These rubber suction cups can actually be rinsed off with water in order to ensure there is no residue blocking suction. We recommend you also rinse off your windshield / dashboard as well before applying the mount in order to remove residue. It has an expanded rear clamp to hold the phone in place. The mount itself is solid and mounts firmly on the dash. Excellent buy.
