The printer wasn't very expensive but the ink replacement will end up costing you a lot more.

I use more ink doing updates/cleaning than printing. New ink is as much as a new printer. I think gold is cheaper than printer ink.

Posted .Hi, Your Brother machine will perform maintenance purges of the print head at regular intervals. The cleaning is to ensure consistent print quality and prevent damage to the print head. These purges remove any air or debris that may have gotten into the print head manifold. Your machine will use the minimum amount of ink necessary to perform this operation. If the time setting on the machine isn't correct, the cleaning will be performed at an unexpected time. Please make sure the time is set correctly on your machine. The only reason I have given it a fair rating is because the black works fine. The color only works faintly and the blue not at all. The only way I can print anything at all is to make sure it is on black and white. And then sometimes the part that is color comes out yellow. I really regret buying this printer. I have only had the printer 17 months so I can’t buy another right now. I will never buy another multi-purpose printer until they have improved.

I am not for sure if it's the new printer or the cartridge. However, prior cartridges did not empty nearly as fast. I know I will look at buying other brands in the future.

I bougth this ink because is Best Buy but my printer shoe me a message " please buy originals"; in conclusion, I can't use it. The ink is full but the printer display a message "your ink is empty". If you don't buy in the Brother website the printer doesn't work. My money in the trash.
