Customers are saying

Customers find value in the DS-920DW Wireless Duplex Mobile Color Page Scanner's ease of use, excellent scan quality, and compact size. Many appreciate its wireless capabilities and the convenience of scanning to an SD card, along with the long battery life and duplex scanning feature. However, some users experienced challenges with the scanner's software and setup process, and a few noted compatibility issues, particularly with Mac systems. The price point is also frequently cited as a positive aspect.

I purchased this unit so I can keep track of my business receipts so I don't have to scramble at the end of the year with a bunch of small receipts and some are unreadable after fading. The scan to SD card is the easiest. The wireless scan feature to the Brother Receipts portal will cost you money. I won't scan to OneDrive though. You will need to connect the cable to transfer the files.

I wanted something to quickly scan documents at a site that didn't allow computer access, and this worked. It scans quickly, does double sided in one pass, stores as PDF (or JPEG if I wish). Problem: Although the documentation says it has a black&white mode, I cannot get it to switch to that mode without using the computer based driver, so in the field I only have grayscale and color. I'm scanning mostly B&W documents. All of them get scanned as a medium gray background, not white, so if I want to print any later I have to manually edit the gray levels and make the background white. Really time consuming. Wish there was a button to switch to B&W mode. I used the calibration sheet that came with it, but didn't make a difference. Looking to replace it.

While I was installing driver and (too much software) from CD, I scanned several pages, black and white and color, one and two sided to the SD memory card. My computer had no problem downloading the documents. The scanner is very portable, so the only time I'll need wifi is to download to phone or tablet. One day I'll look at all the software that came with scanner. just don't feel the need. The DS-920DW is a great portable scanner with a modest price.

    Not exactly as advertised

We are a chiropractic office so we need to scan insurance cards, ID's, etc. on patient's. We were in need of another duplexing scanner so when I saw the wireless advertised for this model I thought perfect now we can use it at any of the work stations and immediately the scanned document will be available. While this is technically true the part that is missing in the advertising and product information, even from Brother, is that the "wireless" scanning has to take place over a wireless connection between your computer and the scanner. It does not connect to your current wireless network. You have to disconnect from your current wireless network and connect to the scanner to use the wireless. Even if you connect to it the interface is clunky and slow. It works good as a wired scanner.

    Not Fully Mac Integrated

Product states it works with Mac. That's half true. If you have updated to OS X 10.8 or higher you have to use the Brother TWAIN scanner software which isn't even retina capable so it doesn't look that great. I;d rather use the integrated Image Capture and reduce 3rd party glut on my PC. What I did scan looked OK and overall the device felt sturdy. Like other have said WiFi is hit or miss.

    Difficult to use, clunky software!

It only scans when connected to the PC by the USB wire. Impossible to figure out how to set up its wireless scanning as it requires some weird wireless connection, meaning you have to disconnect from your own wireless network and connect to this scanner's own network. After 10 days trying to figure out how to make it scan wireless, I have to give up! Too complex to connect it wireless! Too bad for a scanner that tries to sell its main feature as a "mobile" scanner! It comes with many software programs but most are useless or have outdated features. BR-Receipt requires you to set up template for each receipt or else it won't recognize text and number properly. That defeats the purpose of scanning receipts as you spend a lot more time to fumble around the setting receipt template matter! Nuance Paperport imposes a preset folder structure that is complicated to customize! What can I say, I've wasted so much time trying to make this scanner work, but it is far LESS capable than how it is advertised. I run out of patience! It goes back to a nearby Best Buy store as soon as the store opens today!

    Worthless WiFi

The WiFi connection on this Brother portable scanner is completely useless. You have to disconnect from your internet connected WiFi and directly connect to the Brother scanner, so you cannot save directly to your already in use cloud based storage. Basically you cannot connect the Brother scanner to your WiFi router or your WiFi access point.

I tried to like it but it's too esoteric

Inconsistent except the vast majority of time it fails with an error. For best results I recommend you iron your documents before scanning them. It doesn't like bumps. Pharmacy receipts that have stickers on them always fail. Too thick I suppose. The biggest disappointment is it can't handle extra long store receipts. It will "jam" at some point. Always and without regard if it being the same receipt or not. Very close to being junk.

Brother says it will be late November before they can come out with drivers for OS10.12, Apple's newest system. Unwilling to wait that long. This upgrade has been talked about for months, so its not like Brother didnt know it was coming. Very disappointed.
