Now that we are all working from home I need an inexpensive printer to print draft docs and emails to markup. This does the job just fine so long as you are not expecting the performance of an office printer.

it works well but goes through ink like crazy and the paper tray was very tricky in the beginning to get in and out

I love my Brother printer. Back to my normal. After trying out two other brands, I'm happy to be back to a Brother product. Over the past 10 years, Brother performs best at the lowest cost every time.

Printing quality is decent for an inexpensive printer but the wireless wizard must be executed any time the connection is dropped. Very inconvenient.

This is my second Brother printer. The only reason I updated was due to Ink cartridges being harder to find. This printer isn't a speed demon, but it does everything I expected. Good quality machine.

Sale price acceptable. Took an hour to set up, instructions could have been more detailed. Print time is a bit slower than expected but quality is acceptable.

Not really impressed with this printer but for the money it does the job. Issue is it runs out of black ink fast and constant paper jams.

Compared to my hp envy 4520 more complicated, and heavier. Still working how to learn how to set up fax lol but overall, sturdy great product. You can set up ink subscriptions. I like the buttons are big, clear and all in one.

It's one of the few printers that let's you print in black and white when a color cartridge runs out. For that alone you should get it over any non Brother printer.

This is a very good printer. I really liked it because of the size of the paper tray but I had to return it because it didn’t fax.

This is just what we needed. I'd have given it 5stars but I'm going with 4 only because it does take it's time printing large color photos. All in all, though it does a great job!

Great printer for kids doing school work at home at this time as well as working from home for the adults too. Ink replacement is inexpensive as well.

This unit was a nice addition to my home office. I occasionally scan larger documents so an automatic feed was important to me. This works well.

Only had it for a couple of weeks, but am very satisfied with the printer & all of its features. Love the two-sided printing. Copies are very good quality. So far, it is a good purchase.

Very good printer scanner ink cartridges are somewhat less expensive than competitors wish it had a tray for feedin envelopes and labels.

The Brother MFC-J497DW printer is a very well constructed and has very high quality components. It operates smoothly and functions flawlessly. Very pleased, and the price was just great.

The only complaint I have for this printer is that it prints really slow. Other than that it is well worth the money.

Purchased this on 7/27/20 to work from home waited about two weeks to set up. Setup was rather quick and easy. First three pages came out great after that could only print in color. Black ink cartridge is full and will not print in black. I am returning.

I purchased this as a gift for my daughter because I have an older model Brother all-in-one that I am happy with. She was able to connect it to her lap top easily without any problems.
