It is as simple as this: because I print checks on my Brother printer, I can't afford the hassle of dealing with "less than perfect" pages. Maybe other folks have had good luck with non-OEM (refilled) toner cartridges, but I have not. For me, it is well worth the price of the Brother toner to have peace of mind with my printing.

3000+ pages!

Almost worth price, but quality is good

The knockoff brands begin to "smear" the print and leave blotches, which then you have to just print again. So if the print job is important, stay with the Brothers toner.
