Good ink, buy why so expensive?

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like Canon printers in general because I can change ink cartridges individually, instead of the multi-colored ones which usually have other ink still in them... As with any ink cartridge tho, they're all expensive! Note, these cartridges do not light up when they're empty like my older Canon printer did...
