This is a great lens but the only thing is that it does not have an auto stabilizer feature.

However the price is a lot considering it doesn't have a stabilizer built into it.

Perfect lens I have ever used but some focus problems every now and then

I shoot professionally and many times in the past I used prime lenses on 2 bodies because primes are sharper and faster than even 2.8 zooms. I got tired of that though and I finally made the leap of $$$$$ to get the 24-70mm f/2.8, purchased at Best Buy in Yonkers, NY. Yes, I have seen the light!!! If you're shooting professionally, especially weddings, this lens is a MUST. Weddings are chaotic and the flexibility of this zoom range will save your life. The 24-70 allows you to shoot wide open with flash and keep the ISO down between 400-800 for rich looking sharp photos. If you're a casual shooter, this might be too much lens.....price and weight wise....but if you're branching out to professional shooting, don't show up to an event with anything less than the 24-70mm f/2.8. Now I just gotta start saving up again to buy the 70-200mm f/2.8!!!

I have used other lenses but this lens is awesome and mind blowing it’s focus is fantastic.

the lense is alright i thought it would be super great but I still don't use it much still use my 105 more

Took the lens on trip and the difference it made in the clarity of the photos from my other lenses was amazing. I highly reccomoned for a basic shooting lens.

As a photojournalist this is my go-to lens and the one I use for more than 50 percent of my images. The lens makes for great images and works well across the entire focal range, which encompasses virtually all of my day-to-day images. This lens allows me to make great images without a flash, even in low light, while reducing my reliance on pricy prime lenses. While I agree with others that it has significant improvements over it's predecessor, I question whether they are sufficient to justify the price tag. The lack of image stabilization is a minor point, while it might have been nice, it also would have made the lens heavier and most pros don't rely on IS, particularly at such close range. If IS is important to you, I would recommend a f4 lens that has IS (either 24-70 f4 L or 24-105 f4 L). I also point out that if you're shopping for a body, you can get a great deal on a 5D (MK II or MK III) or 6D kit, which includes the 24-105 f4 L.

Defective piece, pictures are not clear at all.. zoom is also getting stuck, not smooth

This lens is way better than my 24-105 f4 I sold. It meets and exceeds my expectations. I always wanted the 24-70 mk I but hated the weight and reverse zoom. now I have a lens that looks like a normal zoom but is extremely light and sharp. Yeah there is not IS but if you hold your camera steady I have not had an issue. The AF is so fast on my Canon 5d Mark III. This is now my favorite travel lens. Goes great with the 70-200 2.8 II. Really this setup covers everything. Definetly buy it you will be glad you did.

I've been using this lens for about 6 months now and find that it has become a permanent fixture on my 5DIII. The zoom range fits well with both indoor and outdoor framing and the speed is perfect for indoor shots without flash. The 61 focus points help but this lens looses nothing when used on my 6D body the has 11 fp. I now keep this lens on my 5DIII and a 70-300L on my 6D both in my bag and can cover whatever I'm thrown up against. You can't go wrong with this lens.

sharpest 24-70 you'll ever own, hands down! the Tamron version does have the advantage of VC (equivalent to canon's IS), which helps shaky hands. build quality feels solid (as expected from any L series lens), it's a bit lighter than the older 24-70L (though not by much). overall a great performer and a must for any serious or professional photographer.

I don't really have much to review about this other than it is the best 24-70mm in the market right now, hands down. It is actually so good at F2.8 with a high ISO camera (6D), I sold my 50mm F1.4 because that range is covered. Unless you need the shallow DOF or the 16-24mm range, you don't need any other lens It is significantly better than the version I. If you can't get good quality picture with this lens something is wrong with your photography or camera. I also really appreciate the lock mechanism on the lens. The filter size might be a pain to purchase and expensive but you can always buy step down adapter. It could be lighter but i can't complain here because it is an 82mm size.

I photograph weddings & I love that this lens has a low F-stop but can handle the amount of sharpness I need. Also I love that i can pair it with my 5d mark 3 & that is where the beauty of the ISO comes in. Unlike the first 24-70, this lens is much sharper. I am highly considering purchasing this lens & getting rid of my 40mm, 50mm, 85mm & 24-105 f/4. Happy shopping. This is the one lens I hope not to take off the mark 3 body. :)

I rented this lens before making the purchase - it is now my go to lens. A bit pricey but well worth it!

I've had the 24-70 f4 for about 5 months now. I worried about making the wrong choice here . . .debating between several lenses. Here's what I really like about this lens. 1. It's sharp . . .I'd have to get a computer program to determine the difference in sharpness between this and my 135L. But, all camera's and lenses seem to have their own personalities. You have to build a relationship with each one before you can appreciate what they can do. 2. The size and weight . . .it simply allows me to move it around easier than the larger 24-70 2.8. However, the big plus is holding it up for a extended period of time when video taping. The less weight , the better when trying to hold a camera over your head for a while to get a shot. 3. The IS. . .honestly, I didn't think the image stabilization was going to be a big deal for me. I had the 17-40 and the 135L, the 85 , , ,,I could get the shot normally. However, this past weekend, I did several handheld video clips of Bluegrass bands. The quality was way better than I was expecting. The hand shaking is noticeable, but, a small fraction of trying the same shot with my other lenses(I tried and failed). The IS on the lens is really awesome. I hadn't planned this . . .just decided the opportunity was there. I found it easy to hold the camera/lens combo and move it around to create different angles . . .gives me a lot of creative possibilities. Not limited to a tripod. Overall, I do love the lens.
