Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the EF 50mm f/1.8 II Standard Lens's image quality, ease of use, and ability to produce excellent photos in low light. Many appreciate its wide aperture, which creates a pleasing background blur, making it ideal for portraits. The lens is also praised for its affordability and lightweight design. However, some users have noted that the autofocus could be improved.

You won't find another lens in this price range that performs like this one. The f/1.8 f-stop allows the lens to draw in much more light than the included kit lens, allowing you to take much better pictures indoors or any other environment where light is scarce. The lens does feel cheap unfortunately, being constructed mostly of plastic.

I LOVE this lens. It is perfect for low-light areas, and soft focus. I used it for a barn wedding a few weeks ago, and it ended up being the primary lens after dark! I highly recommend this lens for anyone.

As an amateur photographer, this lens makes it's easier to blur the background and isolate the subject being photographed. I wouldn't have thought about without the suggestion from the sales person at Best Buy.

This lens is exactly what i expected. I got it for someone just starting with portraits so she could learn to use a prime lens. If you are going to do a lot of portraits i would recommend getting the 1.4.

i feel it is grew to have, especially starting out. very much a staple to have for easy and clear shots. Makes shots easier due to no zoom, move your whole body. perfect for me taking clear close shots.

This lense does exactly what I bought it for. It allows me to shoot in low light situations without having to use a flash. It is small which makes it nice for transporting. All around a great product.

We needed a nice lens to use for portraits for our toddler, pets, etc. This lens is great for just that. No need to use a more complex lens for this purpose. It was exactly what we were looking for.

Overall, this lens was the perfect addition to my studio set. Shallow depth of feild is perfect for portrait work, and the shortness allows for faster shutter speed to achieve the desired exposure.

Great little lens, probably not an everyday lens as it is difficult to get good close up pics. You have to be kind of far away from your subject. But it is a crisp lens! Takes beautiful pictures!

Up until now, most of the pictures I'd taken of my sons' sports games were outdoors. I'm not a pro, and usually gets away with full auto mode. This lens was great for taking pictures at indoor basketball games where the gym had decent lighting. The only downside was not being able to adjust the zoom, but I easily accounted for that by cropping the photos. As for the plastic casing, I see no issue with it whatsoever. Definitely recommend. Can't beat the price either!

I really like this lens. It is easy to use. It is great for close ups. It has sharp focus. Being a fixed focal length, it makes you think more about your shots. I use it more than my other lenses.

The 50mm lense has a nice clean shot to it. Not much zooming going on but going in and out of focus for cuts on music videos looks realy good with the steady clean shot I get with the 50
