Great lens for portrait photos! Very happy with it!

This lens packs a punch with a wide enough view for family sessions but close enough for close ups. At weddings, I can keep this lens on the entire day. For only have 2.8 AF it has a great depth of field.

The only thing i don't like about this lens is the price.

Great lens and has produced some nice photos. Definitely pricey. Have a 24-100 lens I was using before and miss that extra zoom but worth the trade for the quality. Would definitely recommend this lens.

While the cost kept me from buying this lens for a while, I really wish I'd gone on and bought it sooner. It's a great lens for lower light situations, and it's a great lens for situations where you need the flexibility of a zoom lens. The quality of the photos are outstanding and well worth the extra dollars in the long run.

i use this lens everyday and it's one of the best macro lens on the market It also a possible to use an optional tripod mount which can be attached to the rear of the lens. While not really required the tripod mount provides a better balance - otherwise the camera lens combination tends to be somewhat front loaded specifically when used on light-weight DSLRs

Although limited by the maximum aperture that you can only achieve with a prime lens, this is a perfect workhorse lens for a variety of situations. It's sharp and has the incredible quality of the L-Series line.

THIS IS A MUST HAVE! It takes shooting to a whole new level. The ability to take portraits and group shots is an awesome feature and this gives that to you. Build quality and glass are top notch, I'd also recommend getting a decent filter to cover the front element just incase. I'd rather pay to raplace a filter then a lens.
