Well, I'll start with software, i have an older model 490CW on my network and after more than 5 years, it's still going strong, needed 2nd printer for kids. I spent waaaay too much time trying to setup as the same brother software is not compatible on my mac or pc. Finally, after 30 minutes, was able to setup connection to router. I then printed three color pages and wham, out of ink. I asked the best buy employee if that was normal and she stated that the ink that it comes with is a watered down version. Same size as refular purchased ink, but filled no more that to 10% capacity. Brother quality has gone down, big time. And pay no mind to pages per minute. A color page takes over a minute to print! Cheap!

Very easy to set up and is great for small buisness

Can fax 25 pages with ease. Print quality is good.

This is my second backup printer. I also wanted to be able to print in color. The printer functions well for the price point. However, the black ink seems to be down to 50% already and I didn't print much. Perhaps the ink is drying up already.

Purchased for my wife when old printer died. No problems with this product and Best Buy helped make our decision. Not quite as fast as old printer but very clear print. Easy to set up.and its wireless and can use it from any computer in the house.

Works better for me than the previous model. Don't have as much of a problem with the ink drying out. I bought it on sale, so it really made for a good buy. Yes, it takes cartridges. but if you don't print every day, this can work for you.

Bought this printer as a replacement for another. This is my second Brother; bought first one 5 years ago when my daughter went away to college. She has had no problems with hers, so bought another Brother when I needed a new printer.

I had an Epson printer which would have blocked nozzles every few months and cleaning would use up a lot of ink. Replaced it this printer and I am very happy with the purchase. First time wifi set up was not easy so 4 star.

Great printer, the only issue I have with this is the ink runs out fast and if one cartridge is low on ink you can’t use the printer at all. I have to replace the ink frequently.

Bought this for my father in law to replace an old Dell printer. I decided on this printer after comparing to Epson and Canon (I have both and they are still working) based on features and price. The footprint of this unit is very compact. With the fax capability, it is well suited for home office.

This printer is good but wifi instructions were kind of confusing but in the end it's decent. Printing from iPhone sucks bc you need the app and it doesn't even work.

I've liked Brother printers for a while now. Quality and price of ink are my two criteria. This printer also was a steal on sale. It has auto duplex printing and good quality output. I haven't tried the wifi setup yet.

Pros: The wireless AirPrint feature is super! Easy to change out cartridge. Cons: Paper tray doesn't hold much so you have to refill often. And I wish the printer had a smaller footprint for desktop space. But overall, it's been great.

Printer is fundamental. Paper tray holds minimal amount of paper and print quality is just okay. If printer is needed for work-related, business work an upgrade will be necessary.

I brought this to replace a brother all in one that was held together by tape The scanner in the feeder is a weakness. It does not do 20 sheets of normal paper. It does not do photos in the feeder They jam. and damage the photos.

I bought this same printer last year for my college student and besides not including the cord to plus directly to your computer it was perfect. Easy setup for wireless, would have been nice to include sample paper to test the coloring. Forgot to buy paper since I wasn't using it right away.

I needed another inexpensive printer and am disappointed with the performance. It is very slow. The ink seems to be less expensive than HP printer though

Specs indicates Ethernet. It doesn't have it. Has WiFi but I don't use WiFi for my network. Returned it. The printer itself worked fine but I couldn't use it on my network.

Purchased this printer to replace an HP. The old printer was good and lasted a long time but I was frustrated with replacement ink cost. I expect this printer to be more economical. As a side note love AirPrint

Printer and copier work great, countless calls to Brother and still can't get the fax to work. Difficulty understanding Brother techs. Replaced Lexmark that performed perfectly, wish I purchased another Lexmark.
