Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the EF 50mm f/1.8 II Standard Lens's image quality, ease of use, and ability to produce excellent photos in low light. Many appreciate its wide aperture, which creates a pleasing background blur, making it ideal for portraits. The lens is also praised for its affordability and lightweight design. However, some users have noted that the autofocus could be improved.

    Great economic prime lens

I've had this lens for a few months now and I'd definitely recommend it since it has a low price tag, the image quality is great, and the DOF you get is impressive. The build quality isn't that good, but if you take care of your equipment there should be no problem. The focus ring isn't that comfortable to use and when you shoot objects in movement sometimes it doesn't focus quick enough... you also might have trouble taking pictures when there is not enough light since it tends to hunt in low light. Other than that, overall it's a great lens, especially if you want to get into primes..Then you can move onto the 1.4... 1.2.

I purchased this lens after reading suggestions for improving my photos. I found it to be an "OK" lens...I think I should have saved my money towards the f/1.4 after doing more research...

I bought my Rebel T2i body only. I asked around my friends for a good start-up lens and everyone recommended this EF 50mm. As soon as I started using it, I realized the reasons why: 1. Very easy to use and get used to. 2. Image quality is awesome (even in low lighting condition) 3. 1.8 f-stop produces great depth in your image. 4. Lightweight. Bottom line: This lens gives you the best bang for the buck. I would recommend this lens to any beginners confidently.

I bought this lens expecting a good quality item, instead I was let down by the picture quality and the construction of it. I did not like the cheap plastic feeling of it and the loud noise it gave when focusing. I returned this lens for the Canon 40mm f/2.8 and have no regrets on that.

I had two of this lens from two different stores (Madison and Janesville, WI). I tried nine of them in the store and these two seemed to work fine until I put them into work. The AF works once out of three or four times, but your camera tells you it is focused. Holding the camera in about 45 degree angle the lens got stock, but it also told me it is focused. The first lens had an air bubble in the rear lens. The best buy’s customer service was good, they asked why I return the lens and gave my money back. I read the reviews of this lens on the best buy website. Misleading!!! I should have learned from best buy did not post my one star review of one of their item. They did not post the review even after I contacted them about it. It seems they only post what is good for their business. Read the reviews on amazon, start with the one star reviews that is what you need to know.
