This lens is awesome. Canon always makes quality products, and I knew what I was getting when I bought it. Can't go wrong with the 1.4 f stop.

I honestly didn't find it to be that much better than my 50 mm 1.8 for the price. At more than double the 1.8 I was expecting amazing pictures but they're honesty not that much better. I feel that I've wasted 350. I can't tell the difference when comparing a picture of my 1.8 with my 1.4 .

This lens is okay. When it takes a sharp picture, it is beautiful! BUT....that only happens like maybe 50% of the time. I upgraded to the 1.2 and it was definitely worth it. If you can't afford the 50mm 1.2, go for the 1.8.

Wasn’t the best lens but was pretty decent. Would much rather stick with the 1.8

Recently purchased this and I love it. Pictures are bright and clear.

It may be a good portrait lens for a learner....no so great f 1.4 which is definitely 3 times expensive than this...

if you are taking close up pictures of people or items, its excellent. i was steered in the wrong direction when i wanted the lens more for landscapes and such

I use this lens for close ups and it’s perfect. I love this lens for beginners

its a great bying experience. we are loving this with new baby. we have towwait and see how long it will last.

The 1.2 50mm lens would be a better purchase but this is a good starter lens.

Met my need for a fast f 1.4 everyday 50 mm lens. USM auto focus is great.
