Good but expensive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good product. It was very easy to set up and the video quality is excellent even in the dark. I do get some random notifications from reflections or sunlight. It is an expensive product and you would have to pay extra for monitoring. I do feel safer having the Canary and I would buy it again knowing what I know now.

Great Home Monitoring Solution
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was very quick and easy to set up. Very few false positive notifications. Love the privacy feature which shuts the system off when you are or other identified people are in the home. Automatically turns the system on when you leave. Easy to control and monitor with the iPhone app. I have had two for a couple of months now and I am very happy with it. The devices monitor air quality, temperature and humidity levels too. Would be nice if air quality details were made available for each type of gas it monitors.

Great system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great camera, night vision works great also, but I wish there was an option to manually turn night vision on and off remotely instead of it being automatic on a sensor. It also picks up audio well and it pairs well with the app. I also have the canary flex, they are both paired with the app and i receive notifications if the motion sensors go off on either one. It's also nice that you can turn down the sensitivity on the motion sensors since I have pets. I was disappointed to find out however that the voice speaker feature has not been activated yet, once that gets set up it will be a pretty neat system. Havn't tested the siren yet...lol.

Great security camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This canary security camera is great, very friendly user. I didn't have any problems setting up or connecting to my Samsung note! I have to point out that it is a little light sensitive, false detection. Overall I really like this product .

Poor company
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the camera used two month only, everything's fine until 10/04/2017 company changed policy. Not happy and Best Buy should stop stocking and selling this product! I am not satisfied with this product at all! There are definitely better products on the product for a similar price, or acceptable products on the market for a lower price. after several hours on WIFI the unit goes offline...therefore I have to keep it plugged into Ethernet, so I am limited as to where I can place the device. Additionally, the device is terrible at recognizing when I leave and arrive home, forcing me to be constantly manually changing between home and away mode throughout the day. Even those these 2 things made me very disappointed with the product, I still liked the fact that it provided me with security of knowing what is going on at home...until now. Canary recently updated their 'plan' so I can no longer view full videos, but only a 10 second preview of 'activity' in my home unless I buy the membership...therefore I can no longer use this device for home security because the video will not show anything without the membership. I will not be paying a $10/month membership on top of the camera I purchased for this poor device. Since I have had the camera for a few months, and since Canary will no longer give free full access to activity detected videos for 24 hours, I will no longer use this product and my Canary will become an expensive and disappointing paper weight...I will also refuse to do business with this company in the future. When I purchased this product their policy was to give full access to videos for 24 hours without a membership, now my canary is virtually useless without the membership...would like to hear back from Canary regarding this policy change as to why they can take the full videos away and I am sure many other people who currently have the product and not the membership are also very upset at Canary.

Posted .Hi Maggie, I’m sorry that you are disappointed with the recent service changes. I do want to clarify that Canary users who don't opt in to Membership still have access to the core set of Canary features that includes: notifications when motion is detected (as well as customizable HomeHealth notifications for temperature, humidity, and air quality deviations), the ability to Watch Live anytime (day or night—with automatic night vision), recorded video clips that are stored for 24 hours, activity zone masking, remote siren activation, one-touch access to police/fire/EMS, automatic arming/disarming, and more. The recent changes to the amount of video recording on our free plan aligns with the cost to process and store this video. What we offer is still more than what you get with most products in this category—many of which don’t offer any video recording without a subscription. Canary Membership is optional and enables additional features such as longer video clips, extended storage, desktop streaming, etc. (You can find more information about Membership here: https://canary.is/membership — and If you'd like to try it at a discount here’s a code for 25% off an annual plan: you can go into the plan signup, at my.canary.is, input your info and use this code: “annualoffer".) Please know that changes to our free service were carefully considered based on user needs and preferences, while also addressing the costs to provide a free option. Since we first launched Canary we have continuously updated the product experience with new features and improvements and will continue to do so for all users. Thanks for taking the time to comment. All the best, - Jon @ Canary

Good security camera with no monitor fee required
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did lots research and it is best camera I could find that doesn't require monthly fee for storing video, although only 12 hrs. Sends push notifications to phone when activity detected and easy to install on phone to auto detect when away. Requires static modem IP address to maintain reliable connection. Cons: 1. Good wide angle but no panning /tilt 2. One way audio - can only hear 3. Very easy almost too easy to trigger siren from phone application 4. Can only access via phone application, no computer access

Great indoor camera for the cost
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Originally bought one when they were on sale for $107 for my dogs room to watch and talk to them while I was a work. Had one of the pet cube treat ones but the sound of the treats scared them and the WiFi chip was horrible (I have an Orbi mesh system so strength isn’t an issue). Loved it so much I bought a second and will probably get a flex or two for outside. Pros: -The picture is great and the live view delay is about 2 seconds which isn’t bad. -Have only had maybe one connection drop -Temp and humidity sensors seem spot on (compared with my ecobee) no way to test accuracy or air quality but it does show spikes when I’m cooking, smoking, or my dogs have gas (haha). -Build quality is solid -Siren is loud at -98db. Gets my dogs attention when they are being bad while I’m gone. -Geofence setup is easy is quick to recognize when I leave and sets the system to away mode. Cons -App is not a con but it’s far from intuitive. Easy to use but there are a lot of areas they can approve -“talk” speaker is not loud -Though subscription isn’t expensive, $9.99 for first 5 devices, I feel they should I expand the features rather than shift free features to paid. Build out more. -Biggest con... no Apple HomeKit integration. Only “smart device” in the house that doesn’t.

Awesome home security system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This security system is so easy to setup and use. It only took me 5 minutes to get it up and running. The picture quality is great and the alerts are simple to setup.

Handy features...but be cautious
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this based on reviews from some tech podcasts I follow. It has some handy features like air quality monitoring, although it's very generic - the alerts on my mobile device don't tell me what is off when an air quality alert goes off, I have to go in and check the readouts for humidity, etc, based on a "low / medium / high" kind of scaling, rather than numerical values. The visual quality is pretty good - it has a wide field of view, and a clear picture. I've noticed an average of a 1-2 second lag time between motion detection and notification, and while watching the live feed; so if you're using this for its intended purpose as a home security camera, the 1-2 seconds doesn't make a huge difference in the grand scheme of things. If you're using it as a baby or child monitor, or something like that where 1-2 seconds could mean bigger trouble, you'll probably want to find a different solution.

Love my canary
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a product that is simple to install and gives instant awareness of what is happening inside the home when you are not. Setup was easy, also uses iPhone proximity ... Switches to off when home and on when away... Hoping future software updates alert for temperature Change, currently only monitors for motion with alerting. You can also view what is going on when away with live feed , very easy to use using app... No workstation app only smartphone..

Excellent camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is pretty pricey but it does the job very very well . If you don't have a good speed Internet they may freeze sometimes . If you need and hitting camera , for me this is one of the best choice because it doesn't look like a secure camera .

Inexpensive and useful monitoring system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The canary has proven to be a very useful monitoring system for a very affordable price. With two canaries, I have been able to monitor all of the points of entry to the first floor of my home. Having a teenage son, the canaries have been useful as a means of making sure that he does not have guests while I am out.

needs some more features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.although the lens is wide view it still in my opinion needs a movable camera. i have cheaper systems that do a better job by getting more recording view than this high end camera security system. overall its ui is fresh and the setup is easier to install.

Pretty Good Home Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This security camera is not bad at all. Has an excellent display and really good night vision. Only down side is that it does not move or swivel and once your 2 week free trial is up you have to purchase a plan. Luckily the data plans are not bad.

Great item, but too expensive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great inside the home and the quality of the video is pretty amazing. We use this one in the kitchen and have a great angle on our entrance and the rest of the living room. My favorite part of the canary system is the seamless automation with your location and set times. Pretty much set it and forget it. The video quality is pretty excellent and the night vision mode is pretty great.it is also pretty good at picking up audio. My only gripe is that it's so expensive to have multiple cameras throughout thenhouse

Very good for the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The angle of view on this device is about 90 degrees so you can pretty much place it in the corner of a room and capture video of the entire room. The video quality is surprisingly good and the audio quality is good as well. There is about a 4-7 second delay from live event and playback. The alarm is loud enough to alert a bad guy. I can also use this in my motorhome and it works well. Overall I really like this product and I am in the security business.

Canary vs Arlo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the Canary home security camera. It not only provides visual security, but it also monitors the temperature, humidity and air quality. It is much easier to set up than the Arlo camera. l originally purchased a pair of the Arlo security cameras back in September. We went on a trip to Colorado and the cameras worked for a few days, but then one stopped. When we got back, I returned the pair for a new set. When those arrived, one of the cameras wouldn't even power up fresh out of the box. I returned them. I waited a few months and went back to Best Buy to buy the Canary. It was so easy to set up and works great. The video and sound is not as jumpy as the Arlo cameras were. The Canary has an alarm function which can activate a siren-like sound. It also allows you to speak through your smart phone to the Canary to talk to someone in the house. Works great in the event that you have Wifi away from home, but not a good cell tower connection. Kind of like using Skype except the other person doesn't have to be logged in.
