to mind). However, if you want a single set of lifestyle headphones with noise cancellation (arguable one of the best in the industry), that also work as a gaming headset, I don’t know if you’ll find anything that comes close. After the initial annoyance of figuring out how to operate them, I will say that I am satisfied with this headset, and I hope they’ll last me for many more rounds of getting killed by that guy I never even saw.
