Good-lookin junk: guaranteed to last for 18 months

It worked for about 18 months, then it said "good-bye". While it worked, I loved it. However, the "suction cup" part didn't even last a lot. Why should a product die on me this fast? Yes, I know about consumerism and the "lifetime expectancy" of cheap plastic electronics, but still. That's all? 18 months? My car is being kept in a garage, far away from harmful rays of the sun and extreme cold, and still, it died about 2 months ago... "Buy it or not to buy it" again? Would other ones last longer? Would I keep the receipt? Would I even remember that I bought it at Best Buy?... Anyway, my opinion is only one man's opinion :-)
