Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the EF 50mm f/1.8 II Standard Lens's image quality, ease of use, and ability to produce excellent photos in low light. Many appreciate its wide aperture, which creates a pleasing background blur, making it ideal for portraits. The lens is also praised for its affordability and lightweight design. However, some users have noted that the autofocus could be improved.

Purchased this lens after it was recommended to me from a friend. Despite having no zoom capability, it's perfect for shooting portraits and a great lens to get me started looking into more lenses for my DSLR. I would highly recommend!

This lens takes nice sharp pictures. The motor is a bit noisy, but for the price, this is a great lens.

i like the lens; it is a very good value for what it is; only real problem is that it has no image stabilization system. The main uses i have have for it are: portraiture and photographing my architectural models, which often require very shallow depths of field to convey the feeling I want to.

This lens takes great pictures. I'm used to a lens with focus, I'm really wishing this lens did that.

For around $100 you cant go wrong. Would be nice if focus ring was easier to use but hard to complain with such a low price. I was able to get some great shots using this lens

This lens takes great pictures and for the price you can't beat it. The auto focus is a bit noisy but a not a big deal unless someone else is shooting video near you. A great addition to a lens collection and certainly a go to lens for any opportunity to capture memories.

I needed this lens to take closer up pictures and didnt get a chance to see through it in the store. It is a good simple lens, but i wish i could have tested it in the store and i needed it to have a little more in the picture than it is capable of.. Overall a good lens, but i will be looking for a wide angle in the future.

Although this is the lens I wanted, I was a little disappointed that I can't get real close-up with this lens. I thought I would be able to get within an inch or two of a subject and be able to focus for super close-ups, but that is not the case. On the other hand, once getting used to that, this lens gets great, crisp shots that fill the whole frame.

    Sharp Lens for Cheap!!

There are more expensive lenses in my camera bag (including L's), but this little guy is definitely the sharpest. Now I know for myself why this lens has earned the nicknames "Nifty Fifty" and "Fantastic Plastic"! Being made out of plastic, I'm sure that there is some build variability lens-to-lens, but my copy is surprisingly sharp, even wide open.

I bought this lens to go with my T5i. I have the kit lens 18-55 and the 55-250. I recently went to a car show and was able to take wonderful pre-dawn pics due to the f/1.8. For the price, this is an excellent addition to the two other lenses mentioned above.

I purchased this lens with the intentions of learning how to shoot in lower light and have better quality photos. I haven't gotten a full chance to use this lens as much as I would at this time, but it's proven to be a keeper! Can't wait to use it more.

I recommend this lens. The best money spent and a necessity for portrait photography. Pictures are crisp and clean and shallow dof is easy to get.
