    Slow, Eats Ink, Cheaply Made

Thought it was supposed to save money on ink. Printing is slow & it uses ink faster than Brother says their cartridges will last. It won't even print black if it thinks one of the color cartridges is low! When the sensors stopped working correctly after 6 months and wouldn't recognize cartridges, even with new Brother ink installed Brother was difficult to work with. Do not recommend. Cheaply made. Never did work with my wifi either!

It does not have an Ethernet connection, I even contacted the brother website and they said it did, but it does not. I know that brother has the connections under the scanner, but there is no Ethernet connections.

Decent Job Overall BUT Ink Consumption Sucks

Overall it's a decent machine for the price. It does the job BUT there's a humongous BUT to this printer. I bought this printer on November 22, 2015. In less than 7 months, after printing only a handful of color photos (and I mean only a handful) and hardly anything else as I have another printer that I use virtually all the time, this printer has run out of Yellow ink. The printer is self-cleaning so often it drains the ink. I wouldn't be surprised that it will soon be running out of cyan and magenta inks as well. I guess they sell the printer relatively cheap but make up for it by having the printer self-clean so often that buyers are compelled to purchase ink more frequently. Overall, bad value for the money!!!

    Painfully, no...unbearably slow

I read some folks saying it was slow, but I had no idea we were talking not pages per minutes scale, but minutes per page. Seriously, a black word document should never, ever in 2016, take over 1 minute to print. How did they get away with their rating of up to 12 ppm?! In what scenario is it even remotely possible to hit that?! I can't get this thing to get 1/10th that fast. I get this is a cheap printer, but never again.

Good for the money, tho no duplex scanning

I've only had the product for several days now and just got it set up. Though I haven't tested much else, I was severely disappointed when it became apparent that this printer does NOT have duplex scanning, despite Best Buy's product description saying that it does. I specifically wanted this feature. Unfortunately, my 3 stars is more for Best Buy than anything else. Otherwise I'm happy with the printer so far.

This is a very nice light duty printer. It does do the job, but does go thru ink when using color.

    Cheap, but Flimsy and Unreliable

This printer is frequently on sale and very inexpensive. However, compared to better brands, we found it to be poorly constructed with very thin plastics. It also loses its wi-fi connection, requiring it to be powered off and on, and typically rebooting the PC.

    A Poor Choice

We sadly purchased this printer after Xmas on sale. This printer never worked correctly after the first color cartridges were wiped out and that happens real quick folks .I had to call the help line who were nice but powerless to help with this lemon. We ran thru 6 cartridges which never worked unless you ran a series of tests which wiped out the very expensive ink jets and then called the help desk for help. It was a vicious cycle and then the printer started to jam and jam and the carriages would be wiped out within days after testing and minor use. We just tossed it out because it was too much trouble and terribly expensive and very unreliable . Do not make the same mistake we did.

Best Buy Website Incorrect - No Ethernet

Disappointed to find that this printer doesn't have an Ethernet network interface. The Best Buy website incorrectly states the following: "Printer Connectivity: NFC, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB 2.0" on the specification tab.

    Horrible speed

I seriously think I can write faster than this printer can print. Even on the fast setting this thing takes over a minute to print a BW text only page. Brother should cancel this product! BUYER BEWARE!!!!

    Slow and Misleading

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had this printer for about a year now. And don't print much or often, less than 2-3 pages a month. We purchased this item because we wanted to print our Amazon returns and scan important documents to our computer. The printer is very very slow, wireless word document printing is 1 pg per 2 minutes. Also, in the description it says as separate ink cartridges make this economical so you only have to replace them as needed. But as I have found when one cartridge is less than 20% you can't print at all. Just states, low ink, tried to bypass as I only need black and white for the jobest but could not.

The print quality for documents is excellent, but the printer is slow. I mean really slow. "Is it Christmas yet?" slow.

    Some disappointments that add up

Ink cartridges do not hold much ink and are not refillable at places like Costco. The printer will not print black and white with near emtpy color cartridges. So you have to replace all cartridges to print B&W. Black cartridge never registered full. Printer lasted 2 y 3 months (that is 3 months out of warranty). Ink tube is clogged. https://www.inkmagic.com/shopcontent.asp?type=Unclog_Brother_Inkjet_Printhead_Nozzles
