Pretty easy to install

Although, I don't print a whole lot of items, just the occasionally mailer or report, the yellow cartridge I installed a couple of months ago is already getting low.

The brother ink is not as easy to find, it is expensive, and doesn't last as long as my HP ink did. I will be buying a HP printer in the fall for sure!

Posted .Hi, Your Brother machine will perform maintenance purges of the print head at regular intervals. The cleaning is to ensure consistent print quality and prevent damage to the print head. These purges remove any air or debris that may have gotten into the print head manifold. Your machine will use the minimum amount of ink necessary to perform this operation.
If the time setting on the machine isn't correct, the cleaning will be performed at an unexpected time. Please make sure the time is set correctly on your machine. Here is a FAQ with additional information.

But the cartridges never comes close to printing 200 pages. I was desperate when I bought the printer. I had to get one for my neice to print out her weekly school packets. I have spent so much money on ink it's a dirty shame . I wish that I could afford a different printer but with this pandemic going on I cant start over with a new one. It is what it is!

The number of pages that can be printed with a cartridge is affected by several factors, including paper size, number of pages per print job, amount of print on each page, font size, and print content (graphics, charts, etc.). Print jobs with large text fonts, graphics, charts, and/or large amount of solid coverage (black or any given color) will use much more ink and will shorten the life of the ink cartridge. To fix the dull color issue, go to our website, click Contact, and then click Support Center. Enter your model number to display information and FAQs for your product. When I opened and tried to install found out too small. Tried returning it and mgr said they no longer carried the cartridge for my printer and that I should try buying a new printer because they were inexpensive Try telling that to a senior on a fixed income. Nothing wrong with the printer I have
