    Gotta love Caavo

After one week of using Caavo system, our family simply loves it. Both the control unit and remote are well-designed, sleek and visually appealing. The installation was surprising easy, even for a self-declared technophobe like me. The commands and buttons are pleasantly intuitive, particularly the Help feature of Caavo. The distinct Menu and Keypad buttons replace the traditional fumbling with multiple navigation buttons on general remotes. The overall button layout on the remote feels just right, presenting all essential functions, and at the same time not overly cluttered. The Voice commands work great, so does navigation across different devices. Even though we are yet to exploit all of its features (such as Long Press or all the Voice commands), it has already proven to be a worthwhile investment for a great entertainment experience. Very well done by Caavo team.

I’m not going to bore you with all the details everyone else already said. This thing rocks. Setup was a bit long, but I understand why. Only one issue during setup and that was getting my 10ish year old Samsung TV would not turn off. Directv setup 100% Blu-ray setup 100% Roku setup 100% Nintendo Switch setup 100% Xbox One setup 100% Denon ARV setup 100% The way they designed the remote, tailored to the specific device you’re using is amazing. The voice remote works perfect as did the Alexa skill. Cooking in the kitchen telling Alexa to turn the TV on and telling her to turn to ESPN. LOVE IT! of course the device switching worked as it should: “Launch Roku” “Launch Blu-ray” “Launch Switch” “Launch Directv” My only complaint, no physical number pad on the remote. Would be nice if they added it. So many people have voices the same feedback. Great job Caavo! Dc

    A Remote for my Family

I have three young kids, wife and my parents who live with me. TV is watched by everyone and very differently. I have cable TV, streaming device and game console. Sports (I watch), Netflix/Hulu (my wife), youtube (my kids), disney and nick (my kiddo) and news (my inlaws). There was never a way I could make everyone happy. I would get constants calls about how to do something and now matter how much I tried to simplify and explain, it didn't work for everyone. Control Center has solved that for me. Now the fight at home is for who grabs that remove control the fastest! Highly recommended.

    CAAVO- momma’s new BF

Imagine me: a new mom breastfeeding on the couch, remote far away across the room when the episode of my binge-worthy Bravo show ends...what’s a momma to do?! I had my Echo set up to voice control my Caavo, and I quickly selected and started the next episode. Crisis averted, baby unaffected. But in all seriousness, caavo has made my internet-exclusive cable experience so much better. I can navigate easily through all my apps and I don’t have to get mad at husband when I turn on the tv and have to switch inputs from PS4 to get to my shows. Must have for people with lots of devices and busy families that need hands-free remote!

    Fell short of expectations

First, pass on the service that costs extra. Not much value there. I bought the device early, and I could not find a way to set up the device without paying. I wanted the full experience, so I bought a lifetime pass, and I never use it. Second, the remote does not play well with my service provider, so when I go to a channel with two digits that are the same, it does not read the signal correctly. (So when I put in 1005, my set top box only sees 105). So not a good all in one remote. Third, this is a great switch. I have multiple devices, and I can easily switch between them with this box. The remote does work well with my Apple TV. The remote is better than the Apple TV remote, but not better than my Harmony remote, Overall - a good but not great device.

    Total Game Changer

It used to be that I was the only person in my house that could figure out how to get the TV on and working with our sound bar because we had a remote for everything. After I got our Caavo hooked up, even my 93 yr old Grandma doesn't struggle to switch between streaming apps because she can just talk to the remote. I had a bit of a hiccup during setup where I eventually learned that my HDMI cable was an older version that wouldn't pass through HDR, but I'm still giving 5 stars because Caavo's customer service helped me figure that out pretty quick. For anyone else in my shoes, you need HDMI 2.0 cables or newer!

Slick interface, but not for Gamers

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Caavo has a lot of things going for it. It takes a step forward in addressing the issue we had with aggregating content across multiple services and I loved the voice search. But, I had to return this for one main reason: the input lag it introduces makes PS4 gaming unplayable. The secondary reason, but one I probably could have lived with, is the picture degradation. You get a dimmer picture and in dark scenes, you lose some detail. Although, this could potentially be fixed by recalibrating my TV. So if you are just watching TV through this, the interface, voice search and watchlist aggregation may be worth it. The remote is slick, the voice commands through the remote and Alexa worked (most of the time). But the gaming lag was unbearable. I really hope they fix this in the next version, because Caavo is something I'd really like to have.

Thanks for your review, Matt. While we understand you've already returned your Control Center, we wanted to let you know that we've since released a few updates that have fixed issues with video quality.

The input lag you're describing with your PS4 is unexpected, as we have many users with a PS4 connected to their Control Center without input lag. That would definitely be something our support team would like to look in to. We're here to help if you decide to give us another try: https://support.caavo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?chat=true caavo

Overall, the device delivers and is continuing to be updated and enhanced. The hold-back on being a 5 star product is the lack of Dolby Vision support (parallel solution in development) and could use a couple more HDMI ports for most folks these days. Personally, 6 or 7 versus 4 would have been the sweet spot. Those quibbles aside, the device performs and has replaced my Harmony remotes without regrets. I like the simplified approach and do not miss the fancy touchscreens of my Harmony remotes. Finally, customer service has been outstanding whenever I've had a question or setup issue. The responses have been prompt, courteous and concise. I know some folks will be disappointed about the Dolby Vision misstep and I get it. However, if that is not a concern for you or you have a slightly "older" setup - I would not hesitate give this a wholehearted recommendation. I hope the Caavo team continue the hard work and maintain the progression of the platform so that it succeeds long term.

Best HDMI Switch & Universal Remote with Voice

Great Solution for users with complexe set of video streaming, cable TV and audio devices. First device I have seen that really leverages the automation capabilities of home ethernet network, HDMI, and Bluetooth. Also includes IR blaster capability for controlling older devices. Good customer service to assist in the initial setup. Perfect for a knowledgeable user to set up an environment to make it easier for the less knowledgeable to use and access all the available content. Best to use the subscription service which is inexpensive and offers free 45 day trial. If it had whole house multi-room distribution it would be perfect. Has major Cable TV and Satellite provider support. OTA control coming.

The Caavo is a great device to combine your other devices. All on one remote. I Use an Apple TV, Fire TV Cube, dish, and Xbox 1 (DVD) I am not a gamer but the quality for the price of an xbox is great. Now I have seen this unit control all 4 devices as well as my TV and Denon Amplifier all in one and without having to change modes it knows what you are watching and just works, very easy to operate and defiantly would recommend to all my friends and family!

Since adding Control Center into my entertainment center it has helped me reduce my remote count from 6 down to 1. With the For Your Consideration and Crowd Surfing section it helps me find content to watch. I also didn't run into any issues during setup and it even learned the IR commands for my older soundbar when it didn't have the stored codes.

Just bought this hoping to simplify watching tv while using multiple devices. I have an Onkyo surround sound system, xfinity cable, Roku, and an Xbox One. This device works amazingly well with all devices. Extremely simple to use. No more pressing a button to control a certain device, just switch to the device you want to use and the remote works that device! Even works well with Google Assistant.

Caavo the future for your home theater device hub

I have to admit I was initially skeptical about whether I would like this product but after putting it through its paces I've grown to use it for all of my home theater devices. I especially like how I can verbally switch between different source devices, especially nice that it has Amazon Alexa integration as well! Even my wife says it's great because in the past she would struggle trying to figure out which button on which remote to press in order to use any given device, say DirecTV, Blu-ray player, or Apple TV 4K. I was fortunate enough to be able to play around with the previous/first-gen Caavo device, and am pleased that this current-gen device has a much smaller footprint.

Great concept, not quite ready for prime-time

The Good Device controller – this is where Caavo shines. Set up and operation exceeded expectations. Google Home integration – this also worked fairly well, and worked even better after setting some Assistant routines. The Bad Limited search results – Caavo fails on its most promising feature, content aggregation. Unfortunately, it will not return any viewing options from your provider’s (i.e., FiOS or Xfinity) on-demand catalog. It is limited to searching apps loaded onto a supported streaming device (Roku, Fire TV, etc.). So if you have a cable subscription – or stream content via Chromecast from an unconnected device (phone or tablet), you’re going to be disappointed. No numeric keypad – here the designers opted for form over function. As a result, you either need to scroll, scroll, scroll to get to your desired channel – or rely on a cumbersome process of using the voice control to say the number (or channel name), then hoping it’s included in the search results so you can select it. You can set channels as a favorite, but still have to navigate several steps to get there. It would be far easier if they included a numeric key pad (like 99% of other universal remotes…) Overall, this product could be great for many people - depending on how normally watch tv or how your system is set up. Unfortunately, the rest of us will have to wait.

      Hi Michael,

Thank you for your feedback. In regard to search, the Control Center has a relay search feature, which would allow you to search content on your Chromecast. Once you do a voice search and see results, you can press the 3 lines button on the Control Center remote and and select a specific input, the Control Center will then relay the search through that device and show you results specific to that device.

While there isn't a keypad, you are also able to speak the channel name or number into the Control Center remote to go straight to that channel.

Please reach out to [email protected], I'd love to get you in touch with a member of our team to assist and turn your experience around.

      Thank you,

    Control Problems Connection Problema

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I really wanted this too work. It sounded like a great idea. I worked with it for about 4 hours overall. It would not reliably pair with 3 of my 5 devices. Pro: It connected reliably with my Roku. However, it was much more difficult to get what I wanted than with the Roku remote. It appeared to connect reliably with my Sony BluRay player. I did not try a dvd, but the connection appeared stable. Partial success: Amazon fire TV. Confusing. I finally disconnected this device from the Caavo in order to complete setup of the other devices. In all fairness, I have never been able to reliably connect this device. Cons: Would not connect reliably with Cox cable. I could see and select the device, but the remote would not change channels or perform any of the other remote functions. I couldn't establish a reliable connection with my Bose Cinemate Series II sound bar. After going thru all the attempted codes, it suggested their dongle. I got it to work one time, but it would not re-connect after the TV was turned off and then on again. The Caavo remote is very small and unintuitive. No backlight. Impossible to use in a darkened room. I paid for lifetime updates before I figured out that most of what I purchased the Caavo for wouldn't work reliably. They offer a 45 day free trial, so I will request a refund. If I can get this thing properly reboxed (it was packaged very well), I will attempt to return for a refund. This is a great idea, it just didn't work for me.

    Decent alternative to Harmony

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The setup was not too painful, but a few cons in my book: - lacking more integrations with common apps. For me it's Emby (Plex alternative). I need to be about to search live TV and movies via Emby. As well as xbox, hdhomerun to name more. - Limited to 4 HDMI ports, I need more - It has trouble with my Samsung cable vision box, I can't control sound (tried registering remote multiple times). - For some reason I have issues opening YouTube videos. It will be default go to my firetv but when it attempts to open it only gets as far as opening the app, then I have to manually search again. Overall it's a great start, it just feels like it's missing a little more for those looking to use this to bridge gaps to cut the cord.
