Works for windshield

I ended up returning this item because the clamps would not hold my Tom Tom. It kept falling out during a long distance trip. It may work better with a cell phone.

Great universal car mount for cell phones

The suction cup mounts on just about every kind of surface (windshield or dash, textured or not). You can rotate your phone so it's in the portrait or landscape position. It's also very sturdy so it won't move around if you decide to do some off-roading. When not in use it is small enough to throw in the glove box.
I would recommend this to a friend not versatile enough

Does not stay attached

Neither stay attached. When you first attach them all is good. Then out of the blue, even without the weight of the phone, it just detaches.

When I attach my iPhone the whole device falls off the dash. So far I have not been able to make it stay attached. Not sure I want to glue it to my vehicle

Would not stay fixed on dashboard

The mount would not stay fixed on the dashboard, fell off after an hour or so. It was returned for store credit.. Probably depends on the angle and the surface of the dashboard.
