The Best Black Printer Ink Available..FROM ANYONE!

I've been around long enough to use many of the better color photo printers both past and present. In the past ,HP's PhotoSmart line was hard to beat. That's been changed by CANON with their PIXMA line of inkjet printers and their AWESOME line of printer inks.Canon's black ink possibly has the best color density & gradient levels currently available(my opinion,of course!) from ANY MANUFACTURER..BAR NONE !! Canon Black 251 not only has great coverage, but the XL version also provides almost twice the pages printed than Canon's standard 251 Black cartridge ...AND at a MUCH LOWER COST THAN YOU WOULD EXPECT. I found the cost of the HIGH YIELD 251XL Black cartridge was about $23 compared to the 251 Black standard cartridge @ about $14-$15. To me,penny pincher that I am, it's a NO BRAINER to get approximately 600 total pages printed for about $23 (XL version) compared to about 300 pages printed for $14-$15 (the standard 251 BLACK cartridge). I'm sure that you'll agree about the ink's quality. NOT TO MENTION THE EXTRA VALUE YOU WILL FIND FROM THE 251XL CARTRIDGE!! Like the "old man" said..."TRY IT... YOU'LL LIKE IT"(at least as much as I have..again,my opinion) !!! foolishfotoshooter

Individual Ink Color Cartridges MAKE SENSE!

Have you ever been stopped when trying to print a black and white document because your ($60 - $90) "Tri-Color" cartridge had one (or more) of its "wells" run dry? I was just sick and tired of this after dealing with expensive "Tri-Color" cartridge headaches for more than a decade. When I first shopped for new printers last year I found that several brands now utilize 4 (or more) separate ink cartidges for "full-color" printing. I bought the Canon PIXMA MG 5420 and have been VERY HAPPY with ALL of its features and capabilities! AND BEST OF ALL ... The individual color ink cartridges are 20 to 30% of the price of a "Tri-Color" or "XL" Black cartridge!!! ... And, So far, I've only had to replace these (3 out of 5 of the NON-XL) cartridges once(!) entering my second year of ownership of my PIXMA 3-in-1 printer. Yeah, I don't print more than a couple of (to no more than a dozen) pages a week, but at least I haven't had to replace ANY cartridges that just plain WENT DRY sitting in an inactive printer!

Ink Works Well With Pixma Printer

My overall review is that the print quality of this Canon ink works extremely well with our Pixma printer. It has good ink saturation and is very clear. The fact that you can't easily find a full case of the four inks is kind of weird!! Buying three inks and then having to buy a separate fourth ink is not very consumer friendly! The printing system is also confusing as it appears that all four inks are used even when printing in black!! So my issue is not with the inks, it is with the entire Pixma system. The consumables are so expensive, that we may end up switching to another printer that has more reasonably priced consumables and simpler system to use!

Really, what is there to say about ink jet cartridges? Unless you're going to try to cheap out and buy refill kits or so-called compatible cartridges (and I've been down both of those roads before and found both of them to yield poor results), you have to buy the manufacturer's cartridges that are designed for your printer. These XL cartridges, of course, have a greater ink content than their standard counterpart. I suppose that if you very seldom use your printer, it would be best to buy the standard yield cartridge just in case the cartridge head gets clogged/dried out due to infrequent use. If you use your printer on a somewhat regular basis, however, it's more economical to buy the higher capacity cartridges.

Best ink for my Canon printer

I have tried in the past third party ink cartridges. They print well however the chemicals in the ink end up (for me) clogging the inkjet head requiring me to buy another printer. Given the low number of cartridges I use in a year the higher price for better quality ink is well worth it. Canon does fix the price for its ink so all reputable stores sell it at the exact same price. Some stores do have custom "packaging" made by Canon just for their store. These special packaging can include additional cartridges, or glossy photo paper.

Have used this ink many times over the life of my existing printer. It is convenient to load and unload. I have never experienced any smudges or clogging from or with this cartridge. The ink is good quality and the cartridges perform as expected. I do feel that this cartridge gets used up very fast for the price. A longer life or lower price would be very much appreciated.

I haven't had the Canon printer long, so this is my first purchase of high yield black ink. It does seem that the Canon ink needs to be replaced often, and I don't do excessive printing, and my print quality is set for draft which I change to higher quality as needed. I will say that I will recommend, as I think all brands are pretty much average, but will know better as I use the printer longer. The print quality seems good, better than the Brother printer I had.

Anyone who owns and uses a printer needs to buy ink. I like that XL size is an option since cartridges seem rather small. The printer I am using is new to me and so are the cartridges so time will tell how I like it. The cartridges seem to hold less ink that my old printer though, and probably will need to be replaced more often. I just wish there were more affordable ink cartridges available. Ink prices seem unreasonably high.

I owned an HP printer, actually a couple of them, and switched over to Canon because the printer itself offered a few features that the others didn't when I was shopping for a new one. The first thing I noticed when I started printing was the quality of the picture was better than HP. The second thing is how long the cartridges last. I kept thinking when is this thing gonna run out of ink. Lasts way longer than HP print cartridges

The XL cartridges are the way to go, fitting in the same slot as the regular size in your Canon printer, but giving you extra ink for not much extra cost. Unfortunately, the overall cost of this series of Canon cartridges can be pretty high. I have been pleased with the print results, so it is worth the price. The installation is easy thanks to their push tab design, and the lights on the cartridges tell you that it's snapped in good. I would buy again.

I have found Canon inkjet printer ink cartridges to be very good quality products and are guaranteed to fit and work well in the Canon printers in which the cartridge was designed for (proper application). I get great quality documents in black and in color. No need to try to cut corners with refilled or generic products unless you are on a budget. Canon ink is worth the extra cost, in my opinion.

Canon ink always has worked well and had great quality output for us and this is one of those cartridges for us. I only have ever used original manufacturer ink in my Canon printer and haven’t had any issues. Unfortunately, the older our printer got, the faster the ink seemed to drain, so we have recently upgraded to another printer.

It works great for my Canon MX922 printer. We always buy Name Brand ink cartridges. And I buy the individual ink cartridges, because when you buy them by the Value Pack, you'll end up with a lot of extra Black cartridges. That's why I do not buy these cartridges by the pack. Always, you'll want to the "X" ones. That is, the CLI-251 BK-XL, CLI-251 C-XL, CLI-251 PGBK-XL, CLI-251 M-XL, CLI-251 Y-XL, CLI-251 GY-XL.

I had already sent in a lengthy critique on my experience when buying Canon ink cartridges. They are rarely available when I go in to purchase them. Is there any way to have a much better supply at the Brentwood store. This has happened on both of my last 2, possibly 3 visits and I end up not being able to get what I really want or need. Thank you!

I previously was a HP printer fan. But it kept getting more expensive for the ink cartridges. I bought a Canon (MX922) & am much happier (you can still print in black only if a color goes dry) and the ink supply seems to last longer & is usually a good price via Best Buy. (I used to buy ink at Office Max, but their prices are rarely as good.

I love my new Canon printer/fax/scanner. I bought an extra cartridge of ink, since normally the starter ink cartridge has almost no ink. Well, I've printed a lot of sheets so far and there's still ink. So, I'm pretty happy about that. And, now I have an extra cartridge when this ink runs out. I hope the ink continues to hold out! :)

Replacement ink that is original. Looks like the print outs when it was new. You are not gonna find the price cheaper on Amazon and you get to earn points for money back certificates. Great if you plan on buying stuff soon. Not to mention price match guarantee (they'll refund if you find it cheaper within a month.

Printer ink prices are unbelievable. However, Canon inks are very reliable. Too bad they do not last long for an infrequent printer use person. More ink wasted than put to use it appears. Choce this larger quantity cartridge to see if it is worth the money. A future review should be posted.

Best buy has great pricing on ink. The sales rep did caution me to only use the XL if I actually do print a lot in Black, otherwise, the ink will dry out from non-use. I like that he wasn't just trying to sell me on something, but cared about my usage. I have been quite happy with the Canon Pixma printer and the associated ink.

I bought my Canon printer from Best Buy a couple of years ago and it has been a terrific and useful tool. I love having it and the cartridges last a reasonably long time. On top of that, there is never s smear or problem and the sensors work well. Someone gave me a HP printer for my painting studio. I hate it.
