Customers are impressed with the INKvestment MFC-J985DW Wireless All-In-One Printer's excellent print quality and ease of use, finding it easy to set up and operate. The printer's compact size is also a plus for many users. However, some customers noted that the paper tray is small and the printer can be a bit loud during operation.

    I really like this printer

Prints look really nice, even if I print in grayscale. I have not tried to print photos. It was easy to set up, scans well too. Wifi works great so I didn't need a printer cable. I haven't had it long so I can't speak for how long the ink tanks last but I know brother lasts a long time. I like how easy it is to put the inks in on the front.

Compared to my previous Epson, this printer uses much less ink. Scanning is ok although I wish the feeder could accept more pages. Quality of output is less than my previous printer, but can probably be adjusted through the settings. Satisfied with printer so far.

Unstoppable Self Cleaning Cycles Drinks Ink

This printer has reasonable features and works fine. The big problem is that it has a self-cleaning cycle that comes on constantly, even if the printer is turned off. So regardless of frequency of actual printing, as long as the printer is plugged in, you'll be out of ink in all cartridges in a few months. Furthermore, there's no way to disable the self cleaning, and no way to reduce its frequency of occurrence. If you google the topic, you'll see others have complained about this to no avail. I'm under the impression this self cleaning happens with almost all printers in the Brother inkjet line. The manufacturer's official response is that the self cleaning cycles are necessary to ensure the printer delivers a high-quality print every time it's used. What they don't say is that this is an excellent way of forcing consumers to buy overprices ink cartridges continuously. The Brother MFC-J985DW is advertised as an ink miser when compared to other printers, which is the biggest reason for my choosing it. Unfortunately, the unstoppable cleaning cycles more than negate what small amount of ink I may have saved during actual printing. This is my first Brother printer, and it will be my last.

Obviously a normal person doesn’t buy a printer often, but when you do you hope for it to do what you purchase it for. This product, by far this has been overall a much better printer than any I’ve had prior. Quality of prints- Length of time ink lasts- Smoother Wireless interaction and functionality.

This printer was purchased to replace an HP printer that was very difficult to manage. Once I got it set up it works fine. The plastic paper try is on the cheap/delicate side so if you buy one of these printers handle with care. So far it has obeyed my commands.

This is one of the best moderately priced all-in one-printers on the market. Set is is pretty easy, and it does a good job with duplex printing. Also ink use/management is great. The paper tray is a bit small. Print quality is good. It is compact and gets the job done.

Used this for several years now with no problems and very good performance. Best value at this price point. A bonus is the ink cost which is lower than most and available from multiple suppliers. Very nice to have multi sided printing too.

Easy set up and simple ink installation. Speed is decent and print quality is pretty good. One major problem is wireless connectivity with Apple (iOS) products. Had to give up on wireless and use a cable.

I got this printer to replace an aging H P printer that cost over $100.00 to install new ink cartridges. This printer does everything my old printer does except better. Photo prints are excellent and it’s not an ink hog. I can replace all the ink cartridges well under $100.00 when it’s time.

I've had quite a few Brother inexpensive inkjet printers for our office. They need to print every day or so to keep from clogging up. This printer features very cost effective ink tanks with a large capacity which more than makes up for the higher price. The print engine is faster as well.

Set up was a breeze, for all our laptops, tablets and I-Phones. (WI-FI) Little confusion over the promotion regarding 2 years of ink cartidges- as offered on the display rack in store. Long history with HP products- not any more.
