I have been following Cyndi Lauper since her magical She's So Unusual days. When I learned Cyndi would be releasing a new album of original material since 1996's Sisters of Avalon, I was beyond ecstatic. Bring Ya To The Brink brings back the magical touch of Cyndi Lauper, a ala dance genre. Track-by-track review: 1. High & Mighty (9/10) - Lauper and Scumfrog teamed up to kick off the new dance album. Excellent chorus and airy beats, very danceable. 2. Into the Nightlife (10/10) - Clearly one of the best and standout tracks on the album. Guaranteed to make you move; watch out for the new video that was recently filmed at Splash in NYC. This is going to be the 2nd single released from Bring Ya. 3. Rocking Chair (10/10) - Lauper and Basement Jaxx teamed up to produce this wild, fun and entertaining track. Would love to see this as a single released. You go Cyndi! 4. Echo (10/10) - Very hypnotic and danceable. This track is amongst the highest played from this album. 5. Lyfe (5/10) - Hints of Marvin Gaye influence on this track. Not all tracks can be a 10, unfortunately. 6. Same Ole' Story (8/10) - First single released; remixes are much better than the original. Took a few times for me to like this track. 7. Raging Storm (7/10) - Nice, chilling out song. 8. Lay Me Down (10/10) - Kleerup, the Swedish producer behind Robyn, and Lauper team up in this awesome track. Turn it up and just savor the beats and sound. Another track with single potential! 9. Give It Up (9/10) - Upbeat... a "Hard Candy" track. 10. Set Your Heart (8/10) - 1st single released in Japan. Already a Top 10 hit. Also the anthem to Toyota's latest commercials in Japan. Very disco'ish, retro sounding, yet cool. 11. Grab A Hold (9/10) - Canada's Dragonette and Lauper team up on this track. This is my dark horse pick for a potential single. Love the passion Cyndi shows on this track. 12. Rain on Me (10/10) - One of the slower dance tracks on the album, but yet danceable to after a series of nice dance tracks. Perfect closer to an incredible album! Axwell and Lauper teamed up to produce this track. Overall: A nice comeback for Cyndi Lauper. I often wish Cyndi made BYTTB a double album. This album is really cool and that GOOD! 9/10.

My least favorite song is Lyfe. My favorite varies from Into the Nightlife to Rocking Chair to Echo, to Same ol story to Ragin Storm to Lay me down to Give it Up to Set your Heart to Grab a hold to Rain on Me. Two most favorites are rain on me and Into the nightlife. I have always loved Cyndi and this CD is the best yet. She did what Madonna wanted to do with Hard Candy - Make the old stuff new again. There are hints of her first few albums on here and I loved it. It did not come across forced Like Madge's and trust me I am the biggest Madonna fan but Cyndi wins this CD battle hands down. Bought both, Madonna's first but I have played this CD more, woken up to it more, played songs at juke boxes more, downloaded to jukeboxes for others to experience more. I have done more with this than any other CD since Ray of Light. This is Cyndi's Ray of Light and she did not need a golden globe to make this CD.
