Customers are impressed with the EF 50mm f/1.8 II Standard Lens's image quality, ease of use, and ability to produce excellent photos in low light. Many appreciate its wide aperture, which creates a pleasing background blur, making it ideal for portraits. The lens is also praised for its affordability and lightweight design. However, some users have noted that the autofocus could be improved.

This lens is a wonderful addition to my Canon DSLR photography equipment. While other lens can be used for portraits, the bocca with this lens is awesome!

    Great photos on a budget

I bought this lens expecting to be able to take some decent pictures without breaking my budget. Instead, I was able to take great pictures on a budget! I'll skip the superlatives and simply say that this lens is, by far, the best investment that you can make for your first lens after the kit lens you probably got with your camera. The f/1.8 aperture will give you a great deal more flexibility, whether you're practicing photography as art or just wanting to capture memories. The only real downsides to this lens are durability and noise. Neither of these are severe problems for me. I don't expect to be in any quiet locations that the motor noise would be a distraction. And, at this price, if it breaks it wouldn't be much of a burden to have to buy another.

This is a great value for a lens and works well with portraits since it adds the blur to the background and focuses on the focal point. Very simple and fun to play with. This is my second purchase of this lens since I dropped my and shattered it in the trade center museum. It is an affordable lens which makes me not scared to use it and not be devastated when I dropped it.

Bought this bad boy over a month ago and brought it for our trip up North, I should say this lens is absolutely wonderful. The sharpness of the images is somewhat comparable to the more expensive Canon lenses. With the 1.8 aperture, this lens is great for portrait shots. It's feels plastic but gets the job done. If you take good care of your lenses, you'll have no problem with this.

This lense is perfect for close ups and can be just left on the camera for quick and on the go pics. I do not like that it does not have a wider lense to catch a full view of your subject. This lense is good quality and inexpensive

This is the second lens I have owned. The first being the kit lens. This is a great upgrade, especially for the price. I already notice a difference in my picture quality and the DOP is amazing on my Canon Rebel T3. I would recommend this lens to anyone who is interested in learning more about photography but doesn't want to invest a lot of money.

if you have the money go for the f1.4, since it is built better with the metal housing. However, that will come with a price about 4X more that this lens. For the price, this lens does an excellent job in low light situations and takes very sharp beautifully colored pictures.

The lens is great and considering the hybrid plastic lens, gets great light! The lens is very light due to the construction and provides great depth in photos as you can blur out areas beyond the subject of focus.

I'm in the process of learning more about photography and lenses. I loves shooting portraits, kids, families, etc. I've used this lens a couple of times and the ability to have that large f/1.8 aperture has given me great results to really focus on the subject. The background blurs perfectly and I am having a lot of fun with this new lens!
