I was a little hesitant when I was choosing a lens to pair with my 5D Mark IV. I heard this lens has always had auto focusing issues, but that’s not the case with this. It’s perfect for family candies, portraits and street photography. It’s the all-around perfect focal length for any occasion.

This lens is fast, shows awesome depth of field and can almost shoot in complete darkness and still get good results. The picture purity is a whole different level from all my other "L" Canon lenses. Highly recommended!

Honestly, I have shot with the 50mm 1.4 for years and loved it so I thought that by upgrading to the 1.2 I would totally see what the hype was about. Nope. Nothing different. Sure it goes to 1.2 aperture, but it's really no different than shooting at 1.4 and I hardly ever even shoot at that aperture anyway. Everything else seemed exactly the same as the 1.4 lens except the price! SO I decided to return it to Best Buy. Guess what? They charge a 15% restocking fee that NO ONE told me about before buying. That's nearly $300 for me to try out this lens and decide it's over-priced. Called customer service and they 'can't do anything about it'. $10-20 restocking fee, fine. But $300!! Nope. So mad. Will not be buying from Best Buy again.

If you take portraits, you want this lens. I love it. Actually think I'll be it using it more than a lot of my zoom lenses. Wish it wasn't so expensive, but if you can afford it, don't hesitate to buy it. Photos it takes are amazing.
