Waste of money. Stick to HP

Don’t waste your money. Buy an HP. I bought this when my HP took a crap after I had it for about 10 years. The only reason why I bought this brand was because it was cheaper than the HPs at the time. And I needed something quick for school. I’ve never spent so much on ink. I had bought a brand new pack of all colors and printed something for a project for school. Just having to use the program on the printer to clean the nozzles, I went from 200 pages to 160. I didn’t even print anything. I wouldn’t even use the clean if it was necessary but all my pages were only printing yellow and no other colors were printing on the page. Then after cleaning it repeatedly and printing a couple of yellow pictures my yellow cartridge needed to be replaced within 30 minutes. And the others were low almost needing to be replaced as well. Ridiculous never had any issues with my HP. If I could give this a 0 star I would.

Very difficult set up. Print quality good. Double sided printing and paper tray are great qualities. Does not stay connected for wireless or mobile printing. Need to reconnect every time. Discontinued use. Not worth the headaches.

I recently purchased the **Brother MFC-J1010DW** and I'm really happy with it! The setup was straightforward, and it's incredibly easy to use. The print quality is impressive, especially for the price. It handles both black-and-white and color printing well, and the wireless connectivity is a huge plus. The printer is also compact and doesn't take up much space. Overall, it's a fantastic printer for my home office needs

Full color duplex printing saves paper. Bright and clear print quality. This is a multi-function workhorse. Yet the Brother MFC takes up very little desk space. The bottom tray holds 150 sheets of paper so no need to worry about running out of paper when you go to print. Separate ink cartridges for Y M C and Black ink. Smear-proof prints ink stays on the page. If you still can get it the unit can send and receive FAX documents. The 20 page scanner does a great job archiving documents. Or use the scanner glass for photos or delicate documents. All this wirelessly. There is a printer connection port located inside the center of the scanner which I found supports both printing and scanning. You must supply the cable, which I already have plenty of. I was happily surprised how fast I was able to add the printer to my home network. And the printer was then visible to all my devices; iPads, android Motorola Stylus phone, laptops and work PC. With the right app the printer is even usable while away from home. Just send the pages to the printer and they are waiting for me when I arrive home. Its also easy to keep tabs on the remaining ink levels. Quiet and quick in a small space.

Good budget AIO; lightning-fast B&W, just OK color

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

BOTTOM LINE This Brother wireless AIO inkjet is a good, full-featured budget model for light-duty home/school/very small office printing needs that doesn't need to occupy acres of shelf-space. The flip-up front panel is very convenient with actual buttons to press as opposed to fiddly touchscreen controls; and the color LCD display, while tiny, provides a good deal of useful information and step-by-step instructions when needed. There's a handy auto-document feeder up top and built-in duplex printing capability. Black and white text reproduction is very good with crisp, well-defined edges produced at stunningly fast print speeds. Color and photo printing is quite a bit slower and while image quality is decent with smoothly rendered images without typical inkjet blockiness, stippling, or color bands, colors themselves tended to come off a tad washed-out and under-saturated. FEATURES AND SETUP On paper, the MFC-J1010DW has a lot to offer. Along with wireless connectivity (though 2.4Ghz only!), the printer includes an Ethernet jack for network printing and a USB port for a single-PC connection. If you need fax capabilities, this one offers a 40-number phonebook with 6 different calling groups and broadcast capabilities of up to 90 numbers at a time using the phonebook and up to 50 manually entered phone numbers. We don't have a small business so I can't imagine why you'd need to send the same fax to so many people at once, but that capability is there if you need it. The single-sided auto-document feeder holds up to 20 sheets of paper while the main paper tray fits up to 150 sheets. Sadly, there is no option to load photo paper into a separate feeder or designated section of the paper tray--if you want to switch paper types, you have to completely empty the paper tray, load the new paper, and then adjust the paper settings in the printer's menu. However, in a small but much-appreciated bit of usability design, Brother included a very large and easy-to-understand color image in the bottom of the paper tray that demonstrates exactly how to load and orient pre-printed pages or letterhead into the tray so you never have to wonder if you need to load new pages face-up or face-down with the headers at the top or bottom of the tray to get properly oriented printer output. There is also a very small paper catcher that unfolds out the front of the paper tray, and a small flip-up paper stop at the back end of the auto-document feeder; but in general, the printer remains very compact and streamlined without the need for a protracted bit of pre-printing assembly of paper feeders, extra trays, or other do-dads that unfold or clip into place requiring several additional inches of clearance out the front, back, or sides. Unlike some other compact AIOs we've used, this one features some extra slack in the hinges of the scanner bed cover so you scan or copy thicker items like pages from an open book. Hardware (optical) scanning resolution is very respectable with 1200 × 2400 dpi from the ADF and 1200 × 600 dpi on the flatbed scanner glass. Printing output via Windows caps at 1200 x 6000 dpi at the highest quality print settings--these are some respectable numbers for a budget inkjet. You also get separate physical buttons on the front panel for color or B&W copies with the capability to make reductions down to 25% and enlargements up to 400%. Setup took about 8 minutes from opening the carton to getting the unit online--the small color display features handy photo guides to walk the user through each phase of the setup. Menu navigation can be a bit frustrating at times as some items are deeply buried under some non-intuitive menu categories and headers. Keyboard entry using the tiny on-screen keypad and physical arrow buttons is also a tad clunky as cursor movement does not naturally skip empty spots on the screen, you have to arrow up/down and back around a lot of empty spots on the screen to reach some of the keys you want to select. The MFC-J1010DW supports AirPrint so you don't have to use Brother mobile app for printing from a phone or tablet if you don't want to (I chose not to). For the PC, you have the option to download just the printer and scanner drivers, or you can add in some additional utilities like the Brother iPrint&Scan application, wireless setup troubleshooting helpers, and some pro-level print and driver management tools for those of you who need to administer the printer on a larger network. I did download Brother's recommended full driver and software package just to see what the iPrint&Scan app was like. Honestly, iPrint&Scan is a very simple and easy-to-use scanning and file printing interface that would probably be useful for those who are not quite so tech-savvy--the interface is clean, intuitive, and there are relatively few options to be concerned about other than finding the file you want to print or specifying scanning resolution and where you want to save the file when you're done. IN USE The printer supports "quiet mode" which supposedly reduces sound output in favor of slower printing speeds; however, I found the printer very quiet during operation and left this feature off. Using plain paper, a full page of B&W text took less than 3 seconds to print (!!!); a mixed media document with a few color elements and text took 15 seconds for a single page. Photo printing was another matter entirely--a best-quality print job on 4 x 6 glossy photo paper took about 51 seconds to complete once printing actually started (with a few additional seconds of delay tacked on for the file to transfer wirelessly to the print buffer); a borderless 8.5 x 11 color photo took nearly 2.5 minutes to finish. I don't print a lot of photos on our inkjets so the somewhat lethargic photo printing speed wasn't too big of a concern, but I did feel that photo output in general lacked some of the pop and deep, rich colors I was hoping to see, especially when rendered on high-quality photo papers. Sadly, Brother offers no sample papers of its own in the box so you cannot audition any Brother-branded products to see if the results would be appreciably better than with other manufacturers (we used Canon and HP photo papers, FWIW). For an occasional color print job or for "disposable" photos that go on the fridge or head to school with your kids, you probably won't notice or care much about the lack of stunningly brilliant colors; just don't expect to be making archival quality or frame-worthy photos when the mood strikes you, either--this IS a budget inkjet after all.

Affordable Compact Reliable Inkjet Wireless Printe

Brother MFC-J1010DW color all-in-one printer is designed for use in home or small office setup that need print, copy, scan and fax in both monochrome and color. This printer in a super compact form factor doesn’t take much desk space and has multiple connection options including a built-in wireless interface, Wi-Fi Direct or connecting through USB cable directly from computer/laptop. Its small but powerful, measures around 15.7 x 13.5 x 6.8in and weighs just 16.4 lbs. Printer is faster for ink jet and prints up to 17 ppm for black and 9.5ppm for color with the two-sided printing and very suited for high volume printing. What’s in the box: Printer, Ink cartridges (Black, Cyan, Yellow, Magenta), Quick setup guide, Telephone cord, warranty card. Setup is simple and seamless with the brother mobile connect app that guides each step by step to get connected wirelessly. Download the app from the Appstore or play store and follow the instructions for setup. You will need a mobile or tablet or computer for setup and recommended to setup using WIFI. On the front there is a small 1.8” LCD for display and has support to apple air print to print from apple devices. Works well with both windows and mac OS and doesn’t need any separate drivers to get started. Since this printer is connected to internet you can print it from anywhere. It can hold 150 sheets of paper in the paper tray and supports 20-page capacity automatic document feeder for scanning or copying multiple documents at once. It has got a page gauge feature in the mobile app and sends notification if the ink level is low or the amount of ink that’s remaining and which cartridge needs replacement. Print quality is good on black and white with sharp texts and graphics. Color print quality is okay for the price point and lacked saturation seeming dull for photo printing. It does have generic ink options for cheaper printing cost compared to others leading brands. Power cord is not removable on this printer. Pros: Affordable low price for all-in-one (including fax), compact footprint, monitors ink usage with its page gauge feature in app, multiple connectivity options, auto two-sided printing, airprint for apple devices, scan to mobile app, borderless printing. Cons: Dull saturated photo print quality in color Bottom-line: Good affordable low cost home or small office all-in-one Wi-Fi printer with duplex printing and ADF.

Setup Process was simple. The setup took 10 minutes from opening the box and configuring it. Windows 11 and Mac OS found and installed the drivers quickly. Setting up the app on mobile devices was easy enough as well as it found the printer via the Wi-Fi connection (for context I have an Amplifi Alien Wi-Fi 6 Router) The Brother app on PC is a little clunky (like most standard printing applications) so I just use the built in Windows controller. Scanning works as well. Cons – Doesn’t hold as much paper as one would need. Printing in color is a slow process, especially when printing multiple pages. Windows app is clunky and slow even when installed on a machine that has 2 M.2 SSD’s in RAID 0 config. Pros – Easy to use. Windows detected the drivers prior to me installing the software. Using Windows built in controls, printing is easy and painless. B/W/Monochrome printing is smooth, there’s no blotching on the paper or bleeding when printing in color. The mobile app works wonders especially when scanning so you can save the documents directly to your mobile device. Mobile printing is fast and easy as well and scales nicely when transmitted from mobile device to the printer. Overall – Great product, clunky app. Would recommend this over any HP printer, just need to buy the add-on to hold extra paper. But overall, a great addition to any home office. I think Brother should have included a larger supply of paper and spent more time developing a modern app for administering Print/Scan functions in Windows. I assume that at least in my case this is still the most used device printing in the average home. I did find my wife became frustrated waiting for the pages to come out when catching up on work at night compared to our other printer in the house. In the end she cancelled the job and printed the next day at work. Naturally that defeats the purpose of a home printer/scanner.

Add A Brother To Your Tech Family

I always appreciate a good wireless printer. And Brother has always given us really good quality printers. This is my third one so far and I love them more and more every time. This one come with everything needed for my heavy printing workload. It comes with a phone cord, but isn't nessecarily needed, as this is fully wifi capable machine. You can print from your Windows PC or Mac Airprint devices. Also my favorite is printing from my Androis device on the fly. It holds up to 150 sheets in the try and can copy up to 20 pages in the feeder , so it's super convenient to copy tax papers or multiple documents from the office or class. You'll get four ink cartridges ( red, yellow, blue and black) and it's surprisingly fast for an ink jet. 15 to 20 pages a minute, to be more specific. With a full color display, it's very easy to read and operate. I do advise writing down your password, because it will need to be updated, as most Brother printers do. And that can grow to be really annoying if you can't remember that stinking password. It's really easy to set up and can be used from around the room , as long as it's on. I've got it connected to at least 5 devices at the moment. I do recommend this printer for small businesses & students alike. You can't go wrong with a Brother.

This Brother 1010 is great. I was lucky to use last year's model. This version pretty much the same version but different in color. Setup was a snap. It took about 40 mins. Follow the instructions. Insert ink. Print out nozzle alignment and scan and you are good. Then go through the other electronic connection and brother connection etc and you are all set. So what I did to make life easier for me and my family was that I set up a separate email address for all of our scans to go and we can then all log on to Google drive and pull the scans from one location. This worked really well for the Pandemic operations. The keypad is better than other competitive that make you toggle through up and down arrows and enter keys to enter the data. Better than those other ones. Multi paper scanning is always a plus. Printing is nice and fast. Remote printing option is great. Mobile software was easy to use. I did not use the fax option. I have not used fax in a few years so that might be an obsolete option. Also computer plug in print was easy. I was using windows 11. Nothing but positive experience for me and my family. The only con is the ink amount and potential cost for ink replacement. Something to consider for heavy printing. This is the same as the model 1 above this model. Regardless, I would recommend this product. Super convenient options. My entire family was able to use this with ease.

I would have to say this all-in-one printer is an essential item for those that work at home and/or own a business. The wireless connection option or simple USB connection to your computer or devices is a gamechanger. Scanning documents wirelessly really helps with productivity and is efficient with this printer. I found the cartridges to be easy to install and the printing turned out quite vividly. Page Gauge is also helpful with informing you of the status of your printer ink, which is helpful. The paper tray capacity is generous and you will never need to constantly refill. The printing is intuitive and easy to do from anywhere. I loved the color display on the printer that is helpful for navigating the various processes and features that the printer has. The abilities to scan, copy and fax is an added bonus and might be especially help for business owners that might need to put a machine like this far from their work desk. All in all, with this printer being very affordable and quite functional - it is an essential work from home and business essential that should bring about greater productivity for anyone that uses it.

I've never thought needed to spend much on a printer because I never use one much and was too concerned for print quality. So I usually bought the best bargain I could find. The last two I purchased were HP printers but they didn’t last long and really were troublesome to operate. The last one had to be replaced just because a tiny plastic tab that held the ink cartridge in broke off and would cost more to fix than to replace. So just on principle I spend an extra $20 on the brother then the cheaper HP. I so glad I did, the print quality is much better, quiter, more features, nicer to use and smaller to boot

Firstly, I must commend Brother on the sleek design of this printer. Its compact size fits perfectly in my home office without taking up too much space, which is a huge plus. Setting up the printer was a breeze, thanks to the clear and intuitive instructions provided. Within minutes, I connected it to my Wi-Fi network, ready to print. In terms of performance, I have been thoroughly impressed. The print quality is excellent, producing crisp and vibrant documents with every print. The ability to print wirelessly from my laptop, smartphone, and tablet has added a new level of convenience to my workflow. One feature that stands out is the automatic duplex printing, which helps save paper and reduce waste. Additionally, the large paper capacity means I don't have to refill the paper tray, which is a time-saver constantly. The Brother MFC-J1010DW also offers scanning and copying functionalities, which work seamlessly. The automatic document feeder makes scanning and copying multiple pages a breeze, further enhancing its usability. Overall, I am delighted with my purchase of the Brother MFC-J1010DW Wireless Inkjet Printer. It combines excellent performance, ease of use, and a compact design, making it the perfect addition to any home office or small business.

The Brother MFC J1010dw is perfect for our home. After unpacking the printer I realized it comes with everything you need expect paper and a usb cord. Since I’ve had printers before that was not an issue. I have plenty. The quic setup guide made for an easy 12 step start to printing. The black color is good for any office. The size it pretty typical for most printers and we don’t have a big space to work with so this worked good. I like that there is a printer, copier and scanner. I don’t use the fax so I didn’t set up the phone cord. But it’s there if I need it. The ink is really easy to install. Take it out the packaging and slide and click in place. Load paper which I used around 20 to 30 sheets at a time, that’s just how I do things. And there was plenty of space for more. Make sure to remove all the plastic tape. Set the date and time which is a very cool feature for a printer. Check the print quality, I didn’t need to adjust so I cleared the LCD, set language, select the correct receive mode and set your station ID. Last part is the connecting the mobile devices. Overall I really like this printer.

I've had other brands and the quality of Brother printers compared to other brands is superior. Some of the things I like, are the speed of printing and the multifunctional capabilities of the printer. I like that, it's wireless and can be hardwired at the same time. I can fax, scan and make copies on the printer. Not to mention the app works great on my Android phone. And even if I don't install the app, my phone has great default printer propertie, which work well with brother printers. But I don't like that this printer is color. If it only came in black that would allow people to purchase less ink instead of having to purchase all colors, just to print in black only. I had my previous one for about 8 years.

I purchased this printer as a secondary in our home about a month ago. My wife wanted something she could print to from her phone without having to boot up our main computer downstairs in our home office. Unfortunately, she isn’t able to do stairs well due to a medical condition, so purchasing this and placing it in our guest bedroom was perfect. Setup was pretty easy and straight forward. I was able to download the app and link both our phones in under 10 mins. Copying and printing black and white is quick and clear. Doing the same in color takes a bit, but that’s to be expected at this price point. We haven’t owned it long enough to review the longevity of both black and white or color ink. Overall, very happy with the purchase. Brother seems to be a very reliable company and produces quality products. We’ve owned our main printer, also a Brother, for over 4 yrs without any issues. When my wife said she wanted a Bluetooth compatible printer, Brother at Best Buy is where I looked. I paid $99 and had some rewards $$ to use, so our purchase didn’t hit the pocketbook too hard. I highly recommend this printer as a second printer for the home or office. It might be lacking a bit to handle heavy output, but I don’t believe it was meant for that. Hope this review helps you make a decision one way or another. All the best.

The Brother - MFC-J1010DW has decent print quality & can fax, quickly print, scan, and copy. At this price point it is nice to see that it can manage 20-sheet ADF for faster bulk scanning & has two-sided copying, again not normally seen as an option on budget printers. Negatives: If you want to easily update the firmware via Brothers Mobile Connect you must create an account. As an alternative, you can manually update the firmware from printer using the password provided on the back of machine. Setup is simple with paper instructions & following prompts on LCD screen. Print quality wise black text and mono photocopies are fine with photos good enough for occasional use, but in this demographic folks cares more about color prints and copies on plain paper. With useful features and reliable performance, not a bad choice for home office, especially if you need fax. You are getting a lot of bang for buck here with Brother, a company that has a reliable reputation in the corporate business world.
