Awesome alternative to expensive wifi bulbs

A really great value alternative to the more expensive bulbs like philips hue and lifx, etc. if you just want a decently priced wifi bulb that only does white light, these are the perfect option, especially if you have a lot of rooms you want to change to Wifi bulbs. Works with smart assistants too like google home, etc.

Can't keep connected

Ended up uninstalling the app, resetting the lights and forgetting about the plug since I couldn't seem to get it connected again. The sale price made up the cost of the plug or I'd take it back. Very frustrating.

Posted .Sorry to hear you are having trouble. There are 2 ways to use our lights with Google Assistant. If you prefer to use the Google Home app instead of our native app, this is known as a "Made for Google"product. This allows you to pair C by GE lights using the Google Home app which uses the Bluetooth controller built into the Google Home speaker. The Google Home app is used to manage the bulbs and you cannot use the C by GE app along with this method. The bulbs must be within Bluetooth range of the Google Home speaker or they could disconnect. The lights are meant to be used within the same room as the Google Home speaker. Bluetooth is an excellent way to enable these kind of devices to talk to each other but it also has limitations. The range is limited depending on the environment and the potential for interference is much higher than Wi-Fi. I have been using our bulbs with a Google Home hub for exactly a year now and I have NEVER needed to reset and reconnect my lights. Believe me it can be easy if you let it be.
That being said, since you own a Plug, you should not be using the "Made for Google" method to connect. The Plug does not work the same as our lights and should not be setup directly in the Google Home app. The Google Home app might find the Plug and try to interface with it, but it will probably recognize the Plug as a bulb and if it does allow you to set it up, it will not work because it is not meant to. What you need to do is unlink your lights from the Google Home app so that they reset, then add the Smart Plug along with your lights to the C by GE app. Make sure the Plug and lights are setup in the same Location (Home), run any firmware updates that come up, then link your C by GE account in the home control section of the Google Home app.This is known as a "Works with Google" product and this is how ALL other smart home brands connect to Google Home. Once the account is linked, your devices will load into the Google Home app the same way they would in the first method above and all you need to do is keep the lights close enough to the Plug to keep a stable Bluetooth connection.
I know it is frustrating because these details are not documented in detail online and there are no instructions in the box. I strongly suggest and encourage everyone to dig into the Google Home app and learn all the menus, features, and practice managing your devices. If you are using our app I encourage you to call our support team and just tell the agent you want to talk to someone who is experienced using Google Home with our products and we will gladly do our best to explain all these details and share best practices with you. Once you have a good understanding of how these products interoperate, you will have better experience with it.
