Printer price was a very good printer and low in cost. The printer cartridges are much cheaper than the current printer that I had to replace. Great product!

better built than most other options for an All in one. I don't print a lot of stuff or I would opt for a laser printer, but this is the best in the All-in-one category.

Set up was confusing it requires you use the app from brother. it prints pretty slow, but it is the cheapest printer I could find from brother I got it because my HP printer requires the subscription for ink cartridges so far I do not know if this one requires a subscription subscription is available it appears

    Black Ink hard to get

Unable to buy black ink cartridges, even from company, separately. Must subscribe to their "auto" resupply. Whether this is intentional or not, not sure. I would suggest, unless you want to subscribe to an ink replacement program, to ensure that you can buy any of the ink cartridges separately from the store you are buying the printer from.

I just needed a decent printer for at home. It works but prints a little slow. The ink that was included didn't seem to last very long.

After looking at other printers in this price range and reading and watching a few reviews, I decided to purchase this, so far I am extremely happy with it, it feels so much better built than the others I was looking at,

Color printing is slow. Little tiny screen is hard to read. Wi-fi could not be set up. Needed to use USB. Otherwise, it functions well and looks great for this price.

Works well. The wireless connection to computer and cell phone was a little difficult to set up but once I was able to do so, it has been fine. Fax prints very clearly.

This printer is not as user friendly as the previous Brother printer we owned. It is more difficult to make changes as the only place you can get help is to get the user manual on line.

Good but inkjet is a thing of the past. Too costly. Today it’s best to get eco tank printers (Epson) or INKvestment tank (Brother) to get lots of ink at an affordable price.

How can this printer get positive reviews?

If I wanted to design a printer for the express purpose of irritating myself, not working properly, not being easy to set up, and being a total waste of time and money, I would simply buy the Brother MFC-J1010DW. I have never purchased a more frustratingly poorly designed hunk of plastic than this printer. Nothing worked. In fact, I couldn't return it fast enough and it was only because I had to return it for a refund that I didn't set it out on my lawn and smash it with a sledge hammer. DO. NOT. BUY. THIS. PRINTER.

Very Poor Wireless Reception + Functionality

In order to use this printer wirelessly it needs to be within 2 feet of the router, so this is not in the same room as my computer. It has proprietary software that has to be used to scan, even though there is a scan button on the All-in-One. To scan a multiple page two sided document you place paper on scanner, go to computer click scan, go back to All-in-One and flip the paper over, go back to computer click scan, go back to scanner for the next page more of the same..... This will not work wirelessly without the proprietary software. I actually called Brother to confirm the processes, and questioned the claim that you could scan from All-in-One or computer, that is only if the computer is attached to All-in-One with a USB cable. I think there might be an app you can use from your phone, also not advertised. I expect better than this from Brother.

Super easy to use, connect to wirelessly, and insert ink. The print quality is ok-ish but I'm using off-brand ink so idk if that causes an issue. It never did with my old printer.

Brother recommends that customers don't use generic ink cartridges or refill their Brother ink cartridges. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality, and machine reliability since the ink formulation in genuine Brother ink cartridges prevents smearing and clogging of the print head. The Brother limited warranty doesn't apply to any problem caused by the use of unauthorized third party ink and/or cartridges.

The Brother MFCJ1010DW is designed to work with ink of a particular specification and will work to a level of optimum performance when used with genuine Brother branded ink cartridges. Brother can't guarantee this optimum performance if the ink or ink cartridges of other specifications are used. Brother doesn't, therefore, recommended the use of cartridges other than genuine Brother branded cartridges with this machine or the refilling of empty cartridges.

If damage is caused to the print head or other parts of the machine as a result of using incompatible products with the machine, any repairs required as a result may not be covered by warranty. Brother
