Unlike most more expensive lenses it is all plastic and has a relatively short life but it takes great pictures and u can buy 3 or more for what u would pay for a higher quality.

I have a digital Canon EOS Rebel XSi and bought this lens on the recommendation of my ameatur photographer brother-in-law. I bought this for taking portraits and such of the family. Some nice effects like blurred backgrounds can be achieved with this lens. It takes some experimentation with the manual settings on the camera to get things right but that's what's great about digital cameras - just delete the bad photos.

I needed a prime lens for a somewhat higher f stop. I never owned a fast DSLR lens , I do have a old Pentax Film Camera with a f1.4 lens on it and I always loved that lens. So I figured that this lens would fill a gap , and it did . I like the speed of this lens at the price I paid for it. Most of my zoom lenses start at f3.5 so this lens was really fast at f1.8 . But I needed one for a portrait lens. Now I have one.

This lens was easy to install and use. It has an awesome focus and produces amazing images.

This is a perfect go to lens. The low f/stop is great and helps create awesome pictures

I give it five stars. i recommend this item for beginners as well as people with experience.

My camera came with a telephoto lens. I needed a lens that I could take on vacation and point and shoot. This lens is great for good shots without zooming or focusing.

I bought this lens after getting my SL1 and I cant be happier. The pictures coming from this lens beat my expectations. The shutter seemed a little loud but its nothing that would stop me from using this everyday. I love the focus on this lens that gives great depth of field. Macro isnt that great on this one as you have to be about a foot away to get focus on something. Great for portraits.
