I bought the Braun Series 9 to replace an old Series 7 after the 7's charging base station stopped working. I feel like the Series 9 gives me a closer, more comfortable shave than the Series 7 did.

This is the third Braun Series 9 that I have owned. They are really good. You can tell they are, the product has been around for years and still keeps selling.

    Caution does might not last

Purchased July of 2020 Solid until recently the power button came off. So far it seems to work still… Definitely suggest caution as this is an expensive razor to have issues only a few year or so after purchase. My $20 Noreclo last over twenty years with no issues and would still be using as backup except my cord got lost. Will go back to a Norelco if this razor breaks to the point where it is not usable after only four years. Beyond frustrating!

Disappointed Not as good as 15 year old Braun

I have been shaving with foil razors for about 35 years now. I currently own a 15 year old Braun Series 3 model 7526 Syncro that uses a 30B cutter and foil. I also own a Panasonic ESLA93K. Both of these razors have cleaning tanks like the Series 9. The Braun is a 3 cutter system and the Panasonic is a 4 cutter system. I was given the Panasonic as a gift, about 5 years ago. I used it for about 1 year it cut fast and very close. I did not like it as the cleaning tank was terrible, a soap cartridge and a tank that needed cleaning out not thrown away like the Braun tanks. It also had a much larger head than the Braun. I only used the Panasonic tank for one soap cartridge as it was water proof and very easy to clean. The tank also charges the razor every cleaning wearing out the battery much faster. I went back to using the Braun but had to Purchase a new razor as Braun changed the design of the 30B cutter to make them cheaper to manufacture and i ran out of old ones. The new cutters do not work nearly as good as the older ones. After trying one of the new cutters I was not happy with the performance of the old Braun so I decided to purchase a new one. The Series 9, top of the line with 4 cutters and the titanium coating. I have shaved with it for 30 days and was not impressed at all. I was actually disappointed. It seemed to take a long time to shave my face and did not seem to shave very close at all. More disappointing was the cleaning tank. It loads from the back so you have to move it forward load the tank and slide it back on the counter top. My old one loads from the front. Also disappointing with the cleaning tank it now charges every cleaning once again like the Panasonic wearing out the battery faster. One other thing to note on the razor is the display. It is useless it is a bar graph for power remaining until it has 9 minutes left then the nine shows. You will never see the bars move if you use the tank as it charges up every cleaning and the razor tells you to clean it no matter how long you shave with it. After 30 day of use i decided to get out my old Braun Series 3 and shave with it right after shaving with the Series 9. It cut my face closer, I could hear it cutting hairs and my face was much smoother after using it. Its cutters are over 2 years old too. I did the same thing the following day and got the same result. A better shave with the 15 year old Series 3 with two year old cutters, after just shaving with the Series 9. I returned the Braun Series 9 under the 60 money back guarantee. I would have gone back to the Panasonic ARC4 but I gave it to my son to use. I went and purchased the newest Panasonic ARC3 model ES-LT3N-K it cost 1/2 what the Braun Series 9 cost, it did not come with a cleaning tank but its head is smaller than the old 4 head unit I gave my son. it too is water proof and easy to clean, no need for a tank. It cuts just as good and as fast as my old Series 3 Braun. Hope this helps

    Stick with the Series 7

    Posted .

I purchased this after my Series 7 trimmer broke after 3.5 years of use. I thought it would be an upgrade, but it actually performs significantly worse. With the Series 7, I have always had to use the trimmer a fair amount if I go a few days between shaving because the blade couldn’t get everything. I was concerned about the location of the trimmer on the Series 9, but hoped the improved blade would reduce the need for me to use it. Unfortunately, the blade on the Series 9 performs the same as the Series 7 at best. However, the trimmer on the Series 9 is garbage. It has this weird bump on it that makes it difficult to actually get the blade to touch your skin. It’s also located on the back of the razor, so you can’t see what you are trimming. The Series 7 trimmer is significantly better because of how it extends away from the body and makes it easy to see what you are cutting. I will be returning my Series 9 and purchasing a Series 7. I suggest other people just opt for the Series 7 to begin with, as I believe it to be the superior product.

skip the 9, and the cleaner, buy the 7 instead.

I had used the 7 for years, then "upgraded" to the 9. Not nearly as good as the 7 so I bought another 7 the next time I saw it go on sale and put the 9 under the bathroom sink to collect dust. For starts, the 9 is too big and bulky compared to the seven to give a close shave. The clipper on the 9 is a joke compared to the 7, and that's tough to do considering the 7 clipper left a lot to be desuired. Also, the cleaning station is a complete waste of money. I used my 7 for years, without the cleaning station and it worked great- the cleaning station is a waste of money. In summary, skip the 9, and the cleaning station, just buy the 7 razor and be happy you saved some bucks while getting a better shave.

    Poor quality and service

In my experience with the Serious 9 device, I faced a significant quality issue after a year of use when the power switch fell out. Seeking a resolution, I sent the device to a service center, which seemed to be operated by a third party. Unfortunately, Braun's customer service was unable to provide any updates regarding the service process. This lack of communication and the unprofessional demeanor of the service center staff were disappointing. This experience falls short of the standard set by reputable companies, which often replace defective products to maintain customer satisfaction and uphold their brand image.

I had high hopes after having the 7 for several years and loving it…. This one was an abysmal disappointment. Because I spent so much money on it I kept using it. Even sending it in for warranty in case something was actually wrong with the unit. They replaced something but tried to tell me to replace the head(after 8 weeks of use, seriously!)They basically don’t stand behind their product, shameful as much as it costs.

Recieved as gift so stuck with it. PULLS every strand of hair from my face. Takes forever to get a clean shave. Braun has sent me two additional heads to CORRECT problem. Improved but not good. Tried wet, tried dry.

    Underwhelming and underperforming

After reading contrasting reviews about this Braun 9 Series, more positive than negative, I decided to give this product a try. I've had the Series 7 for nearly eight years, but it was beginning to see its end. Unfortunately, I'm so disappointed with this purchase. I use the shaver mainly for my beard (facial hair) but find the precision to be weak - even after going over the same area multiple times in multiple directions. It's so upsetting that I revert to using a straight razor to get the remaining stubble. I thought about returning the item after the first couple of unsuccessful tries but decided to give it another shot. To this day, I remain unsatisfied and prefer the older model instead. If I could return this now, I would, but don't see myself using a product with underwhelming results.

Price doesn't necessarily equate to quality

For the price the quality is subpar. I've owned this shaver for just over 2.5yrs and it's already falling apart. I've had shavers in the past at this price point that have lasted for at least 5yrs.

    Braun Series 9

Not sure who this razor would work for because it has been miserable for my handicapped husband. He has had many years of success with his other Braun razors. So I have tried to help him. I thought it was me. Then several home health aids tried to help him with it. They complained. It's not just that it delivers a miserable shave but then try to clean the fussy item. Don't buy it!
