This is my first lens that was not the kit lens that comes standard with basic canon rebels. I love it and have not taken it off my camera since purchasing. The mechanics do make some noise when focusing, but it seems like the more I use it the quieter it gets. I love this lense and it's F 1.8.

The lens is lightweight and can be used with the camera most of the times for general shooting. Being a single focal length, it cannot zoom images but that covers for quick focusing. The colors in pictures produced are better than I have got from zoom lenses. Images are sharp. Great value for money.

Got this as a Christmas present for my wife she loves cameras, works great and takes good pictures

with the money of 1.4 version I can have 4 of this, you only lost half stop of aperture. Perfect for portrait photography also don't need to be professional to get great quality pictures

The lens is great. A photographer friend of mine recommended it and I was glad he did. I shoot promotional shots for weddings I do and do so in low light you need a lens like this. The pictures have turned out great so far.

I've been using this lens for a bout a month now an it's a gem. I shoot at concerts and it is what I want. You can't go wrong with a low f stop lense for things like that and it's a great lens over all. The 50mm lens is great because you can be a good distance away and still get that shot.

This is a go to lens for the amateur photographer. It's a perfect addition to the lens collection for those looking to take quick portraits.

It's a versatile lens that produces image quality as high as your sensor will allow. It did, however, likely provide the catalyst for the error 99 on my Rebel XT. My "I would recommend this to a friend" should have no exclamation mark on it, and it gets a 4 because I'm assuming this particular lens does not always come with a fatal flaw.

This little nifty fifty is an awesome lens. With the wide aperture capability you can get some really cool photos. With extension tubes or macro filters it becomes a really nice affordable macro lens. For the price I got on sale it was well worth it just to have it around.

Great lens does what it should do. Good for portraits. I prefer the 40mm pancake however which can be used for portraits or just walking around. I always had a small worry in the back of my mind to not abuse the lens because of other reviewers that mention the lens popping out.

The price makes this lens a good deal. We will see if the plastic holds up over time.
