HDMI connection was "flakey." Optical connection was fine. My setup: Vizio M50 TV Apple TV 4K (on HDMI 2 port) Bose 300 (on HDMI 1 ARC port) Spent hours trying various setup configurations but could not get HDMI ARC to work reliably. Returned the Bose for another brand that was plug and play and works flawlessly. Disappointing as I've been a long time Bose customer.

Purchased this as a gift for a friend. The box was labeled stating that everything was included, however, when opened the remote was missing. Currently unable to use the item. I called about four times to get the problem resolved but BestBuy has been of no help. Absolutely ridiculous! Better off buying directly from Boss.

Sounded great and worked great for the first few days. This device is very dependent on the app. That is not good when the rest of the family doesn’t want to deal with the app. Returning it today after only one week. Stopped connecting to my tv. I’ve tried everything I’ve read and nothing works. Back to the drawing board.

I am little disappointed with this speaker. I had great expectations while purchasing but it sounds flat and not feels worth for the premium price tag. I thought of using this as my TV speaker and as my Bluetooth speaker.. maybe for TV viewing it is ok. But for music I would recommend use other speakers this is not worth and has very flat delivery.

Clear compact voice assistant enabled soundbar

Its basically a smaller version of the Bose 500 smart soundbar. Visually they look identical with the exception of size. The 300 is a bit shorter than the 500. Using the Bose Music app to setup the soundbar, connect to wifi, and enable google assistant was flawless. Right off the back it had a firmware update which took a few min. They include an optical cable but would have been nice if they also included a HDMI cable for us who want to be able to utilize ARC/HDMI with our TVs. I connected via HDMI to the ARC port on my TV to allow it to give it better control. In the end it works flawlessly with my TV. The Bose Music app allows you to setup the soundbar, change inputs, adjust eq settings, stream music, update firmware, add speaker modules, and so on. Out of the box it has support for both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Also there is a mic button on the top of the soundbar so you can disable the mic if you don't want it listening waiting for its keyword. What I really like about the Bose soundbars is that I don't have to make a single sound profile or eq adjustment. Audio from my tv sounded great out of the box with zero adjustments. Dialog is very crisp and clear. Streaming music via bluetooth is where you will notice the difference. The 300 sounds really good but the 500 sounds great. But keep in mind that this is a smaller compact soundbar so that's sort of expected. Also note that this is a modular sound system so you can add other supported speakers. Adding the bass module will give you that deeper bass and adding the satellite speakers will give you more of that richer surround sound. Overall using just the soundbar is a huge upgrade over using the tiny built in TV speakers. Pros: Compact size Modular Clear audio with no adjustments needed Bose Music app support Wifi 2.4Ghz and AC 5Ghz support Bluetooth support Supports Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa Can change channels by speaking Includes remote and optical cable Supports ARC/HDMI Cons: no HDMI cable included In the end this is a great option for someone who is looking for a smaller profile voice assistant enabled soundbar for their TV that doesn't require any adjusting.

    Frustrating Installation

We are very frustrated with this purchase and installation. It was purchased on 12/5 and “installed” on 12/19/20 for my elderly parents. The installer set up and left within 45 minutes. My parents couldn’t get the sound bar to work after just a few short minutes of watching television with the sound bar on. We called and had another installer come on 12/22 and he explained that Geek Squad was unaware that Bose will only work for 30 minutes UNLESS you purchase certain wiring for their sound bar to work. This installer didn’t have these with him and advised my parents to buy on Amazon. These arrived on 12/28. The next installer is not available until 1/4 to come hook up the system that was supposed to be operating in full function on 12/19 as a Christmas gift to my elderly parents! I’ve never had such a bad experience with an installation before. So, we will have to wait to see how the Bose actually works after Best Buy gets their information and installation correct. Extremely disappointing.

    Very nice with one drawback

I have this hooked up to the tv in my wife's at home office where she spends the majority of her day. Very easy to hookup and install. Download the Bose Music App. connect to wifi and HDMI ARC on your tv and you are done. Pair whatever music services you subscribe to and your favorite voice assistant and you are ready to go. The app is very intuitive and easy to navigate. I especially like that there is a setting in the app to enhance dialogue when watching tv as that is one thing that I have found with soundbars that are not 3.1 capable is dialogue gets drowned out by background music etc. this has a setting called clear dialogue that eliminates that. Having the ability to connect with either Alexa or Google is also a plus, as you can change channels or pick your music with just your voice. It will also pair with many popular music services. In the app there are 6 presets so you can mark your favorites and go right to them without a bunch of scrolling. Sound quality is on par with Bose as it is excellent for a box of it's size. Crisp and clean with solid bass without being punchy. Remote is easy to use and not the size of a credit card so it will not be easy to lose but not too big to be a nuisance. There are audio adjustments within the app so you can tailor the sound to your likeness. Overall a very nice product and what you would expect from a company like Bose. It also has the ability to add a bass module and rear surround speakers which I am sure would make it even better. I do not have any other Bose products so I am not able to speak to the pairing with those products. The only drawback that I found was that I originally wanted to mount this to our wall mounted TV in the bedroom that has our current soundbar connected to it with brackets. This only has provisions for wall mounting it below a tv that is mounted flush with the wall and ours is angled and the soundbar mounts to the tv instead of the wall so we can't put it there without a bunch of modifications.

    Amazing sound, mediocre integration

In terms of sound quality, this bar lives up to every claim. Small, sleek with a compact form factor, I'm amazed it can put out such rich audio. The highs , mids and lows suit my taste, and their is a mini in-app EQ to make slight adjustments. For my use, I have a FireTV stick that's connected to a monitor in my daughter's room and needed a better way of outputting sound. I have yet to blast the volume, as getting to about halfway is too loud. Once again, couldn't be more pleased with the sound. Set-up was fairly simple. I was able to do most things without the app, but it does help in adjusting settings. I would have preferred a second HDMI. The monitor I am using does not support ARC nor does it have optical out. Luckily, the Bluetooth works extremely well in syncing with the Fire stick so this not a major issue as I understand my monitor may be a bit dated. Just be warned, only one HDMI and it is made for ARC. Now, the claim is that it can use either Google Voice or Alexa, this is where it falls short. My home has both, but dominantly Google. Once I connected it to Home, it basically shows up in the Home app with no functionality. In order to change volume, skip tracks etc, you have to use the Bose app. So that's one negative. The second is its limited music app compatibility. Being a Google user, and being this is Google Voice compatible, it wouldn't be a big jump to assume this would work with Google associated services. It's not supported. So in order to play music, I have to either change my default music service for all of my speakers(as well as subscription cost) or use the Bose app to play something through another service. So, in essence, this bar is still not "part" of my speaker eco system. Not important to some, but definitely a downside for my speaker group. Also, to date, no Apple music as well. This is the reason for the 4 vs 5 star rating. Sound quality, top notch, voice/app integration, mediocre for my needs. Would I recommend, absolutely, just with that caveat.

Within a week of installation, this device no longer worked. I figured it was the battery in the remote so I purchased another battery and still nothing. Called TotalTech Geek Squad and they came out today and said the device is defective, that it wont even get a signal. So now I have to go back to Best Buy, return and purchase something else and wait another couple of weeks for them to come install. So not happy being I've spent close to $10k in Best Buy this past month.

I did not know how much I needed this sound bar!  I paired it with a 70" 4K Samsung TV on the wall of a 20'x26' room.  Prior to having this sound bar I would need to adjust the TV volume if there was background noise in another room or even when the HVAC started running.  I found it was always either too loud or too soft.  Now that I have the sound bar, the volume increase is incremental and allows for perfect volume to enjoy a  movie but not wake the kids at the other end of the house.   In the box are the sound bar, power cord, optical cable, quick start guide, and remote. I was concerned that there would be interference for the remote, or it wouldn't respond well, which is common in my house full of Alexa and other wireless devices. So far there are no issues and the remote responds 100% accurately from the far wall.  Setup is easy, download the app, put the sound bar in setup and the app scans and finds the sound bar with easy to follow instructions to include pairing with other interfaces such as your cable / satellite / streaming service and Amazon Alexa. My favorite feature is that this now allows me to directly tune both the TV and sound bar output to a cable channel or music station leveraging voice commands through my Alexa device. Overall highly impressed with both the sound quality and the unique assistant features included with this sound bar.
