Cost a bit more but you're getting a feature packed device that prints only Black and White. You can Scan in color. These devices are what I'm replacing awful HP versions we have and so far, there has been little to no complaints. The toner install is easy that I taught my users how to do it. Thus far it's been a very Brother experience. Here's hoping it continues that way.

I found the operational interface to be quirky and not user friendly. Also, no matter app and updates, I could not get the scanner to scan from the printer unit, only from my computer.

I always buy Brother. This machine kicks butt. Clear, crisp images. Speedy. I've had the machine for nearly a year. Still running well. I imagine it will withstand 4-5 years of my nonstop printing for various tasks.

I used one my son loaned me for a few years - probably a five year-old model. The scanning software was cranky and rendered useless for non-tech types. When my son needed the old model back, I went right out and bought this one - it seems to be the latest and greatest. Significantly updated software and completely updated interface that works even for non-tech me, especially when paired with the app that helps to drive everything. I now dominate all my printing and scanning needs - which are many - and wish I had made the switch a few years ago.
