Also, when it did work and was turning the sound up and down there was no indication what level the sounds was out like every other sound device I've ever used. Returning it and getting the Sonos.

Hugely complicated electronic devise requiring the download of two apps and in-depth study of “user guide” which is hard to find. Stick with the basics, Bose. Let go of the frills.

So much more than TV sound!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this soundbar to replace the receiver and bookshelf speakers in our master bedroom. My wife has never liked having the medium sized speakers on stands in our bedroom. This soundbar fit between the TV legs with space to spare but it blocked the remote sensor so I had to place the soundbar a couple inches off center. The soundbar itself was easy to set up but it took some time to download the app, register and enter the credentials for Alexa, Pandora, XM/Sirius... It seemed that the Alexa wasn't working when I set up the speaker. I finally noticed a small switch on top of the speaker that toggled the microphone on and off. After switching the microphone on it was smooth sailing. The soundbar sounds great. The high frequencies are crisp and clear, the mids are great and the lows are about what you would expect from a soundbar. This soundbar is designed to work with a wireless subwoofer to get the full sonic spectrum. I can't wait to get the sub and hook it up. We have several Alexa devices around the house. This is by far the best sounding Alexa device we have heard. I can control the major TV functions with voice commands to Alexa. It's been fun to have Sirius/XM, Amazon and Pandora music controlled with voice commands. I have yet to try to configure my TIVO Mini to work with the soundbars voice commands, but I believe that I can. I also have yet to set up our HVAC thermostats (the installer set them up on Google Assistant). We have used Alexa devices in other parts of the house but not the bedroom before now. We have both enjoyed using the soundbar as an alarm and getting weather and news as we wake up. We both are asking Alexa to play music any time we are in the back of the house.

Not user friendly

It just wouldn’t automatically connect or stay connected. Spent some time on the phone with a Bose tech and he couldn’t get it to work either. Got this with the sub woofer and took both back.

The soundbar can be connected to any TV that supports an optical audio or HDMI-ARC output for sound. Almost all modern TVs will have at least one, if not both, of these options available to use, and you can easily check what audio outputs your TV has by checking the connections on the TV!
To get the sound working, most TVs will automatically switch outputs to use the soundbar once connected but you may need to select the soundbar from the TVs sound/audio settings to get it working.

Frustrated with Bose

The highs are crystal clear and doesn’t distort as you increase volume. The base is above par compared to most sound bars out their, but doesn’t come close to adding the base speaker. You can definitely use this as a stand alone unit with its spacious sound quality. I would upgrade to the 500 or 700 if this were in my living room though. The set up of this product was super easy, just make sure you download the Bose Music app. Bluetooth also works flawlessly. I most likely will purchase the base speaker only due to my liking of really strong base. I own quite a few Sonos products as well and this easily compares to what they carry. Sound quality holds true with Bose as expected and really like the google and Alexa voice control as well.

Clear sound bar

It was so easy to set-up right out of the box and easy to connect right to my television. I love how loud and clear it sounds and how there is a little bass to the sound. We used to have to put our tv up above 50 just to watch a movie and now we have this sound bar that gives out good, quality sounds so we can enjoy movies at home and get a the theater effects with it. It's so perfect to watch movie, sports and to play music. We watched "The Greatest Showman" using the sound bar and it was perfect. I cannot wait to watch other musical movies with it and just movies in general. I love how simple it is and how easy it connects to your devices either through bluetooth or HDMI. Its perfect!

A bit pricey

You must download the app to adjust the sound parameters because it is not possible on the remote or the device itself. As far as sound goes, it does have great spatial sound however the bass is what you would expect out of a small unit but with that said I would rate it best out of all smaller sound bars I’ve heard. The device is very sleek and super easy to hook up to your tv. It comes with a remote and an optical wire however I chose to hook it up with an hdmi (not included) so I can use my tv remote instead. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the price. I think it’s a bit pricey for the sound you get but again, it’s a small unit and it does sound fantastic for the size but don’t expect this to shake your house on movie night. Better suited for bedrooms or dens.
