I rejected a Canon printer in favor of this Brother printer because I can replace ink cartridges separately as needed with less expensive, compatible ones like I could do with my older and reliable Canon printer. The newer ones are designed to lock the user into buying the proprietary, "integrated" Canon cartridges. I want to report some niggling problems with initial setup. I have a Mac running OS 11, Big Sur, and the Brother wireless setup instructions in the online manual were extremely confusing, frustrating and eventually a failure. A Mac forum had a suggestion that jump-started the wireless printing, but even that failed after about 4 pages. I'm OK with using a USB cable, I don't need to print from my phone or my iPad, so I'm just happy to be printing "wired."

I like the Brothers J497DW printer very much. Very user friendly, clear prints. And ink is cheaper.

So far this printer is awesome. This is my second brother printer from best buy. My other one last me a very long time. I am hoping this one last a very long time. The print work is fantastic. I have not used all the features as of yet but I am sure everything will work. I love the fact that i did not need a pc to connect this printer.

I always liked Brother Products. This printer was no exception. Setup was a breeze and the print quality is fantastic.

This Work Smart has all the features you'd expect from an inkjet printer. Quality is as expected and comparable to other inkjets. Documents look fine and photos look great provided you use appropriate glossy photo paper and set the quality to "Best" on your computer. Copying is as easy as placing a document on the scanner bed or inside the document feeder (no computer needed, copying works out of the box!) Speaking of the document feeder, it's a feature often excluded from lower end inkjets and one I love to see. Scanning is easily done through the built-in Windows 10 scanning app. And yes, it has fax capability, if you're into that sort of thing in 2020... Most surprising to me was the incredibly easy set up with our computers. Windows 10 has built-in drivers that will automatically recognize the printer when it's connected to the same wireless network. No driver installation disks or website links to follow. Windows will automatically see the Brother and set it as your default printer with no special set up necessary. A welcome feature considering printers are notorious for being a pain in the rear to set up properly. Overall, this is a low-cost, feature rich piece of hardware that will get the job done in most home situations. It's not a heavy duty office printer but it's not meant to be - if you need a simple to set up and use device to print something every once in a while, this one will be hard to pass up given its price. Be prepared to stock up on ink if you print a lot, though.

Good multi-function printer with good print quality, scanning and FAX. As with any other inkjet the ink does not last long enough and is expensive. I have not tried non Brother cartridges as I have had compatibility issue with them in the past. No issues with FAX over Magic Jack line. Does what it supposed to do

We've had several in this line of Brother all-in-ones in the family. This one continues to work well at a great price. Still able to use aftermarket ink cartridges, the real cost of printer ownership. Initially certain aftermarket cartridges did not work on this one. However, many now have updated to the latest Brother chip and will work, although the fill levels may not display perfectly.

Very nice printer, easy setup works great. The right size and ink is very reasonably priced.

This all in one is a great printer and it is very inexpensive and is a work horse and provides wonderful copies, scans quickly and does a fairly decent color print. Don't buy if you are looking for very high end quality color printing but if you are like me and use color for some photos and not professional grade needs then this is the right printer. Wonderful and inexpensive.

I haven't had it a long time but so far I love it. Easy to set up and very good print quality.

After owning every type of printer over the last 20 years, now days Brother is my choice for price and reliability.

cellent price , good brand name,,, forcing people to write more characters on a review is not a good look for a super store. My Review of "Excellent" should be enough, but it's never enough, this is the point where Best Buy goes of the road. This is why people will not be ordered like a communist to create a longer review which actually makes it more difficult and not a sincere, if you force them to write more . So what is trying to be accomplished here? Other then scaring people away from foolish reviews that are time consuming and tedious under your platform. People in charge of your company are GREAT at scaring customers away. E-bay whom is far bigger then you only requires one word reviews. "EXCELLENT" Ya think they may no something that you don't? Online shopping portals have a better selection then Best Buy, cheaper pricing, and can use your store as a showroom, then buy the product on Amazon or E-Bay for a discounted price. It's called Freedom to write the review that you want to write, being it one word or many like in this complaint. Within 10 years brick and mortar stores will be a thing of the past, as warehouse space is much cheaper then retail snazzy looking space. Just ask WAYFAIR. The printer quality is great and a plus connected with wifi allowing everyone in the house to print from their own devices. The only issue that I have is the print cartridges run out way too fast. Since buying a couple of months ago we have had to replace both black and color ink cartridges at least 4 times and we don't really print very often.

It’s great color printing for photo cards and easy to use my iPhone for print.
