One of the best printers I've ever owned
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer is perfect for me. My previous printer attempted to force me to use THEIR ink replacement cartridges, so, that was always a battle. This printer's setup was pretty easy and the printer itself has all the options I need, plus it has a much smaller footprint. I appreciate that the paper output tray does not use a large amount of my desk space. The flatbed and paper cartridge feed input for the scanner works exactly as it should. It's somewhat quiet and prints fast enough for me, as a home user. The software is more comprehensive than other brands. It allows you to change, on the fly, the type of file you want for your output (image, PDF, etc.) and also allows you to set which software is the default to open your file. My previous printer (hotel papa) constantly tried to disallow the usage of default Windows settings and force you to use their rudimentary software. The only con for me is that it does not have a touchscreen. Not a big deal but, when you are setting it up for the first time, it takes a few minutes to figure out which button to push and where it is. The print quality itself has very sharp colors and dries quickly (no smearing on regular paper). The direct print from email option is pretty cool. Hint: be sure to safeguard your (customizable) email-to-print address as, someone might accidentally send their regular email to your printer (using up paper and ink). I have never been able to figure out how to fax from home but, this printer's fax option looks pretty straightforward. All in all, this is a great home-use printer. And, because of the price of ink (compared to others) makes the purchase of this Brother MFC-J1010DW a no-brainer.

Great but simple printer
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided my HP Tango printer, which does not do duplex printing and suddenly fell off my network for no reason, was no longer worth tolerating. I saw the glowing reviews for this Brother printer and decided to try it. Really glad I did. Two-sided printing, color display, simple to set up and use via Brother's apps on my Chromebook, iPad and iPhone. Excellent print quality and paper capcity, quiet, quick. The HP Tango pales in comparison.

Brother MFC-J1010DW - a wonderful inkjet printer!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Brother MFC turned out to be a great replacement for our old MFP that died recently. It was simple to install and connect to our devices and Wifi. It was priced just right with sturdy case and a very sturdy cord (a problem with our old printer). It produces very crisp output. The controls on the front are all on the panel rather than soft keys on the screen. The screen is small but is only used to display status. Paper loading and handling is great. Software updates on devices are notified but updated status not sufficiently acknowledged after downloading and installing. A small thing to correct Brother in a future update.

Great Purchase!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent printer for the money! I don't print photos or a lot of graphics, primarily just office text, email etc... This is the second one I have bought, for my SIL. My first one is still running 2 years later...

Easy to setup and good performance!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great printer. I must say was surprised by the weight of the box, it's a tad heavy, and shows as the printer is sturdy and feels very well built. Setup was easy and they include a starting set of ink (black and all colors), a telephone cord (for the fax function), a manual and power cable. The set of inks are the basic ones, but they mention they also sell them in "high capacity" tanks. A USB cable was not included, so you either provide your own or set up the printer as wireless (which you should). I love that the ink tanks are inserted on the front, the printer has its own little flap/door to insert them. Most other printers you have to lift up the scanner bed to access the ink tanks, not this one, its a separate door on the front, very convenient!! Once I inserted the inks, the manual suggests you print a test page and you should also print the head alignment. I did perform this just in case (it prints a head alignment page and then you scan it with the flatbed scanner and the printer will tweak the printer heads). Setting up the wireless connection was easy, I downloaded Brother's software from their website and following and setting it up was easy. Print quality was good and fast enough for me. I love that the printer can print pages on both sides automatically without any intervention (I love this feature, helps save so much on paper and trees of course!). You can scan from the flatbed or the paper feeder. The LCD screen was big enough and clear to see. I have not tried the FAX function yet, but I'm pretty sure its just your standard FAX. I also love the page gauge feature, it will tell you how much ink you've used and how much you have worth in pages. I will be buying their high capacity tanks once the included tanks ran out (you can also subscribe to their auto ink refill service, that's optional). Highly recommend this printer for home or a small office/home office, you will be saving money!!

Great Printer with good quality
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm giving it 4 stars only because of the ink subscription issues and had to reset it twice on my network because it stopped communicating with the network to print. I was skeptical to buy a printer manufactured by Brother, Inc. because they are relatively new to the printer era but I had great experiences with Brother prior on other products so I figured I'd give it a try. I'm pretty much completely satisfied with it. Its a Great printer, good quality for a home/office option. It does go thru ink pretty quickly, the black anyway and I don't really care for the fact that when you order ink from Brother through the subscription or website, you are required to replace all of them instead of just the color that is out. The ink subscription prices are a bit pricy. 200 pages for $10 is a bit steep in my opinion. You also have to watch your account close because they do offer rollover pages which is great, but they aren't real quick to give them to you when you don't use your pages the previous month. I also don't like the fact that you only have 200 pages for rollover limits. But that's an issue with the subscription, not the printer itself. All in all, its a great quality printer with speed and functionality. Prints great quality photos as well!

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wonderful printer that fit the budget. Prints quality, not business quality when making copies but I’m pretty pleased for a printer at home. Simple, easy to use, pretty quick setup. What more do you want for the price?

So far very happy.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Brothers MFC-J1010DW printer about two weeks ago and so far very satisfied. I had a little trouble with the set up , some of it was my problem and some was a little confusing. After the initial set up, things were quite easy to use and the print quality is very good. The best thing is their refresh program for the ink. I signed up right away, even though I don’t do a lot of printing. In the past, I would generally replace my ink cartridges on my old canon about every eight or nine months. With the refresh subscription, I don’t have to worry about printing in color or not because they have already sent me a new set of cartridges, even though I barely started to use it. I am on their occasional use plan for only $1.99 a month. You can change anytime if you think you need more than the 25 copies that it allows. at my current usage level that will cost me about $20 to change to new cartridges. Couldn’t be happier.
