Better Off with Something Else--BOSE!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You might think at $600 for a clock radio/CD player with good speakers you wouldn't want for anything. Sadly, this system from Bose is very Underwhelming! First, the unit is not even attached which is awkward and it separates. I can see no purpose for that--it is just plain dumb! Also, only 6 presets for stations? Really? Even a $25 alarm clock offers that. And only one CD capacity, why not 3 at this price. I know a lot of people don't have CD's anymore, but if you're going to have it and charge these prices, let's go the extra mile for the customer instead of under-changing people. Then there is the alarm clock: you have two alarm presets and you cannot even choose days of the week--it's one size fits all. My Sony clock radio that was $20 had that...why cannot Bose offer that on this $600 clock radio? And then the icing on the cake, Bose does not have a way to turn the alarm off on the unit. Everything must be done on the tiny remote which can easily get lost. This has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Yes, you want to go in the direction of less buttons but not at the expense of practicality! You have to order another $15 remote from Bose as a backup. As far as the reception goes, it's really poor with the built-in antenna which is actually the unit's plug. Bose actually charges you $10 for an external FM antenna. I couldn't believe that the above items were the case for this "state-of-the-art" unit, the creme of the crop of clock radios so I called up Bose. And wouldn't you know, I had to wait 15 minutes to simply speak with someone, and when he answered he did not say this is Brendan with Bose, he simply said hello, it seemed like I called a neighbor down the street. Really, this is how sad your customer service is Bose. At least Apple charges a lot but has excellent customer service. A friend of mine told me recently, at one time Bose was a great brand, when Mr. Bose was alive, but since that time, Bose has become a marketing company which happens to sell speakers. Ever notice any other speaker companies advertising or opening stores in every mall, no that's because those companies put their money into their speakers, ie. B&W, Klipsch, Sonos, etc. Bose over-hypes all of its products and charges top-dollar for them. Basically, Bose wants to charge you the most it can to give you the least possible in every way! For this price, I could've gotten Ihome's top-of-the-line clock radio/stereo and hooked it up to two Sonos speakers which would blow this thing away. I think it's one and done for you Bose!

no bluetooth transmitter
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bose Sound Wave IV only comes with a bluetooth receiver and no transmitter. That means if you own Bose bluetooth headphones you can't use them with the Wave IV without WiFi or spending $20 on a transmitter that plugs into the earphone jack. This may seem minor to most, but it does seem that a company that sells both could at least make them work together when it would be such a small addition cost. The sound is get and this is the third Bose radio I've purchased, so I would recommend it.

Posted .Hello Richard. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate the feedback and are glad to hear that you are enjoying the sound of the system. In order to use Bluetooth headphones with the system, you would need a transmitter than can connect to a 3.5mm output. Doing so will mute the Wave system. If you need assistance with setting that up, please do not hesitate to contact us at 800-380-4831. We are here to help Monday through Friday 9am to 9pm and Saturday 9am to 7pm EST.

Nice unit!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Bose wave system, the first one I got it back in 2011, the radio with CD player. its still sounds great! to this day. This unit sounds just as good but, of course also being it comes with all the modern day. Features.. Yes I do agree the price is crazy! I even called Bose and asked one of their customer service. Reps. And I said I just have 1 question why is it so much money? I would understand maybe 349 or even 399 but why 599. She didn't give me a good answer she really didn't know what to say? I guess you get what you pay for? But, yes the unit sounds great what can I say ? Try it if you don't like it take it back.

Awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Spent time in the Magnolia room at Best Buy trying out different speakers. They were all very high quality and I'm very thankful to the salesperson who helped me. Best Buy in Lafayette does not have the wave radio on display so I took a chance and purchased it based high reviews. Keep in mind it can be returned if you don't like it. I put the display cd in and put the volume on 80 as per instructions. I was overwhelmed at the sound quality. After 4 months of listening to different speakers I can promise that this quality will easily pass or rival any of its size. Make sure you compare apples to apples when comparing.

Excellent sound for a small form factor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read one review that praised this unit as they replaced "a full rack of equipment with large speakers and couldn't be happier". I have to wonder what that system was comprised of. No question, this unit provides the best sound I have ever heard from something with dual 3" speakers. But that's as far as it goes. There is just no way to produce low end frequencies properly with something of this form factor-it's sweet spot is mid-range which shouldn't come as a surprise. I have it in my office at the back of the house, away from our listening rooms, where I am looking for some background music while working. it really is exceptional that you can get this quality of sound out of a small box. I have never tried the radio, but listen to CD's as well as my local music streamed in AAC format from ripped CD's. very nice app on my iPhone to control it all. It's a great product, and i don't think it is too out-of-bounds price-wise.

Excellent full sound.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I compared the Wave IV system to the SoundTouch 20, which I own, and the Apple HomePod, which I owned briefly. The thing that stands out about the Wave system is the range of sound it covers; there are no weaknesses that I can hear. Rock, vocals, jazz, classical; everything I have listened to sounds... complete. I've owned it for 6 months, use it daily, and smile everytime I use it.

Rethink your thinking on Bose wave radio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased March 30th 2018 . Settting up the Bose was actually pretty easy . Connected to the WiFi simple . My first thing is did was play a cd . The sound quality? Eh ok . I then used the Bose app ,internet radio you have to turn the volume up because it’s so compressed and the sound quality again is eh ok . The best sound is from playing cds . The fm stinks . The internet radio quality stinks . I tried to like this $600 dollar overpriced marketing genius wave radio . Packed it up and returned it April 3rd . I consider myself a audiophile snob of sorts but this is based on sound NOT looks . I gave Bose a shot and Bose lost . Stay away from this CLOCK radio at best . Unless you got money to burn and you like crap sound then hey then this Bose wave radio is for you . One more thing I would like to add . The insignia table radio at bestbuy sounds worlds better for hundreds less . DO NOT BUY the wave radio . Trust this review or find out for yourself . Why are there good reviews . I have NO clue !

Good CD quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Problem I'm just looking for a Cd player, with radio. Antenna should be included with the price, too many alarm features, no RCA jacks, just too many things I will never use, making it too complicated. I would keep it but not for the price.

Older Bose models sound a lot better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fair sound quality...had a previous model, but wanted to upgrade for Bluetooth capability. Took it out of box to set up for a party about two weeks later. Speakers are just too small to provide wide sound quality. No way to really adjust sound quality. Just past return time- and cannot return. NOT worth the hefty price.

Posted .Hello Irritated. Thank you for your review of the Wave SoundTouch IV. We are sorry to hear of your experience. Fortunately, your Wave system is SoundTouch enabled and can be set up as part of a network. Our other larger SoundTouch speakers may provide more appropriate sound for your space and you can stream the same music to all speakers for the greatest coverage. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great day! Best Regards, Greg - Bose Support
