Very good for light use
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very compact compared to other's in its price (i.e. Epson, Canon, HP, etc) and while it's all plastic everything is designed for a tight tolerance. One big warning - if you plan to hook it up to a desktop or laptop via USB the connection is INSIDE the printer and you need a thin printer cable (not included) to close the printer after you put the cable inside a little cable guide which then sticks out the side. It's good that it has 4 individual cartridges (although it doesn't look like they hold a lot of ink) so you can replace them one at a time (Black, Magenta, Cyan, Yellow). They also bug you about their "Subscription Ink" service - they usually are not in your favor no matter how much their marketing says it is. Buy the Cartridges when you need them (you can have spares on hand when they run out) and you get good deals on Black XL and packaged with a set of color cartridges. Also, downloading all the software and installing it on a PC took around 20-30 minutes.

Good budget printer
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My HP 6970 inkjet printer of 6 years broke and after doing some research it seems like that’s about the life expectancy of a lower end inkjet printer. Knowing that I’ll need to replace them about every 5-7 years, I wanted to find a cheaper one. I’m about a year into using this Brother printer and it’s done everything I need it to for about half the price of similar HPs. It is a good budget printer.

Updated printer
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was a little challenging to set up. The directions were kind of unclear. But I did get it set up & it works great. The wireless works with my tablets & phone. So nice to be able to scan multiple pages instead of 1 @ a time. I’m 0leased with my purchase

Simple to use
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very quick printer, WiFi connection is easy once setup is complete, always connects without any problems whatsoever. Quality of print is fine for any standard business needs, would recommend, had a lot of issues with other brands in the past with the connectivity that I didn’t face with this one.

Great but not outstanding
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: way better than my HP; doesn’t get trapped in proprietary dead ends like HP does; Lots of features; great value; Set up on first laptop was easy and seamless; great size; high quality document printouts; desktop icon very user friendly; nice paper capacity; doc feeder works very good at this price point Con: when in standby mode, no indicator LED to know to shut down for extended away; display is a bit small, clumsy and way too crowded; seems like non needed button presses required to accomplish some things; set up on second laptop went sideways and needed Gk Sq help to unravel; online instructions for some 2 sided features needs to be clearer;

Better than most at this price range! Paper tray!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wasn't sure about brother printers. Asked Geek Squad their thoughts, and got no issues. Set up was very straight forward following directions in the box. Everything went well. Printer is a little noisier than my Canon, but is 4 times faster, at least! Print quality is spot on.. Super sharp. I like that it has a paper tray under the printer, where cheaper models had no tray. The duplex printing was spot on! The Scanner is awesome! Makes clean scans and saves them like I like. You can get XL cartridges for not much more on various sites, might save some money. Brother support is very good to have if you need it! All in all, I am not sorry I bought this printer!

Great printer, once set up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initial setup was a breeze, but it lost a star from me because I've never had such a difficult time setting up wifi for a printer. First, the printer didn't show up. I had to reset my wifi a couple of times. Finally the printer showed up but I was then given errors and had to restart the process a couple times... It eventually connected despite the errors. Then after that I had to go back and forth from the printer, once to press the wifi button, and once again to grab the password from the back of the printer. Other printers I've used have been easily detectable, click and connect. After about an hour of labor, it is finally connected and I am very happy with the ease of use, speed and quality. If you're debating getting this one vs canon or epson, get this one. Canon and epsons have been nothing but trouble for me.

Meh, It's okay, but terrible for scanning photos.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit is functional, prints fine and is fairly quiet. Did not set up or plan to use the Fax function. The wireless works well even with using the usb connection with my desktop. The down side, Brother customer support is not very good. Be aware the scan function cannot scan and separate photos. Unlike other scanners that allow one to scan multiple photos at a time and save as individual jpegs, this one will not. After several emails, a failure of their tech support to call at a scheduled two hour window and later after a 40 minute wait and then a 45 minute on phone conversation with their tech support, I was told "Oh, it can only scan one photo at a time." This after clearly stating I wanted to scan multiple photos and save individually. And on top of that if you scan say a 4x6 photo, it saves the whole scanned bed, so you would then have to crop away all the white on whatever software one might have on your pc or laptop to get your picture saved correctly. So if you just need a printer and maybe to scan documents, it's usable, but if you are planning on using it to scan your photos, find a different scanner.

Great...except for ADF faxing larger documents
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought to replace a very similar 10 year old Brother All in One. Setup was easy, printing was fine, but trying to fax two 20 page documents using the ADF took 26 tries... Jammed paper, skipped pages, over and over despite following all the instructions and suggestions. I never had any problem with the other Brother so I was unprepared--and realllllly frustrated. I'm hoping it was a matter of paper thickness and if I use a higher quality paper that's also not so slick next time it might not be an issue. I'm happy with the printer for daily use and since I don't have to send such large documents very often, it meets my needs. I do miss the older version of the top that closed over the ADF feeder though, to make a solid surface that kept dust and cat hair out. I'm using a storage box lid to cover it when not in use; just the right size if anyone else might have the same issue...

Very pleased with printer
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been delighted with this printer/scanner/copier. It performs all of its functions efficiently and the print is always clear. I had never owned a Brother product before, but when it needs replacing I will look for a Brother again. I haven't used the fax, so I cannot witness to that part.
