Great lens!!

It also makes the picture lighter than when you use a regular 55 mm lens without a flash. It is a great purchase!

Great fixed lens for those on a budget

For those who are on a budget and want to be able to capture good quality photos of your family, pets, etc, this lens fits the bill. We are using it on a Canon 60D and the pictures are coming out wonderful in our opinions. My wife loves it.

If you take care of it, it'll last

Great prime lens

She uses two kit lens that both have higher apertures, but nothing in the 1.8 - 2.8 range. This lens allowed her to shoot in lower light situations with tremendous depth of field and shallow backgrounds. Her old camera can still take a great photo with a pretty nice optics. The price was very nice as well, but I felt the chassis of the lens felt very cheap and easily breakable.

IM IN LOVE WITH MY 50

It creates beautiful creamy bokeh and since it opens up so much, it does incredibly well in very low light. I've even shot in the dark perfectly well. Very pleased and such a great investment.
