This lens is amazing! Super sharp pictures. Shutter speed up only up to 200 with flash but 4000 without kinda bummer but you can compensate with increased iso so not a big deal. I wish it was a focal range 100-250 would make it perfect but as it is its amazing.

I've enjoyed this lens so far. It is reliable and that is great when out on the field.

I chose this lens as my first macro lens and I haven’t regretted it. Images are sharp and so detailed. Highly recommend this lens if you’re debating on where to start in the macro line. Can also be used in portrait photography.

This lens is my favorite in my kit. I've owned it for a couple years before writing this and I was fortunate to get it before it went up in price. I'm not too technical when it comes to rating lenses but this does everything you expect without much effort. I love taking pictures of bugs and they turn out great with this. Ive used it mostly with my 80D which makes the zoom factor slightly larger with the 1.6 sensor. Pictures turn out great with that setup. It also works well for portraits with the wide aperture. Lately it's been working well with the EF to RF adaptor for my newer EOS R mirroless. I'm still testing everything with this setup but so far so good, which is great for anyone who is transitioning to Mirroless. I wish I had the RF version to compare but I feel like the results can't get too much better.

This lens delivers. Beautiful color, bokeh and sharpness. Extreme close macro work still needs a tripod, but Hybrid IS a great benefit for not-too-extreme handheld macro and handheld portraits. It's auto focus and image stabilization are truly excellent. Really happy to get this lens - its a really good multi-purpose len. Highly recommeded.

Wonderful macro lens! Love the clear sharp focus and shallow dof. I can easily shoot compound eyes on an insect, then shoot gorgeous portraits, both with great bokeh, wit this lens. The DOF is so shallow, I love the manual over-ride for focus ability. Auto focus is super fast on a Canon 60D.

This is a solid, high-quality lens that definitely deserves the "L" series designation from Canon. The auto focus system is very fast and very quiet. The added bonus of image stabilization makes this lens much more versatile as a general 100mm prime aside from its macro abilities. I've been able to get great shots with this hand held that wouldn't be possible on the non-IS version. IMO, the extra $$ for this lens vs the non-IS version of this lens is worth it, since you get IS and a lens hood. The hood, btw, has a more kind of "matte" finish on the outside, that won't scratch or print up like the other Canon hoods you have to buy separately (this is just a personal pet peeve of mine with hoods I bought for my non-L lenses). The biggest drawback to this lens is the new "Ring D" tripod ring Canon released for this lens. It's not available at most camera websites. Sites that do have it want near $200! Older rings are compatible, but you must use the Ring D if you use a vertical grip on your camera. For the price of this lens, the ring should be included, thus the 4 stars for "Value for Price". This is a knock to Canon, not Best Buy.
