Highly recommended!!!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased this Brother printer, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice! Right out of the box, it was clear that this printer was designed with the user in mind. The setup process was incredibly straightforward – the instructions were easy to follow, and I had it connected to Wi-Fi and ready to print within minutes. Navigating the printer’s settings is intuitive, even for those who aren’t tech-savvy. The touchscreen display is clear and responsive, making it simple to select options, scan, or adjust settings on the fly. The printer’s mobile app is also a fantastic feature, allowing me to print directly from my phone or tablet, making printing on the go a breeze. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with how user-friendly this Brother printer is. It’s perfect for anyone who values efficiency and convenience. Highly recommend it!

Great for text, expensive to use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My review is going to focus on setup, build quality, print quality and cost to use. I won’t be repeating specs and features because that’s already stated. The printer was well packed and included a power cord and the drum and toner assembly. The instructions showed how to remove the tape and use a QR code to go get the app(s) you need to set up the printer. I set mine up on my S23 Ultra, iPad and Windows PC via WiFi router. The procedures were easy and I didn’t have a problem. The power cord plugs directly into the printer, no power brick or wall-wart. WiFi connection is dual band. You can also connect via ethernet cable or USB 2. Build quality feels sound and the printer isn’t any noisier than any other. There is a cooling fan on the right side that runs as needed. You can hear it running, but it’s quiet enough as to not be distracting. There’s some function buttons on the top left and a single line alphanumeric LCD display that shows status and scrolls messages when needed. The paper bin is on the bottom. There’s a place to load paper above that for one-off things. Paper discharges on top. See specs for more on paper capacities. Does double sided printing. Print quality is good, but a mixed bag too. I compared it to an HP Laserjet tank 2504DW laser printer and a Canon Maxify GX3060 inkjet printer that uses pigment ink as opposed to dye ink for deeper blacks and colors. See scans. Print Quality Options: Sharpness The Brother’s printer software gives more print resolution options (4) than the HP’s (2) and Canon (3). The Brother offers 300 dpi, 600, dpi (default setting), 1200 dpi and 1200HQ. I couldn’t tell any difference between 1200 and 1200HQ so didn’t include a scan sample of the two. There’s also a setting for printing text or graphics / text. Graphics / text is the default setting and did the best job. Text was only very slightly improved in the Text mode and if you printed any graphics with any kind of gradient, Text mode made it look pretty bad. 600 dpi is the default setting and looks as good as the 1200 setting for text. The 300 dpi did good as well for text. Photos and gradients is where you would see the difference. At 300 dpi the gradients look like pattern dithering you would see in Windows 3.1. It gets better at 600 dpi and looks its best at 1200 dpi. Of course, this isn’t a photo printer, but there are plenty of times where graphics with a gradient to a tone between black and white will need to be printed. That’s why I’m covering it. I printed my test sheet from Photoshop with default settings, and a sample part of another review I did in Google Docs and printed from Chrome at 600 dpi. I scanned it at 1200 dpi to show detail. See scans. Compared to the other mentioned printers: Color to grayscale When printing a color page to grayscale with default settings where the printer handles the color to grayscale conversion, the Brother came in last. The HP first and the Canon inkjet second. I expected the inkjet to win here. The Brother’s output was darker than the others and had lines. The HP did much better, but even it had some lines visible. Tone between black and white is better on the color chips and the two black to white gradient bands are smoother. The Canon did the best with the color chips but where is the yellow gradient to white line at? No surprise that the deepest blacks go to the laser printers. I also included the original file I use to test printers and scanners with. See scans. Compared to the other mentioned printers: Sharpness It’s a tossup between the Brother and HP in default settings (600 dpi) on plain paper. If it were printed on photo paper that doesn’t (barely) bleed, the Canon would win. The Brother’s 300 dpi draft / “eco” mode beats HP’s “eco” mode hands down. See scans. Why I included an inkjet: Just to give readers something else to compare to. Cost to use: The Brother is the most expensive to use based on the cost of toner cartridges, there are two sizes, and the number of sheets of paper they will print per said cartridge. This is going by the industry standard that companies base their specs on. Also, the included cartridge with HL-L2460DW is only a starter cartridge good for 700 sheets. Low price on the front end and high supply cost on the backend. This is a common practice among all companies making printers. Ok if you don’t print much, but if you’re going to be using it a lot, there are other options for less expensive use in the long run. But it will cost you more up front when you buy the printer. The HP I compared it to costs about twice as much to buy, but you refill it with cheaper bottles of toner that produces more printed sheets than either Brother replacement cartridges. It also comes prefilled with 2 bottles of toner. Same with the Canon, but with ink. And it came with 4 full bottles. Not “starter” bottles that are less than one quarter full. The “starter” practice shouldn’t be allowed, and all the printer manufacturers are guilty. The HP is the cheapest to operate of all three. Pros: Easy to set up and use. I like the apps on all the devices I installed it on. I like the little single line LCD display. The HP lacks this. Fairly small footprint. No power brick. Good print quality for the price. Best draft / eco print quality. Replaceable selenium drum. Cons: Expensive to use. Very expensive if you plan on using it for those high duty cycles it’s rated for. Noticeable dithering patterns on gradients and possible on gray tones. Conclusion: If you plan on printing mostly text with low use rates, this will fit the bill. Test is its strong point. For moderate to high usage, I’d consider another printer that is cheaper to use. If what you’re going to print is going to have any kind of graphics that have any kind of shading or gradient that go from light to dark, you might want to consider a different printer. Be it a laser or inkjet.

Excellent Printer - Even for Shipping Labels
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m already a Brother printer fan. I bought one about 10 years ago that I use for printing shipping labels and it’s still going strong. The new Brother printer HL-L2460DW is smaller - roughly 14x14x7 inches. It’s strictly a printer and doesn’t copy or scan. It has a one line LCD screen and 4 navigational buttons - Back, OK, Up and Down. There is no keypad to input letters or numbers. I had a horrible experience with the wireless set up. My first try was through the app. The app told me to press the wireless button and when “Check PC/device” showed on the printer screen to go to the “next screen”. “Check PC/device” showed up on the printer OK, but there was no next screen on the phone or on the printer LCD. The app couldn’t find the printer, the printer timed out, and after 5-6 tries, that was the end of that method. Next I downloaded the set up software and tried that way. The instructions were poorly written and it still couldn’t find the “machine”. The only recommendation was to unplug the router and retry. 10 times of that method got me nowhere. I was just about ready to buy a USB cable and resort to that method when I remembered the printed Quick Setup Guide that came with the printer. On the back was a Manual Wireless Setup section. The instructions omitted some steps that were needed to find the Network menu option using the 4 buttons on the printer, but I was eventually able to find it and then WLAN (Wi-Fi). The printer quickly found my router and I selected it. Then it asked for the Network Key (password), followed by a blank screen. How was I supposed to enter my password without a keypad? The answer is: press the up and down keys to cycle through numbers 0-9, then a lower case alphabet, an upper case alphabet and finally about 20 characters. I couldn’t type ABCabc123 quickly because the next character up was random. It took at least 500 button pushes to enter a 10 character password. That was ridiculous. There should be a way to connect where the password can be typed using something that has a keypad. At least I shouldn’t have to do that too many more times. The menus are a little tedious to navigate with just one line of text and 4 buttons. I was able to find a list of the menu options and sub options in the online manual which helped me find my way around. When I first used the printer, it was quite noisy and made me jump when it started. Changing it to quiet mode helped. I also changed the “Replace Toner” setting from “stop” to “continue” when low toner was detected. The printer is great. The shipping labels are clear and clean. The ink doesn’t smear or chip off. Some other printer brands I tried didn’t get hot enough to fix the toner to the label. There have been no paper jams or network issues. It quickly goes into deep sleep (sleep timing can be adjusted in the menu) but when it gets a print job, it’s ready to print in a few seconds. With any luck I’ll get more than 10 years out of this one too. Like most printers these days, Brother offers a toner refresh program. I haven’t been able to calculate cartridge purchase vs. subscription price because I can’t find TN830 toner for sale anywhere yet. With the subscription (which allows Brother to monitor your printing), 300 pages a month costs $9 and 100 pages costs $3.49. Three cents a page could be a little below retail but if I pay for more pages than I use or if I have to buy additional sets of pages at 5 cents/page, I lose the savings. When printing shipping labels I print on half the page and put it back in the printer to print the other half later. That would count as 2 subscription pages. For now, I’ll just hope that there is enough starter toner to get me through until TN830 is available for sale.

A might printer with a small footprint
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Brother HL-L2460DW laser printer fits well in a small business environment or for an individual user that prints a lot of documents. The print speed of this printer is impressive at 36 ppm. It handles large print jobs with ease, producing crisp, professional-looking black-and-white documents at a rapid pace. Whether you're printing text-heavy reports or lengthy documents, the HL-L2460DW gets the job done quickly and efficiently. The print quality is outstanding, delivering sharp and clear text that rivals the quality of more expensive laser printers. The black-and-white prints are well-defined, making it an ideal choice for business documents, presentations, and academic papers. The printer's 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution ensures that even the smallest details are captured accurately. One standout feature of the HL-L2460DW is its wireless connectivity. Setting up the printer on my wifi network was easy, and I can now print seamlessly from my laptop, iPhone, or iPad via AirPrint since I’m using Apple products. The Brother iPrint&Scan app further enhances the user experience, allowing for convenient mobile printing and scanning for those on other operating systems. Additionally, the printer comes with automatic duplex printing, saving both time and paper by effortlessly printing on both sides. This eco-friendly feature not only benefits the environment but also helps reduce printing costs in the long run. The HL-L2460DW's compact design makes it a space-saving addition to any home office or small business setup. The easy-to-navigate control panel and intuitive menu further contribute to the overall user-friendly experience. In terms of durability, the build quality of this Brother printer is robust. It feels sturdy and well-built, giving confidence in its ability to withstand regular use. The paper tray has a decent 250 sheet capacity, reducing the need for frequent refills during high-volume printing sessions. In conclusion, the Brother HL-L2460DW Wireless Black-and-White Laser Printer is a fantastic investment for those seeking a reliable and efficient monochrome printer. Its impressive speed, excellent print quality, wireless capabilities, and eco-friendly features make it a top contender in its class. I highly recommend this printer for anyone in need of a dependable workhorse for their printing needs.

Budget friendly laser printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Brother - HL-L2460DW is a nice budget friendly printer with duplex printing that’s great for a home office. Setup is easy and straightforward with the brother app and even someone who isn’t good with setting up tech can have it up and running quickly. Besides the duplex printing feature the other big feature for me is being able to print from an iPhone or iPad via AirPrint. Using more and more mobile devices this is a huge convenience when not on my pc. Though I’m not sure it’s needed with a printer, it is capable of using either 2.4ghz or 5ghz wireless spectrum. While using the app to setup the machine is easy, the app doesn’t have much functionality. You can use it to print, though with AirPrint you don’t need to. You can’t update the firmware for the machine with the app which is kinda surprising. When you try it directs you to Brothers website and wants you to create an account. Not the end of the world especially if you are using this with a pc, as it can easily be done from there. Overall, it’s a nice budget friendly printer with good speed and duplex printing.

A very nice printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer replaces a +20yr old Brother printer. I went to get a toner cartridge for it and it was hard to find, and when I found it it was more expensive than I expected. My old printer was 300dpi, this one is 1200dpi. My old printer printed 10-12ppm, this one prints 36ppm. My old printer was not wireless, I could not easily print to it from my phone or tablet. My old printer had no security services, this one has all the latest. My old printer consumed 12w in standby, this consumes 0.4w. Both printed double sided, but this one is SO much faster. my old printer had 4gb memory, this one has 64gb (handling graphics much better). And this printer is so much quieter when printing (49db). I took the toner out of its package, removed the protective plastic on the cartridge, ran the cleaner back and forth (green tab on cartridge) and then inserted the cartridge. I turned it on, and then followed instructions using the Brother "Mobile Connect" application, which optionally allows you to print on your printer from anywhere in the world (over the internet, when registering it and setting up an account with Brother). And this printer is eligible to work with the Brother Refresh program, which will ship you new printer cartridges before you run out of toner (program based on number average number of pages printed per month). Set up was complete in under 5 minutes. Extremely easy to do with their app. I printed a couple of documents that I had on my phone and found that the quality of normal and fine printing to be nearly identical. Normal uses less toner. And the speed to get the first page printed was under 8 seconds. The output was exceptional. So for a few dollars more than a new cartridge for my old printer I have a printer that is 3x faster, with 3x the quality output and it's quieter and uses far less power and I can print on it wirelessly. New standard output cartridges are about $50/cartridge (less than half what I need to spend on a new cartridge for my old printer. Seems like a winner all the way around. I am most happy with my upgraded Brother printer. If I get another 20 years out of this printer it's an excellent deal.

Great budget Monochrome (B&W) laser printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The brother HL-L2460DW is an excellent low cost and efficient printer. I use Brother laser printers from monochrome to color and all have been great. The 2460DW is replacing a Brother 2070N I got in 2006 that lasted through multiple drums and toner and never stopped cranking out paper. But it’s gotten old. I got it in 2006 for $140 and the 2460DW is basically the current version of it now for an MSRP of $160. More memory, more features, and 17 years of improvements. I got the 2460DW because I want an Ethernet port on the printer to connect to my home network. Anyone operating wirelessly can still connect and print to the printer. The printer also has wireless (2.4GHz and 5GHz bands) built in, and an USB connection. One big difference between the 2460DW and the non ethernet versions, the 2400D and the 2405W, is the 2460DW has double the memory of them. The 2460DW has 128MB RAM the others only 64MB RAM. The 2460DW also prints faster in single and double sided mode than the other two versions. The 2460 is compact, about 7”x14” and 15lbs. and holds 250 sheets of paper (20 lbs). It has automatic double sided printed if wanted. It comes with a standard toner cartridge, ~1200 pages, and has an XL cartridge, ~3000 pages. The cartridges are the TN830 and TN830XL respectively. Setup is easy. Basically, unpack and slide in the drum/cartridge unit, plug int and turn on. There is a 1 line LCD screen to help in setup. I was able to assign an IP address directly through the interface. If not, you can use wi-fi or USB. Setting up the printer through the software was simple too, although for wired you use the wireless selection, and it installs fine. The 1 line LCD screen conveys a lot of information and lets you alter the printer as you wish, but it’s easier through the software. For low end printer you won’t get an LCD screen, but, the 1 line LCD line does the job. A sticker on the back has the default password and MAC addresses. The Brother BRAdmin Professional 4 software utility picked up my printer and all its settings with no issues. I can see it with all my other Brother printers. If you don’t want to install the full software and just print, using the Windows add printer function will also work fine. Windows saw the printer and installed the basic drivers on other computers and laptops. You can also get software to print from mobile devices. I had no issues using them. The 2460DW prints up to 1200x1200 dpi. Black and white and grayscale look fantastic. Letter size 1 sided is up to 36 pages a minute and 2 sided up to 8.5 double sided pages a minute. First page can print in less than 8.5 seconds. I used with standard 20lbs paper and had no issues. No jams or blemishes on the paper. The printed area will hold up to 100 pages. There is a manual slot for envelops and other paper types too. Overall, it’s not too loud and prints come out great. Saves a ton of money over inkjet if you don’t need color. Laser printers are precise, fast, and this one not too expensive. Manuals and printer specific software and drivers can all be found on the Brother website if needed or wanted. If you don’t need a scanner/fax/copier and don’t have huge volumes to print this Brother printer works. Its recommended monthly volume is ~2,500 pages. It’s a simple printer and works, and the build quality seems good. The printer can also be used with Brother refresh if you know how much toner you need on a consistent basis. I expect this printer to last a long time.

Solid and Simple Laser Printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Brother laser printer is great. It came very well packaged. There was an overabundance of paperwork - most unnecessary - but the Quick Setup Guide was clearly written and easy to follow. The toner cartridge was extremely easy to install (I have fought installation in some other laser printers). The paper was also easy to load and has guides that are well marked for sizes. Once turned on, the machine instantly said "Ready". I did have an issue with the online setup of the wireless network. It just kept circling trying to connect. So I manually added the network right on the printer - very easy and connected without a problem. The best part of this laser printer is the clear quality of the prints and the fast printing. I occasionally have to print large numbers of documents, and this printer prints 2-3 times faster than my inkjets. The quality is better too. Overall, I highly recommend this Brother laser printer - it's quality built, easy to setup and use, and prints clearly and quickly.

Great Home or Small Office Printer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Printer is reasonably priced for the quality and speed of this unit. Easy to set up and operate. Compact size is a plus and, although compact, it has plenty of the right features (auto duplex for two sided printing, can handle labels and envelopes, holds plenty of paper). Great print quality.

Great printer with terrible software
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The printer is small, compact, quick and quiet. I'd love to give this a 5-star review, but the software is substandard. It's an essential part of the printer's operation, so it brings the entire score down. It comes with a suite of five different applications, which seems like a lot for a monochrome printer with no fax or copy capabilities. None of these apps have been updated to match modern Windows design aesthetics. On Windows 10, the iPrint application (that lives in the system tray to monitor the printer) also leaves an invisible app in the Alt+Tab interface, which is annoying. The firmware updater displays a modal window that can't be dismissed and sits on top of all other apps until you complete the process. I still recommend the printer because you will probably enjoy using it if your printing needs are basic, like mine. But the software drags the experience down.

I recommend this printer
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This the first printer I ever bought for myself. I chose a toner printer because I almost never print anything in color, and even if I did, I don't expect consumer printers to be well calibrated. Further research revealed toner essentially never goes bad, unlike ink, which dries out in 6 months. Truth be told, if you're using the latest version of Windows 10, you don't need to install Brother's adware. Just look up "printer" in Windows search after setting up the printer, locate it, and Windows will calibrate. It takes longer if you set up it via Wi-Fi. I find the prints to be crisp and attractive. Quality is as high as you can expect. I initially set this up via WI-FI, but found the connection dodgy, sometimes taking 5 minutes before the printer even received the signal (and that was after disabling "deep sleep." Look that up). It's a shame the box didn't have a printer cable, and that's why I'm docking one star. I bought a 15 foot printer cable, and now my printing is instant. I still have not installed Brother's software. Windows Update did add a few drivers, but given the printer was working before that, I'm not sure what difference they made. Installing the official software would just yield ads for refilling subscriptions. No thanks. I recommend this printer.

Works like a charm
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to set up, prints fast, double sided works great, no connectivity problems whatsoever. I print coloring books on high quality paper, and use it for foiled cardstock illustrations, both of which require high quality detail to look right. I have run into a little bit of messy extra toner on some pages, which isn't a big deal for my purposes and seems to have somewhat resolved itself after running more pages through it.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive bought 3 inkjets in the past and theyre junk. The concept is junk. They sit for months and you use them sporadically and all of a sudden they no longer work. Laser printers arent like that. very good printer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is only a printer not a copier or scanner and I wanted a multi-function machine, but that was my error. As a printer it set up remarkably fast, was easy to connect remotely and ran just fine. I have replaced it but my wife will be able to use it for laser printing instead of inkjet printing which is faster and cheaper.
