How can this printer get positive reviews?

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If I wanted to design a printer for the express purpose of irritating myself, not working properly, not being easy to set up, and being a total waste of time and money, I would simply buy the Brother MFC-J1010DW. I have never purchased a more frustratingly poorly designed hunk of plastic than this printer. Nothing worked. In fact, I couldn't return it fast enough and it was only because I had to return it for a refund that I didn't set it out on my lawn and smash it with a sledge hammer. DO. NOT. BUY. THIS. PRINTER.

Please be advised, it would be best to do a deep cleaning of the print heads call a Initial Purge.

Boy, was I wrong@ I bought this in January, and it bricked on me after almost 6 months to the day - quite the coincidence. When I checked for a solution online, I found that this was not only a common problem, but Brother now follows HP's example and purposely bricks their own products as they see fit, forcing consumer to continually buy poorly-built printers and/or send in products for expensive repairs. Long story short: Get something that is not built to die... and this is most definitely not it.

This was a replacement for me because HP seemed to try to take over my printer so I went with a printer that allows my privacy and manuel full control.

Not Worthy Please Don't Waste Your Money....

We should buy Brother Printer Cateridges only then only it will be workedout, I have tested in my home, after refilling ink and I inserted into Printer Cateridges place it is saying like " Not Enough Ink and we recommend only that Quality Ink Cateridges from brother manufacturing", Its really waste of money guysss. Please go for Epson Company Printers would better than this brother company. Even it has paper scanning issues, its not getting scan full paper which is Letter Size & A4 Size paper, paper edges are not getting scanning. Please dont buy this Printer and don't waste your money.

Continuously could not be located on my network by multiple computers, phones & tablets. Every time I wanted to print I had to reset the router / internet, restart my computer, uninstall the printer driver and reinstall. I purchased a new computer, same problem. I upgraded to a mesh router system + tripled my network speed, same problem. Very disappointing. I had similar problems with my previous Brother printer, but assumed it was the age of the printer, clearly it's the brand.
