You don't get what you bought

Plus there is no mention of being able to be linked to Alexa on the packaging. And guess what....it won't work with Alexa! I had to return it....and its going to cost me to ship it which is unfair because Best Buy didn't send me what was advertised. Im paying for their mistake.

Terrible.

The connection drops. The app is terrible and sfter rebooting lights for the 7th time now they dont connect from the GE app to the google home app

Okay at best, frustrating otherwise.

First, the Bluetooth control is unreliable and I will often find myself changing colors only to have one bulb not respond and the others work. I then have to repeat until I get the desired results. Second is the app. What is the point GE? The C app just tells you to use Google Home. This is fine and I use it already, but now I've lost the advertised ability to schedule the lights or use dimming. Just use the C app then right? No, now you cannot use Google Home or control them over the internet. This seems like false advertising and consumer deception. GE and Google should implement a connector in the Home app so you can use both, just like so many other products do. I won't recommend this product because I feel lied to about it's capabilities. I won't return it because I got them almost free with a reward certificate. Same your frustrations and buy something else, at least as of now.

Posted .Hi there! The Google Home service has been experiencing some technical difficulties for the last several weeks. This has been affecting a large number of Google Home devices which are dropping their connection to our bulbs. Since our bulbs are the very first "Made for Google" product, they are the only devices being affected by this since they connect directly to the Google Home device rather than to their own native app and then linked to Google Home. Remember, our bulbs are simply Bluetooth-enabled bulbs. They do not "think." Instead, they connect to your Google Home device and that is what controls the bulb and tells it what to do. If your Google Home device every drops the connection, the bulb will think it is connected until you reset it and put it into pairing mode again. Since the bulbs are Bluetooth-enabled, they require a Bridge to connect to Wifi. When added to the Google Home app, they use your Google Home device as a hub since it is Wifi-connected and designed for use with that app. In the C by GE app, you can use any one of our Wifi enabled devices such as our smart switches or smart plug as a Bridge since they are designed for use with our app. If you have any questions or any additional concerns, feel free to contact our Customer Support team at 1-844-302-2943 or [email protected].

Bad/no smart controls

Without a hub GE requires you to pair with Bluetooth everytime you want to change the status of the bulb and you can't do any voice control. I'm very surprised how bad they are. You can't link C by GE account with Google home or learn an Alexa skill. Does not cooperate at all. DO NOT BUY! TP-Link actually does what this falsely advertises. It works with Alexa and Google home without a hub. Voice control on and off and dim level with Google Home and Echo no problem.

Don't waste your money

GE states you can connect straight through Google Home App/Mini/Assistant without having to use their hub for most functions. That you can use their App to create scenes and use them in Google Home Routines, while heavily implying in their language that you can do this WITHOUT the hub. Which would make these bulbs a FAR better value for money than most competitors. What they DON'T tell you is: A) There is a limit of 8 bulbs you can direct-connect in this way per Google Home Device you have - and even that limit is not reliable B) Google Hone in fact CANNOT recognize and use Scenes created in the C by GE App without your having the Hub, directly contradicting the implications of their advertising - I won't say they are falsely advertising because the language there is actually pretty grey, but it is definitely past borderline. C) When something goes wrong with these bulbs (not if), you cannot un-pair and delete a single bulb from Google Home in order to reset and fix it. You have to un-pair and reset EVERY SINGLE BULB you connected, then re-pair and re-program each of them D) Each time you un-pair and reset them, they become increasingly unstable and harder to both accurately reset and re-pair with Google Home (not blinking, not found, becoming randomly unavailable far faster after having been finally paired which ends in having to un-pair and reset every single bulb yet again in order to fix). I bought a total of 10 bulbs - 2 Color, 2 Sleep, 6 Soft White. I have had them installed for 5 days - that is less than a week. I have had to un-pair and reset all of them a grand total of 8 times in that time. "Works out of the box" indeed. Just this morning, after thinking I finally had them working, the Sleep bulb in my bedside lamp came on as scheduled in Google home, responded to a voice color setting, and then in the time it took me to brush my teeth became "unfindable" by Google Home. Please try again later. I am returning them asap - tonight if my schedule permits. I did not pay over $100 for this kind of stress and time wasting to keep resetting. It's too bad too. I liked them when they did work. But in this case, I guess you really do get what you pay for. Save yourself and buy Philips or LifeX.

Waste of money .

Called support and they said that I had to have google home funny everything else I have can hook up to these ! Ge get your crap together and keep up with the times ! I have one for my Alexa a different brand of course and it’s super easy to connect these are a joke !

This bulb keep getting reset on its own and starts blinking. And you will end up again configuring them. This happens at least once in 2 weeks. I bought smart bulbs from other companies and never faced this kinda problem.

Doesn't Work After a Couple of Months

I know where I have placed these bulbs. After about 10 weeks two of the bulbs began to fail, one from Best Buy and the second from the other store. Resetting the failed bulbs is not difficult but one of the bulbs would not respond at all after a few required resets. It lights up but won't respond to my Google Home or to the Google Home App. The other will respond but after a week or so it stops responding. I am forced to reset it again before it starts to respond to my Google Home commands. Thankfully, the other four are still working, but I don't know for how long. I would not recommend buying these bulbs as they appear to have a high failure rate! If you didn't buy Best Buy's warranty, you are out of luck trying to have the defective bulbs replaced. Instructions on the box calls for you to return the bulbs to GE. That's not really a viable option as it means you end up paying even more for poor quality bulbs.

Posted .Hi there! We are sorry to hear that your Google Home device dropped the connection to your bulbs. Our bulbs are covered under a 3-year manufacturers warranty. A warranty replacement is free of charge, and all you would need to do is contact our Support. However, since you have more than one bulb experiencing this issue, and they are still powering on, it doesn't sound like the bulbs are defective. We just need to reset them correctly and then reconnect them to your Google Home. These are simply Bluetooth-enabled bulbs. They basically have two modes: Connected or in pairing mode. All of the "thinking" is done by your Google Home device which tells the bulbs what to do. If the bulbs lose connection, they have no way to know, so they will stay in the last mode they were in prior to disconnecting. They can not be reconnected or discovered by the app until they are reset back into pairing mode. However, it is always best to first try simply rebooting your Google Home device any time you experience connection issues. If rebooting fails to resolve the issue, then try resetting the bulbs and/or Google Home device. Finally, when resetting your bulbs, make sure you are not using a three-way lamp. If the lamp switch requires more than one turn or pull to turn on/off the lamp, it is a three-way lamp and you will need to move the bulb to an on/off standard switch lamp or a standard light fixture. Great color selection. They just stopped working with my google home mini. The light itself still worked just not the voice control or the brightness or dimming. Thank you for taking the time to review our product. We are sorry to hear that your smart light stopped responding to the app. We would like to help. It sounds like your smart light is still functional, but has simply disconnected from your Google Home device. This tends to happen when Google pushes firmware updates to Google Home devices. The god news is it is not broken or defective, we simply need to reset the bulb to reconnect it to your Google Home device.
To reset your bulb, you will need to turn it off. Then, after about 10 seconds, you will need to turn it on for 8 seconds, then off for two seconds, on for 8 seconds, off for 2 seconds... Keep repeating until you see the bulb flash. You can also find the instructions here: https://support.cbyge.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015498292-How-To-Factory-Reset-Your-C-Life-C-Sleep-Bulbs
Once you see your bulb flash, try adding it to the Google Home app by tapping on Add - > Set up device - > Set up new devices. Then, chose your Home Location, and it should start searching for the bulb. If your bulb is on, it reset, and you are still unable to discover it, the next solution is going to be to factory reset your Google Home device using the procedure found here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7073477?hl=en
Finally, you will need to set up your Google Home device and add it back to the app again using the steps found here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7029485?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en

Horrible Smart Lights

The official C by GE app begs you to use the Google Home app because their app is pure garbage. Can't stay connected to the bulbs for more than one or two light changes. Don't even get me started on the reset process...look up their official video on Youtube if you don't believe me: "UPDATED: How to: Reset C by GE Bulbs". This process should tell you everything you need to know about it's ease of use. Save up for a Phillips Hue starter set. You won't regret spending more on an actual cohesive product. Swing and a miss, GE.

Wouldn't connect properly

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So I was at best buy gathering a few items and noticed these were on sale, I took them home and set them up-ish (mind you I have a lot of smart items at home) and these simply would not work. I had to factory reset at least 10 times per bulb... I had enough and returned them. A while back I bought Energizer connect bulbs and they connected easily and worked ever since. I just bought two more and has zero issues. Needless to say, the wifi connection within these bulbs are simply garbage and way more costly then some low end items.

Worst smart bulbs ever

I bought these light bulbs to work with Alexa and I never could get them to work. I even went and purchased a Google Nest mini to try and get these light bulbs to work and only for some reason one week later the Google app found the light bulbs and decided it would work with these two. Overall horrible experience I took it back don't buy these light bulbs. By sengled instead they work so much better.

FIRE HAZARD..BASE HEATS UP FIXTURES...GE is AWARE

I contacted GE because I knew they were still under Manufacture warranty, GE only response was we are aware of the base heating up. That’s our design. The base is so hot it heated up my lamp base which btw had the appropriate size bulb in it. I tried several different GE bulbs in different fixtures and they all heated up all my fixtures. DO NOT BUY NGE SMART BULBS!!!!

Did not Work

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.These gave me a really hard time when I tried to connect them to the WiFi and they never connected to my Alexa or Google Assistant devices. On top of that, they would only work if I was home, I'm assuming it only worked because I was under the WiFi the bulbs were connected to but couldn't turn them on when I was away from home which was the whole point. Cant really recommend them since they can't be control from the outside.

Posted .Hi Nicole, our bulbs connect via Bluetooth, and are limited to control within a 40ft range unless assisted by one of our hubs. Our hubs include the on/off smart plug, in-wall wired-switch, or C-Reach. We recommend the On/Off smart plug. In regards to getting them connected with Google, so long as you have a 1st party Google Home device, it should be a breeze; give our support staff a call or email at 1-844-302-2943, or [email protected] they'll be more than happy to assist.
