My experience is that it is best to buy the branded ink. Ruined a printer once with off brand ink. This was easy to switch out and should last me a long time.

Black ink from Canon is the best! This XL is worth it cause it lasts way longer than the smaller size. No problems with it drying out.

I have bought quite a few of these over the years for my Canon MX472. Never had any issues, it is as simple as opening the toner cover, removing the old one, and placing in the new one.
